Chapter 286 - That Ring?!
The glass of water was dropped on the ground from Jennifer's hand, taking the attention of the rest of the family mbers too.
Her hand was in the middle air when she passed an awkward-filled smile. "I..I'm sorry.. I didn't want to.."
"Don't touch it. Butler will ask the maids to clean it.." Javier was tense when he saw that one piece was very much close to her legs.
Under the table, he adjusted her legs nearby to his so that she doesn't end up getting any glass inside her flesh.
Jennifer smiled but her eyes already grew with the aloofness inside them. Despite her smile reaching her eyes, her heart was slowly turning to the tal.
Shirley ignored the sound like that of the thin air then continued, "Where was I? Oh, why don't you suggest sothing else, Shawn."
Her voice held the attention of others back to the topic, making her heart being clothed with the plague.
"Why not? I will talk with Dakota once if they are comfortable with this and then we both can send our children there. That would be a perfect idea!" Shirley gave the things a thumbs up but this only deepened Javier's forehead lines.
"I know that this Shirley is crazy but are you the sa, father?" The aloof voice instantly pulled Shirley narrowed. "What have I done? I was simply thinking of your betternt..."
"My future would be in a better light if you don't think about my betternt. I'm fine with the way I manage my life." He had no intention of getting in talks with a mistress like her, who only knows how to warm another's bed.
Bringing his eyes back to his food, Javier took the bite and chewed it before Shirey once again tried to gain sympathy.
"See! This is what I don't want.. I was only thinking.. of you both c-"
"Mrs. Shirely, I? believe that this rule is also followed here.. the groom and bride shouldn't stay out alone till and unless they are married. The chances of a marital dispute have already? increased recently." Jennifer said honestly, much to everyone's displeasure for sure.
She was the thorn in their eyes that needed to be cleared but they don't have the sa power to do so for now. Neither will Jennifer let them execute their plan so smoothly.
"Jennifer…. You're saying as if you never t Lucas or stayed with him before you married him.." Shirley's narrowed slightly when she brought Lucas into the conversation.
The na itself made Jennifer's mood turn gloomy but she had to definitely give the reply. "You are wrong here. I'm not married to Lucas even now. And true to that, I never stayed with that man ever in my lifeti."
"And I guess… Why does soone end up staying together? When they are already engaged. That is needed only when the other party's desperate and knows that marriage might break anyhow."
"Also… the way you say.. is this the possibility that Emily has devised a plan? After spending a night with Javier, will she blackmail him to get Javier bound into married life?"
Jennifer kept no tinge of emotions except blaming Emily. Were they planning to create the dramatic situation where Javier is left with no choice in his hand?
'If they think Javier is too push back. Hgmh! You are definitely wrong! My husband is far better and above these types of cocoons..' she wondered if her words offended him.
But it seems none of them even cared about what she said. All of them gave her nothing but ignorance, which was very much expected of them.
Charles, Amaira, and Javier, all understood the hidden aning behind her words. None of them was a fool, nor was she spouting any nonsense.
But then, Javier faced his father with frosty expressions. Turning his face in his direction, he spoke, "I believe we talked about this father. I'm not going to any ball with that lady."
"Your fiance." Shawn corrected which irked Javier much to his annoyance. Only if he could just yell out his own reasons, when everyone talked about his fiance, infront of his wife!
Yet when he was going to revoke back to the man, Shawn Interrupted with it, even glancing at him. "Javier… we had the conversation. I hope you rember that."
Hearing this, Javier's eyes were constantly shooting daggers in his father's direction. The words were double anings, making Jennifer and Charles lift their eyes too.
'Talks? Which talks?' She failed to understand the aning behind the sa, making her really curious to know more.
To her dismay, neither Javier nor Shawn exchanged words anymore. Instead, they both sat there in silence without uttering a single word with respect to the sa.
Her eyes stared at Javier to see his resistance to the sa, yet the circumstances are already pulling his leg. 'But why are you following your father's words… even when you aren't willing to do it?'
The urge to find out beca more in her heart. Otherwise… She clearly told her that their talks are going to put a lot of pressure on her marriage.
anwhile, Charles had his eyes fixed on Javier too. He wanted his brother to suddenly zip his mouth just with his father's one speech.
But at the sa ti, his eyes traveled to see the worried Jennifer, who was in the sa field as that of him.
Moreover, the fact that his brother and father are trying to get things done was sothing odd. They won't co to one place, since he knows them too well.
'Seems like.. she doesn't know anything as well..' very much expected as his father and Javier kept it between themselves.
Just when he was thinking and letting this matter pass by, his eyes traveled to her hand which she had kept near her neck to support her face.
A frown curved on his forehead when he noted a familiar thing, 'That ring...'
