Chapter 248 - Engagent Day! (6)

Her words brought a commotion. Moreover, the guests were looking at her as if she was so kind of cry lady who was now drunk and trying to create a ss.

The sa was embedded in their mind but still, the thought of having so gossip was making them keen to learn about it. One of the ladies, who seed to be a gossipy one, asked from one side, "What do you an girl?"

Passing her a warm smile that curved on her lips, Jennifer told, "I an to say, now that Mr. Javier Johnson is engaged to Ms. Emily but have you ever thought.. If the groom is really single before his engagent… or has he broken soone's heart to be here?"

"But I rember what Mrs. Johnson said before. Aren't they childhood sweethearts, how can there be a third person in between them?" This was comnded by another lady, who looked puzzled to hear Jennifer's words.

But the question was enough to make all of them give it thought.. Why would a lady like her, speak sothing ill about the recently ford couple? Or was this her sole purpose?

At the sa ti, Javier wasn't even saying a single thing, only passing his brother a glance. Communicating through their eyes, Charles nodded from the other side of the crowd when he made his way towards Jennifer, without uttering or even eyeing.

Coming to her rescue, Charles removed his coat and put on her dress when he slightly whispered in her ears, "Ms. Jennifer, please don't start here…"

Jennifer's eyes matched with his, when a mocking smile appeared on her lips, "Not here then where? Do you have any idea what I was going to say?"

"No I don't and I have no wish to even know. But please Ms. Jennifer. Not here…" was all that he said before he put himself back. As always, a sweet gesture of his surrounded and impressed many but then, Charles said, "I think that you are already drunk enough, to begin with. I should bring you back to your room, Miss."

There was a hard-core glare that Jennifer passed Charles. Her eyes contained fury and coldness, as the drop in her behavior and body language was hard to miss. Without even uttering a single word, and a chance to do so, Charles held her wrist with his warm hands and brought her out of hell.

Climbing the staircase, walking throughout the corridor, he made her sit on the bed.

She wasn't uttering a single thing but then, he brought a glass of water. "Have a drink of this."

As Charles extended his hand to give her the glass of water, where she lifted her eyes to look into his and nodded "Thank you for this…"

"I'm happy that you heard and followed what I said downstairs." He wasn't expecting her to actually be considering his request at all.

Although, it too made him curious to learn what she was going to say it wasn't the right ti.

Not because he was afraid that it would break sothing up but he has no wish to give others a chance to gossip about the Johnsons, behind their backs, as the na is also associated with the company built by their ancestors and he is the current chairman.

Jennifer first of all, drank the water in one go and handed him back, which he kept on the nearby table. As Jennifer sat on the bed, Charles bent on her knees to lift his eyes and look into hers.

The coldness of the surface was making him already anxious but he had the courage to ask, "Are the things ssed up?"

Nodding her head, Jennifer gave a positive answer to which he understood and said, "I know how it feels. You love him... And then seeing that the person you love is getting engaged to soone else. I know this very well, Ms. Jennifer."

Just from the exchange of words, Jennifer predicted that the man has no idea about their marriage. A sarcastic scoff left her lips at this re thought, 'He hasn't told anyone? Probably this is why he must have asked Charles to stop and let that engagent happen..'

It wasn't his fault either, in the end, Javier has made the decision to co into this engagent willingly.

"I know this.. You aren't the only person to witness this. I have gone through the sa situation in my past and… this is really a facing.. bad feeling. I won't comfort you since it will be of no use but.. don't give up on trying to find out why Javier is trying to do this.."

Staring at his face, Jennifer's brows crumbled down.

His reply was straight to say that she shouldn't get upset by just witnessing what just happened, "If only I had a strong heart like you and you know the reality too… Anyways, you go downstairs."

She wasn't willing to let him wait here either. Also, when Hannah and Austin, who stood at the entrance also waited to enter the room once the man leaves.

At last, Charles nodded his head when he asked once again, "Are you sure that you will be fine alone?" the concern was evident in his words when he stared into her eyes, finding the glow missing.

"I'm sure that is why I'm asking you to leave alone. Don't worry, I'm alright..just sowhat.."

"Yeah, I know what this is called. You relax, I will take my leave." With this, Charles took off his leave, and without even taking his coat, his legs moved in the main door's direction.

But he halted in the middle when Jennifer called his na from behind, "Charles...."

Turning around, he raised his eyebrows, "Is there anything?"

"Ask Javier to show his face in this room after the party…. If he is willing to for the last ti..Otherwise.. be ready to lose ..."
