The extent of the waves triggered by the collapse of the Chaos Mother Cave, or what other chain reactions it sparked along the way, remains a mystery to us.

In any case, Huang Long was swept up all the way, stumbling and tumbling, and ended up in an unknown region.

Good news: Although his injuries are severe, he’s not dead. Bad news: If no one lends a hand, he’s about to die.

This region is shrouded in an ominous gray fog. Just a slight touch was enough to rapidly decay the Daoist robe on Huang Long’s body, and beneath the robe, his very skin would be next.

If he transford into his dragon form, his dragon scales would be directly corrupted by so inexplicable force.

What’s worse, his consciousness was also being corroded. Although Master Huang Long wasn’t exactly young, he wasn’t old either, yet now his mind was numb and rigid, and his thinking slowed drastically.

At this mont, he had no ti to consider anything else, it was all reduced to just one thought: "My life is over."

Maybe that phrase, "My life is over," is so kind of special cause-and-effect SOS spell?

Just as Huang Long was about to give in, a golden force enveloped him. In an instant, the gray fog dissipated, only to be replaced by a chilling blast of demonic qi.

Huang Long: ...

How to put it in words? It was like escaping a tiger’s den, only to fall into a wolf’s lair. But Huang Long was fortunate this ti because the wolf’s lair didn’t contain wolves—it held the long-missing Great Venerable of the Primordial, Hao Tian instead.

Unwittingly, Huang Long beca the first person to complete the mission of finding Hao Tian!

Huang Long was sowhat flabbergasted. Wasn’t he looking for Randeng? How did he end up bumping into Senior Hao Tian?

Hao Tian was equally baffled. Wasn’t he calling for aid from the Primordial? How did Huang Long co instead? Not that Huang Long was weak, but in the current situation, he was essentially useless.

After so back-and-forth conversation, Hao Tian felt his heart sink halfway. Huang Long wasn’t sent to rescue him—he was here looking for Randeng!

Did his distress token even reach the Primordial?

All Hao Tian wanted now was to return to the Primordial. Whether or not Randeng escaped, he no longer cared!

With Hao Tian’s help, Huang Long purged the black fog inside him and finally stabilized his injuries. While his dragon body was intact, he had lost thousands of years of life force.

"Senior Hao Tian, how... how can we leave this place?"

Although Hao Tian had been "missing" from the Primordial for rely thirty to fifty years, by his own reckoning, he had already been trapped in this Demon Tower for over eight thousand years.

At this mont, Huang Long could only fulfill his most basic function as he once did when he first entered Yuxu Palace: being an ornantal dragon to amuse Hao Tian.

Hao Tian didn’t even care if Huang Long could understand him. He simply needed soone—anyone—to listen. After all, it had been eight thousand years of sheer boredom!

"Back then, I fought the Demon Ancestor. There’s no way he could have defeated . But what did he do? He used this Demon Tower to trap and then fled. Under normal circumstances, with my level of cultivation, returning from Chaos to the Primordial is rely a matter of ti."

Though not socially skilled, Huang Long was a good listener. At this mont, he gazed at Hao Tian with a puzzled look on his face.

So what’s unusual about the current situation?

Feeling acknowledged by this response, Hao Tian continued.

"The current situation is far from ordinary. You must’ve sensed the black fog outside, right? That stuff? It’s rely the residue emitted unconsciously by a slumbering Chaos Demon God. How powerful is it, you ask? I’d estimate that even if Brother Yuan Shi showed up, it’s hard to say who’d win."

"Our next step is simple: we move quietly and avoid waking it up. Once I refine the Demon Tower and escape its area of influence, we can return to the Primordial."

This revelation left Huang Long utterly shocked. What?! A match for my master Yuan Shi? How strong must that make it?

As a mber of the Dragon Clan who had joined the Chan Sect, Huang Long had already seen more than ninety-nine percent of Immortals in the Primordial. But when it ca to Chaos Demon Gods, he admittedly knew very little.

"Could it be one of those Chaos Demon Gods slain by Pangu God in the old days?"

Hao Tian nodded, then shook his head. He wasn’t certain whether this one was newly born or had miraculously survived, but as the Daoist Ancestor’s child-servant back in the day, he knew so secrets. Yet, there was no need to share all that with Huang Long.

"Chaos Demon Gods are entities born from Chaos. Back then, Pangu God didn’t slaughter them all. Even if he had, Chaos would simply give birth to a new batch."

Chaos is eternal; order is finite. The Primordial has an endpoint, but Chaos does not.

"So... can we really go back?"

This wasn’t Huang Long being pessimistic. His life as Master Huang Long had been filled with misfortunes, and he truly believed he was terribly unlucky. Not just in perception—he objectively was unlucky.

In the past, when he accompanied Yun Zhongzi in search of opportunities, Yun Zhongzi’s experience was:

"Oh? What’s this? A treasure!"

"Oh? What’s that? Another treasure!"

anwhile, Huang Long’s experience:

"Huh? Where?"

"Huh? Where?"

"Why can’t I see it? Where is it?"

As the Heavenly Emperor, Hao Tian looked down on Huang Long’s beaten-down, submissive deanor. How could a man born between Heaven and Earth resign himself to such a miserable existence?

Although many of Hao Tian’s actions had been controversial, those opinions never mattered to him. He didn’t care. He was still himself: the Lord of the Three Realms, the most authoritative Heavenly Emperor below the Saints!

Perhaps it was because he had been bottled up for so long, or maybe Huang Long’s pitiful state provoked his disdain, or it might’ve been that Huang Long’s honest nature stirred so fondness in him.

For once, Hao Tian did sothing out of character: he began to encourage his little junior. His words ca pouring out, fast and furious. If you translated his lofty rhetoric into digestible bits, they would go sothing like, "My fate is mine to determine, not Heaven’s," "Why can’t a king or noble be you?" and "An Immortal lives to chase dreams; otherwise, how are you different from a salted fish?"—the kind of motivational "chicken soup" that people roll their eyes at.

Did Huang Long internalize any of it? Who knows. But Hao Tian certainly felt reinvigorated.

"Junior, rest up well. Once I refine this Demon Tower and escape the territory of this Corrupt Demon God, you and I will surely return to the Primordial safely!"

With that, he fell silent and resud refining the Nine Demon Tower.

The problem was, this artifact originally belonged to Demon Ancestor Luo Hou. It was a demonic Supre Treasure no less. Even though it had sustained significant damage, forcibly refining it was bound to take an unknown amount of ti.

Fortunately, he now had his junior (or pet) to keep him entertained.

...

Master Huang Long, who had gone out to find Randeng, inadvertently found Hao Tian instead. So where was Randeng?

Randeng, at this mont, was chasing Nezha!

The powerful strike from East Emperor Taiyi had dealt a catastrophic blow to the Chaos Mother Cave, nearly shattering it. Rational Mystic Sect Immortals knew to flee, but the other Chaos Creatures only knew how to devour and had no concept of fear. This resulted in countless Chaos Creatures, ranging from weak to monstrously strong, converging on the area.

However, the Chaos Creatures weren’t the only ones targeting this piece of at. Other entities, similar in status to the Chaos Mother Cave, were also eyeing it. One among them was a being that had assimilated part of Randeng.

This particular entity was also a Chaos Demon God, seemingly gravely injured. It was undoubtedly stronger than the Chaos Mother Cave but dared not confront it when it was intact. Judging by its current state, its power wasn’t overwhelming either.

Thus, it sent the now half-Chaos-fied Randeng to lead the charge.
