"What do you mean there was a phenomenon in the sky again?" Jack asked with a furrowed brow. He had just left his cabin because he’d sent all the divine items he’d gathered so far to Lex, and he needed some more of his own to push him into the Heaven Immortal realm equivalent of the Paladin path.

Yet as soon as he came out, the first thing he heard was about a phenomenon. Honestly, he had sensed some unusual things happening outside, but given the fact that the Hexus event was on the horizon, and the fact that he himself was on the verge of growing to the next level, he wouldn’t leave his cabin unless something impacted him directly.

"Yeah, it was quite a formidable sight, to be honest," answered Longbeard as he bed his beard using a b made of crystal from the alligator. It was one of the very few things that could actually unfurl the tangles in his otherwise chaotic beard.

"There were a bunch of lightning beasts roaring in the sky, and there was a human eating some kind of super powered crisp, as far as I could tell. Apparently the vision was visible everywhere. I’m not quite sure what it’s about, but a lot of weird things have been happening in the universe lately. Who can say what’s going on?"

Jack looked at Longbeard, and then up at the sky. It seemed... the universe really disliked the shell, and wasn’t happy with him either. It was strange because he hadn’t felt any change in his positive or negative karma.

"Forget that. Have we found any leads on any Deities still preaching nearby?" Jack asked, ignoring the previous statement entirely, as if it had nothing to do with him.

Longbeard shook his head.

"New Deities haven’t been able to enter the realm ever since Tribulation Fiends started to appear, and the old ones are actively tracking us through some strange method, and are avoiding us.

"Apparently, you have bee the nemesis within the Folklore realm for over 100 Deities, and that’s made its way into their faiths. Since then, they’re not even trying to fight anymore - they’re just straight up avoiding us."

Jack rubbed his temples as he thought of ways to deal with this issue. Nothing was going according to plan these days.

Almost as if he had been waiting for Jack to have that exact thought, Longbeard continued to speak.

"By the way, now that you’re finally out, are we planning on rescuing Pebbles, or will we just leave him where he is?"

Jack froze.

"What?" he asked, unsure if he heard correctly, or if the world just stopped making sense. What had happened to Pebbles?

"What ’what’?" Longbeard asked, confused about what was confusing Jack.

Jack resisted the urge to strangle someone.

"What do you mean ’will we rescue Pebbles’? What happened to Pebbles, and why didn’t anyone tell me about it?" Jack asked angrily.

"Oh yeah. Someone discovered that Pebbles cheeks are an incredibly safe and stable storage container, making him the perfect transport for extremely unstable materials. As a joke, Pebbles uploaded a rental deed for his cheeks up on eBuy, and he was making a lot of money until someone just... didn’t return him.

"We thought about telling you, but we tried contacting the eBuy customer service center first. They’re usually quite good with these things, but I guess the Fiend Tribulations have affected their business operations so they haven’t been able to get him back yet."

Jack stared at Longbeard in sheer disbelief at what he was hearing. For a moment, he was genuinely tempted to leave Pebbles be. After all, the little hamster was always trying to mutiny. But the adorable little fuzzball was also an indestructible shield, so it would be a waste to just let him go like that.

"Unfurl the sails. We’re going to get that hamster back," Jack said in an exhausted tone, though no one really plained.

Elsewhere inside the Folklore realm, Pebbles looked around nervously as he felt the forbidden artifact hidden inside his cheek trying to corrode his body. If he weren’t indestructible, the artifact would have already burned a hole in his cheek.

"What did I tell you, my lord? The vermin is the perfect carrier for your artifact," said a member of the Tyrannis race as he kneeled before a figure with his head lowered.

The figure being bowed to - a member of the Penance race - looked indifferently at the kneeling subject, though he could not help being intrigued by Pebbles himself.

"If he survives the journey, bring him back. We can use him again. Oh, and find a way to lose the trail of those eBuy investigators. It’s best not to attract too much attention within the Folklore realm."

Meanwhile, within the Gilded Hollow, Lex was running towards the edge of the retribution zone as if his butt was on fire, all the while grumbling to himself.

"Why can’t you just try to kill me the old fashioned way? Did you really need to innovate when it was my turn?" he asked, as if talking to the Hollow itself.

While it appeared like he was pletely fine, in truth Lex was seriously hurt, and his injuries continued to worsen. After trying a number of ways to prevent himself from being affected by the other realm, including just throwing an immense amount of divine energy at it and hoping a miracle would happen, he discovered that he could not reverse it at all.

Lex was many things, but he was definitely not on the same level as a universe, even if it was a dead one. If a way to stop or reverse the virus existed, it was beyond his ability to do. That left him only one, extremely desperate solution. He literally eviscerated the parts of the necklace, and himself, that were affected.

He also burnt off some parts that weren’t infected yet, but were touching the infected parts just to be safe. As a result, Lex’s soul suffered extremely painful damage.

Unfortunately, while he was still inside the retribution land, the infection kept ing back, which is why he started to run as fast as he could. What was even more unfortunate was that the danger of the zone adapted to the immense speed he showed, and the rate of the spread of the virus increased as well.

If he died, then this would be the most pathetic death he could imagine. What happened to being attacked by a volcano? Why did his enemies need to be more imaginative and creative these days?

Before he could find an answer to that question, Lex finally saw the edge of the tribulation zone.
