For some odd reason, Lex had assumed that when he traveled through the opening to the other realm, which existed in the form of a horizontal massive tear which swallowed up the top of the mountain, he would appear from the ground from where he would be able to see the rest of the mountain tip rising. That was not the case.
They flew into the opening, and what awaited them was a desolate wasteland without the slightest hint of life even though the realm itself was abundant with energy. When they appeared inside the realm, they were standing atop an ancient formation - one which operated using concepts Lex was entirely unfamiliar with.
To be clear, the formation wasn’t actually active - that was merely where they randomly appeared once they entered the realm. Signs of age had made themselves apparent on every structure around them, whether it was the floor or the walls or the very fabric of space itself.
The energy within the realm was normal spiritual energy, but a dense, overbearing Primordial aura invaded every corner of the realm, one that felt ancient and authentic. Lex instantly knew that pared to the Primordial energy and aura he had felt inside the Primordial Garden, this aura was a step above in quality, as if it was authentic while that was a mere pale imitation.
Lex was, naturally, unaffected by the Primordial aura at this point, for he himself exuded the same aura - though he kept it suppressed so that it wouldn’t be evident. Pelagor, clearly prepared in advance, also seemed unaffected.
The whale seemed to be looking around, as if to inspect if there had been any chances since he came here last, though Lex could feel that in truth it was observing Lex for any signs of strain. If he couldn’t even handle this, getting the resource would be impossible. Fortunately for him, Lex was at plete ease.
Lex stepped out of the room they arrived in, and discovered that most of the materials within the realm had turned into some kind of grey colored stone, regardless of what it may originally have been. That made for a very bizarre sight, where countless dead, wilted plants were frozen in place, as if they were statues.
Then again, actual, intact structures, whether it was in the form of plants or buildings or anything else, were scarce since most things in the realm seemed to have been destroyed in some great battle.
"The mountain peak, for whatever reason, has changed shape within this realm. You will no longer find the peak here as you would expect. Instead, it has changed shape into an altar at the very center of this realm. Atop the altar lies the item we are here for. As promised, I have piled all that I know about that resource within this crystal for you to read, and will not utter a single word about it."
Lex grabbed the crystal and read through it. Lex had a few guesses about what the item may be, but he had been pletely wrong!
The item in question was called the Shell of the Primordial Farham! Lex knew that name well, for he had faced the Farham time and time again in his tribulations! He had, naturally, done his research about them and had learned that the Farham race was actually an extinct race from the Primordial Age. Nothing else was known about it, save that they only appeared now in the form of tribulations.
For a race to go extinct in the universe was actually quite difficult, considering that whenever the circumstances for the birth of a race appeared, the universe would naturally let them appear again. The fact that they were extinct either meant that their natural habitat was gone forever, or there was some other mystery about them.
Considering that even Primordial energy could be replicated within the Primordial Garden, it was strange that these beasts could not be born again, thus making it unlikely that they went extinct due to the loss of their habitat.
That, however, wasn’t the only mystery that surrounded these ancient, extinct beasts. For example, even if the Farham were a Primordial race, that did not mean that their existence had anything to do with the Dao. So why, then, was its egg a Dao level material? Could it be that the Farham were born at the Dao Lord level?
That was absurd. If such a powerful race existed, it was basically impossible for them to go extinct. They could be hunted, they could bee the enemies of the universe, but for them to go extinct was much too difficult to imagine!
What’s more, the effect of the shell was to convert Dao radiation into Primordial aura? This was merely a piece of broken shell from an egg that hatched long ago, and it could convert Dao radiation into Primordial aura? That seemed too broken an ability for Lex to even imagine what the actual Farham were like.
Whatever their mysteries were, Lex wasn’t about to solve them any time soon. He had to concern himself with getting his hands on the shell.
According to the research piled by Pelagor, he believed that if the shell left this realm, it would be destroyed by the laws of the Vaelûn universe. Thus, Lex had to absorb or refine it now so that its ability could be used later on, even if only once.
Attached to the data were a number of theories and suggestions for how such a thing may be achieved. They were merely suggestions Pelagor piled while studying the shell in the hopes of being able to use it one day himself. Unfortunately, that day would never e.
Pelagor could not ignore the pressure of the Primordial aura close to the shell, not to mention getting close to the shell itself involved overing great difficulty. Although Pelagor had tried before, as mentioned in the data, he was always too wounded to attempt refining the shell himself.
