Maybe the coffin lid itself has a latch, and when Zhaosi put Shunfeng and the others in, the lid was secured.

As such, when the coffin fell into the water pit, the people inside should still be there.

"Senior—Senior—I’m here!" Shunfeng’s shout ca from beside the water pit.

I slid all the way down and stood by the water pit to see clearly. There was actually a road beside it, and a large... crocodile? Lizard? In any case, it was a four-legged reptile with Shunfeng on its head, shaking it from side to side.

Shunfeng was holding sothing in his hand, which was pierced into the top of the large reptile’s head, firmly embedded. Shunfeng held onto it tightly to avoid being thrown off.

My skin turned green again, and I couldn’t use Karmic Fire anymore. So, I had to jump onto the large reptile and attack its eyes to see if I could scare it away.

But at the mont, my strength couldn’t match this behemoth. My actions were slightly slow, and I was kicked by it, flying into the water pit.

If a normal person were to take this hit, their sternum would likely be broken by now. I moved my limbs to float to the surface, and the nearby coffin moved. The lid was pushed open from the inside, revealing a flash of golden hair, followed by a bulging forehead. Xiangyang was grimacing as she climbed onto the coffin’s edge.

Her eyes caught sight of , and she seed surprised. She then looked around the surroundings, "How are we here? How did we end up in Yellow Springs?"

"We were thrown down here." I explained briefly.

"Oh my god, that’s the Ancient beast guarding Yellow Springs, and it likes to eat people!" Xiangyang said as she searched around the coffin, perhaps looking for a weapon.

"What beast, it’s just a big lizard, and it likes kicking people." I swam to the shore, with Shunfeng almost becoming a Fighting Lizard Warrior. I had to get him down quickly.

Seeing the big lizard about to crash its head against the nearby rock wall, I shouted loudly at Shunfeng, "I’ll distract it, you jump down."

If strength didn’t work, then I’d have to use tricks. I picked up a stone from the shore and swung my arm to throw it at the lizard’s head.

A palm-sized stone hitting it surely wouldn’t hurt, but if it got hit enough tis, it would definitely make it angry.

After throwing it five or six tis, the big lizard indeed got angry from being hit by . Ignoring Shunfeng on its head, it started running towards .

Shunfeng let go and slid down from the lizard’s back. Doing so was quite risky, because the lizard’s tail was as thick as a big tree, and being hit by it would be lethal for Shunfeng.

Luckily, the lizard’s attention was on , charging straight at . Xiangyang scread behind , "I can’t swim!"

"Hide in the coffin, cover the lid and don’t co out." Once this creature is ’activated,’ it won’t stop until a result is achieved. I ran back to the wellhead where I ca down, using the tools on my hands and feet to climb the well wall.

The last part of the wellhead seed custom-made for it, fashioned from an entire rock, pierced and carved to resemble a donut placed over the wellhead. The size was just right to prevent it from passing through.

This design might have been to stop it from escaping. People in ancient tis had all kinds of hobbies; keeping large reptiles as pets wasn’t out of the question.

Xiangyang said it liked eating people. Perhaps its original owner liked to feed it with humans, which made it develop a picky eating habit.

I had such speculation because I had seen similar things happen long, long ago.

By the ti the big lizard chased over, I had already climbed up a certain distance. My plan seed ’safe’—wait for it to calm down after failing to catch food, and when it intended to use sleep to deal with hunger, I planned to sneak back down to bring Xiangyang and Shunfeng up quietly.

But the lizard, for so reason, followed to the narrowing wellhead and started frantically headbutting the rock, as if it had gone mad.

The final outco, naturally, was that it ended up collapsing the wellhead. Rocks and dirt poured down, rumbling loudly, completely burying it under the ’Yellow Springs.’

The entire underground hollow collapsed, the big lizard was crushed to death, and I was quite lucky this ti; what fell on was all dirt, not large stones.

Moreover, the tools on my hands and feet remained, allowing to tunnel through the dirt like a mole and climb out from the pile.

"Shunfeng—Xiangyang?" I looked around at the drastically altered underground space. The rocks and soil above had collapsed, compressing the below space into a small gap. Creatures of a size like the big lizard’s would have been crushed into specins by now, though we could still stand up straight.

Thanks to an entire slab of rock protecting above, we had a bit of breathing room. Hearing Shunfeng’s cries for help, I went over to where he was and started digging. This guy was so bulky, with his coat wrapped around his head. When I dug him out, he took off his coat, his appearance hadn’t changed much; unlike , covered in dust and dirt like a terra cotta warrior.
