We four bought tickets and entered. It was supposedly peak tourist season, so there should have been quite a few visitors in the area, but after making a round, it was only us four in the whole area, and the snack street and souvenir shops were all closed.

"Great, perfect, let’s hurry and find the tomb entrance while no one’s around." Shunfeng was peeking through the shop window to ensure no one was inside and urged .

"Over there." I had received a photo from Zhaosi, which was of the building above the tomb entrance.

After a comparison, I quickly found the house. Not every building inside the film city was open; most were locked and empty, only serving for photography and scenery.

The house above the tomb was a common single-story building in the scenic area, so mundane that tourists probably wouldn’t even choose to take a photo there.

Wen Jing checked the surroundings and found no caras. Shunfeng fiddled with the lock a bit; it was pretty simple and could be picked with a wire or a hairpin.

We entered the house, and before I could notify Zhaosi, the ground started to slowly cave in, dragging us underground. Baozi was so frightened that she almost scread but quickly covered her mouth.

As we sank over two ters, dirt started to cover us and then mysteriously avoided our bodies, filling back the ground as if alive.

Zhaosi has lived here so long; he must be good to keep such secrets from locals and construction crews. Baozi and the others were astonished as we hit firm ground, not actually too far underground.

But as soon as we steadied ourselves, the ground began to sink again, dropping a good hundred ters before stopping.

At the stopping point, a massive door appeared, seemingly made of bronze, with a ring held in a beast’s mouth. I knocked twice, and a familiar voice quickly sounded from inside: "Who is it?"

The voice seed to co from a hole in the door, not like it ca directly from soone on the other side, more like from an intercom.

"It’s , open the door." I said to the small hole.

"You’re here!" Amid joyous laughter, a click sounded from the bronze door.

I grabbed the ring and pulled the door open, Baozi watching bewildered. She asked as we entered, "Fu, are you and Qinghan working together to trick ? This trip isn’t about entering a tomb; it’s about finding a thed hotel or an escape room to fool !"

"Who’s got an escape room a hundred ters underground? No trick, it’s a tomb, and the voice was literally the big zongzi inside. It’s fierce; be careful."

"It is not! You said so yourself; there’s your friend in the tomb... but it’s nothing like I imagined."

Watching Baozi’s troubled face, I couldn’t help but chuckle. She said she thought my friend was a fellow adventurer who got here ahead of us to scout.

But from the intercom on the door and the obviously renovated passageway we walked through, it was clear that soone lived in this tomb!

And it was a modern person, because the floor was tiled with marble and the walls covered with rustic wallpaper, with modern glass sconce lights.

How was I supposed to know Zhaosi remodeled the ancient tomb into this, almost like a thed hotel?

As we passed through the long hallway-slash-tomb passage, soone in equestrian gear walked towards us, head held high.

"My dear en... cicada, long ti no see, I’ve missed you so much," Zhaosi spread his arms, wanting to embrace .

She almost slipped and called my real na, but caught herself in ti, though her pronunciation was a bit off.

"When did you learn to be so two-faced and sly?" I shifted my backpack to the front, blocking her embrace.

"Am I really all those things you said, Wuqing?"

"These are my friends, hand the stuff, I won’t go in for a chat."

"Heartless, heartless, heartless!" Zhaosi covered her face and ran deeper into the hallway.

Wen Jing and the others all wore the sa blank expression, mouths agape, clearly dumbstruck.

"You know, people living in a closed-off environnt long term often end up with issues," I pointed at my head and sighed deeply.

"But... Fu really does seem a bit heartless," Baozi ekly said.

"Yeah, senior, didn’t you say he is your friend? Your attitude just now seed pretty cold."

"Maybe you should go and comfort her?"

The three of them looked at eagerly. I was tempted to explain that the crazy person had a favor to ask, but thinking it over, I decided against it. Idiots need love.

"Alright, I’ll go ’comfort’ her."

"Fu, is she... your ex-boyfriend? Don’t worry, I absolutely won’t tell Qinghan, and you don’t have to be intentionally cold to him."
