Chapter 536: King of Pretentiousness (3)
After successfully getting the upper hand, Shi Sui said gently and innocently, “Brothers, it’s been hard on all of you to travel all the way here. It’s ti for breakfast.”
Xiang Qi thought he found a blind spot so he sprung up and exclaid, “You actually dare to make my sister cook breakfast? There isn’t a rule in our family that states that girls have to cook!”
Although Xiang Yi was a good cook, the Xiang family had never really let her do the cooking.
Even when she cooked, the male mbers of the family were the ones who would usually clean up and do the dishes.
Xiang Yi coughed and said embarrassedly, “Uh… Shi Sui has been the one cooking lately.”
Her hand injury was actually not that serious but Shi Sui treated her like a child who couldn’t take care of herself and refused to let her touch the woks, pants, and spatula.
Xiang Yi was dying to cook and she wished she could swing the large wok dozens of tis.
“…” Xiang Qi didn’t expect to hear that answer. After staying silent for two seconds, he gave full play to an aggressive arguer. “Isn’t it only right for boys to do household chores? It’s already rather late and you still haven’t served breakfast to Xiang Yi. Are you trying to make her starve?”
In Xiang Yi’s eyes, this scene resembled that of a drama in which a vicious and bossy mother-in-law reprimands her young and ek daughter-in-law who concedes for the greater good…
The little girl gently tugged his sleeve and said, “Brother, don’t be an to him…”
Shi Sui answered in ti, “I’m fine, Xiang Yi, Brother is right. I’m going to go make breakfast now.”
Xiang Yi looked at Shi Sui whose eyelashes were drooping nicely. He looked vulnerable and docile, as if he was abiding by the Xiang family’s rules where boys are not allowed to eat at the dining table.
The two looked at each other. Shi Sui seed to have “reluctantly” forced himself to smile before proceeding to take a quick shower. He then began to busy in the kitchen.
The porridge was cooked in advance in the rice cooker at regular intervals. Shi Sui whipped up two dishes, and served the porridge with so pickled vegetables and salted duck eggs. It looked like a sumptious eal.
He placed the dishes on the table and set the table. Just as he was about to take his seat, Xiang Yi stood forth to pick on him again, “We have rules where boys don’t get to sit at the dining table for als!”
Xiang Yi’s eyes widened in shock and she asked, “Since when did this family rule exist? And you’re a boy too, Brother….”
Xiang Qi added, “All boys except for your brother!”
“…”
Well, he was indeed very much like an evil mother-in-law.
Shi Sui whispered, “I’ll do as you say, Brother. You guys carry on, I’ll go to the side and eat so food.”
As he spoke, he carried a bowl of porridge to the stool at the side and sipped on it slowly, taking one mouthful at a ti.
He really looked weak, helpless and pitiful.
This scene sounded extrely sad!
Xiang Yi obviously couldn’t tolerate it. She moved over to sit next to Shi Sui with a bowl of porridge, silently protesting against her brothers’ “old-fashioned mindset”.
“Here’s a duck egg yolk for you.” Xiang Yi gave Shi Sui her duck egg yolk.
Shi Sui declined, “Xiang Yi, don’t bother about , go back and eat with your brothers.”
“I can’t watch you suffer this mistreatnt!”
“It’s okay for to suffer a little.”
Hearing the conversation between the two, Xiang Qi was puzzled.
‘Excuse ?’
‘I just want to bully Shi Sui, why did I end up pushing Xiang Yi to him instead!?’
“By the way, Xiang Yi, I accidentally broke your apron…” Shi Sui sighed and said, “That’s the unique apron that Brother exclusively made for you. I’m sorry, I will try to sew it up later.”
The two of them were listening to their conversation attentively and when they heard this, they beca anxious.
“You know how to sew? Bullsh*t! Where’s the apron? Let do it!!!”
