Jingyu Garden

Qiao Yuxian brought Zhaocai and Dou Jin to the study.

Zhaocai lay on the carpet by her feet.

Dou Jin looked around the desk, sniffing here and there.

Qiao Yuxian dealt with so of the less urgent work from Xi i dia and Yunzhong Building.

Every now and then, she would pet Zhaocai, then Dou Jin.

At noon, she took them downstairs for lunch and then back to the study to continue working.

Huo Yanxin still hadn’t returned.

It wasn’t until five in the afternoon that Qiao Yuxian finished her work and leaned back in the chair.

"Ah, I’m so tired my eyes are seeing stars," Qiao Yuxian said, dragging her voice.

Zhaocai rubbed its head against her ankle.

Qiao Yuxian dropped her arm to pet its head.

Dou Jin had already fallen asleep beside the computer.

Qiao Yuxian pet Zhaocai, looked at Dou Jin, then leaned back in the chair with her eyes closed for a while, before getting up to pour herself a glass of water.

But as soon as she stood up, she had to hold onto the table.

She really was seeing stars.

Qiao Yuxian paused for a mont, felt a bit better, and didn’t think much of it as she went to pour a glass of water.

She drank half the glass, leaving the other half on the desk. She sat back in the chair and started tidying the docunts on the desk.

She had printed a lot of docunts.

She kept the useful ones.

So that weren’t needed were scattered everywhere.

After tidying up, she put them together.

Qiao Yuxian opened a drawer looking for a stapler, wanting to staple them together.

There must be a stapler, because she had seen Gu Yanjing use one, but she didn’t know where it was.

There wasn’t one on the desk, so she opened the drawer to search.

Dou Jin woke up when she was smoothing out the papers.

Perhaps it found her smoothing of papers amusing, as it kept pawing at her hand.

Now, as she looked for the stapler, it was still chasing her, trying to paw at her hand.

It seed to want her to pick up the papers and smooth them out again.

"Be good, let find a stapler and then I’ll play with you," Qiao Yuxian said, opening another drawer.

No stapler, but instead a stack of docunts with a few diamonds on top.

The diamonds were toys she usually played with when sitting by Gu Yanjing.

She had casually tossed them on the table, Gu Yanjing must have put them away.

Qiao Yuxian picked up a diamond, about to close the drawer, when Dou Jin knocked over the cup on the desk with its paw.

Qiao Yuxian quickly grabbed the cup, but she was still a step too late.

Water spilled into the drawer.

"Ah! Dou Jin!" Qiao Yuxian called out softly, setting the cup aside and quickly taking the docunts out of the drawer.

Though her voice wasn’t loud, Dou Jin suddenly leapt up, slipped on the desk, and quickly ran away.

Zhaocai also got up imdiately and ran to the door.

It opened the door for Dou Jin.

Dou Jin ran out of the study.

Zhaocai brought over so tissues from the coffee table for Qiao Yuxian.

Qiao Yuxian, holding the stack of docunts, shook the water off them. She took the tissues Zhaocai brought and said, "Thank you."

After speaking, she shook them twice more, then mumbled to Zhaocai, "Seems like there’s trouble. These docunts should be quite important. This drawer is quite low, generally signifies important things are placed here."

"Oh well, maybe we should just leave ho again," Qiao Yuxian said, "I’m afraid Gu Yanjing will get mad."

Zhaocai either didn’t understand or didn’t care, and just howled with its neck raised.

Qiao Yuxian wiped the water spilled on the desk.

Then she placed the docunts on the table and wiped the water off the top.

The docunts were quite thick, and a few pages inside were wet too, Qiao Yuxian lifted a few pages, wiping each one.

After wiping five pages, she suddenly saw her own na at the bottom right corner of that page.

It happened that the last three words on that page were her na, then the page turned.

Qiao Yuxian really didn’t have the habit of prying into others’ secrets.

Even if that person was her husband.

So she intentionally didn’t look at the content.

But suddenly seeing her own na made her curious.

Since her na was written there, it ant she could look, right?

So Qiao Yuxian took a look.

A thick stack of papers.

She leafed through, not knowing how many tis, reading word by word.

Gu Yanjing ca back from work, not finding anyone downstairs, hearing from Aunt i that Qiao Yuxian was in the study.

He went straight to the study.

Opening the door, he saw Qiao Yuxian looking at his computer.

He closed the door, walked over to her, and only then noticed her mood was off.

Qiao Yuxian’s gaze moved from the computer and looked up at him.

Gu Yanjing noticed her eyes were red.

He squatted in front of her, looked up at her, and asked, "What’s wrong?"

Qiao Yuxian looked at him.

Gu Yanjing raised his hand to touch her face, but Qiao Yuxian turned her head away to avoid it.

His hand froze for a mont, then he put it down.

In the ti it took for him to lower his hand, Gu Yanjing’s mind raced with many thoughts.

But he couldn’t figure out what he had done to upset her, so he asked again, "What’s wrong?"

Qiao Yuxian looked at him, paused, swallowed the lump in her throat, and asked in a slightly hoarse voice, "Gu Yanjing. If Uncle Wen is your man who fought in Qiang’an Mountain, how do you plan to handle this?"

Gu Yanjing’s expression froze, and only then did he notice the open drawer, "I..."

Qiao Yuxian didn’t listen to him, saying again, "The person at Qiang’an Mountain is Shang Chen’s man. Shang Chen will definitely take responsibility for his people. What about you? Will you take responsibility for Shang Chen on this matter?"

So if Wen Mingcheng really was his man who got into the fight, then Qiao Yuxian would ultimately have to face Gu Yanjing directly.

Gu Yanjing remained silent.

"If I want revenge, I would ultimately co to you," Qiao Yuxian said, her eyes reddening again, "So, is this the solution you ca up with, the one you promised we wouldn’t separate on?"

She still rembered Gu Yanjing telling her they wouldn’t be apart.

He had said it very definitively.

But at that ti... she hadn’t thought much about it.

Later, she just forgot about the matter.

She read those docunts again and again many tis, and later checked when this docunt appeared on Gu Yanjing’s computer.

It was during their ti on D Continent, when Wen Mingcheng had not yet woken up.

Gu Yanjing looked into her eyes, unable to speak for a mont.

Qiao Yuxian picked up the thick stack of docunts from the table, looked at Gu Yanjing, and said, "What kind of bullshit did you write in here?! What do you an by if you weren’t around, the Gu Group, Yujing Manor, and all those things would belong to ? What do you an by no one is allowed to pursue any responsibility? What do you an by everyone must listen to ?!"

As Qiao Yuxian spoke, her voice grew louder, until she was almost shouting by the end.

Her throat was hoarse beyond recognition, tinged with sobs.

Tears were streaming down her face.

Her tears falling shook Gu Yanjing’s heart as well.

He reached out to wipe her tears.

"Don’t touch ." Qiao Yuxian pushed his hand away, tearing up the docunts and throwing them on the floor while yelling, "And the signatures, the signatures! Who gave you permission to sign the docunts?! What do you an effective imdiately after you’re gone?! Did I agree? Did I agree?!"
