Chapter 94: An Apology Is Impossible

It all happened so fast that Claire Ainsworth didn’t even have ti to react before the slap landed on her face.

Because of the confined space, Rachel Royce hadn’t been able to use her full strength in the slap.

The driver standing to the side was the first to react. He stepped forward and imdiately stood in front of Rachel Royce. "Miss, what are you doing?"

The woman before him was soone his young miss was interested in, so the driver didn’t dare to be too confrontational.

Rachel Royce stared coldly at Claire Ainsworth. "Compared to what you did to , this slap is getting off easy."

With that said,

She turned to walk away.

"Evelynn!"

Claire Ainsworth shouted, her voice sharp with fury.

No one had ever dared to hit her in her entire life.

How dare this bitch slap her.

Rachel Royce stopped and turned back to look at Claire Ainsworth, who had gotten out of the car. Her expression was so hateful it looked like she wanted to eat Rachel alive.

"You dare hit ? I see you don’t want to stay in Kingsland anymore!"

Rachel Royce gave a cold, mocking laugh. She ignored her, looked away, and walked back to Julian Jennings. "Let’s go."

Julian Jennings nodded lightly and followed her toward the inpatient building.

Claire Ainsworth’s eyes narrowed as she stared at their retreating backs, grinding her teeth in fury. Suddenly, she backhanded her driver across the face and snapped, "What are you good for?"

The driver quickly bowed his head and apologized, "Miss Ainsworth, I’m sorry."

As Rachel Royce walked up the steps, a wave of dizziness washed over her, and she swayed.

Julian Jennings quickly reached out to steady her, asking worriedly, "Is your head bothering you?"

Rachel Royce took a mont to recover. "I’m fine, just a little dizzy."

"Can you still walk?"

Rachel Royce nodded.

They reached the hospital room.

lissa was already waiting for her inside.

A doctor followed them into the room to examine her. lissa watched from the side, her face etched with worry.

It was nothing serious, likely due to Rachel Royce’s recent emotional fluctuations. With so good rest, she would be fine.

"Thank you, Doctor."

Julian Jennings expressed his thanks.

The doctor turned and left the room.

Just then, Julian Jennings’s phone vibrated. He picked it up, glanced at the screen, and then said to Rachel Royce, "I’m going to step out to take a call."

"Okay."

Julian Jennings stepped out of the room and answered the phone. "Hello, President Sullivan."

The call was from none other than Suzanne Sullivan.

"Julian, Claire just told she was hit by Evelynn?"

Claire Ainsworth had just tearfully recounted the whole incident to Suzanne Sullivan, who felt sorry for her after hearing it.

Julian Jennings didn’t deny it. "Evelynn did slap Miss Ainsworth. She’s been holding in a lot of anger because of what happened before."

Suzanne Sullivan let out a heavy sigh and was silent for a mont before asking, "So how do you think we should resolve this?"

Julian Jennings replied, "If you’re hoping for Evelynn to apologize, that’s definitely not going to happen."

The line went silent again. After a mont, she said, "Julian, you seem to value her quite a bit."

"After all, it wasn’t easy to get her to join Rowan. Since she’s one of Rowan’s people, of course I have to protect her."

Julian didn’t elaborate. "Alright, I understand," he said.

He hung up.

Then, Julian Jennings received another call, this ti from Leo Howard.

A few minutes later, he turned and went back into the hospital room.

"Sothing ca up at the office. I have to go take care of it."

It was sothing Rachel Royce should have handled, but since she needed to rest, Julian Jennings had told Leo Howard to contact him directly with any work matters.

Rachel Royce’s lips curved into a small smile. "And here I am, making the big boss help with my work."

Julian Jennings smiled. "You need to recover so you can generate profits for . I can’t have you working while you’re sick; that would be counterproductive."

Rachel Royce smiled back. "Alright then."

"I’ll have soone bring up lunch for you," he said, then turned to lissa. "What would you like to eat, lissa?"

The nanny said, "I’ve already prepared lunch and snacks for the young miss."

Julian Jennings humd in acknowledgnt and said goodbye to lissa.

lissa waved goodbye to Julian Jennings.

Not long after Julian Jennings left the room, Rachel Royce’s phone vibrated. Seeing the caller ID, she answered, "Hello...?"

Before she could finish, Thomas Sterling’s anxious voice ca through, "Rachel, are you okay? Why didn’t you tell sothing happened?"

Joanna Sutton had tried to find Julian Jennings today for sothing, but he wasn’t at the company. When she found out he had rushed to Athera, she thought sothing had gone wrong with Rachel Royce’s work and called him imdiately.

Julian Jennings had told her the truth: "She’s fine, just a concussion and a minor head injury. It’s nothing serious, so don’t worry. You don’t need to rush over. We’ll be back after we’ve handled the work here."

Joanna Sutton had breathed a sigh of relief and didn’t insist on going over anymore.

However, she had let it slip in a group chat today.

That was how Thomas Sterling found out about Rachel Royce’s car accident.

Rachel Royce said, "I’m doing fine now. I’ll be okay after so rest. Don’t worry."

Thomas Sterling asked, "How could you get into a car accident out of nowhere?"

Rachel Royce didn’t want to worry him, so she didn’t explain the cause. But he told her he was already on his way to the high-speed rail station.

Rachel Royce felt helpless, knowing she definitely wouldn’t be able to talk him out of it, so she gave up.

Hearing that Rachel Royce’s tone of voice was normal, Thomas Sterling finally felt relieved.

After hanging up, Rachel Royce put down her phone, only to hear lissa say, "Aunt Evelynn, I think I heard my Mr. Ford’s voice. Do you know my Mr. Ford?"

Rachel Royce froze for a second. Looking at lissa, the realization dawned on her belatedly. Of course, she denied it. "Who is lissa’s Mr. Ford? The voices probably just sound similar."

lissa said, "Oh," half-believing her.

「At noon.」

A nurse brought her lunch.

lissa’s lunch had been prepared in advance by the nanny.

lissa happily ate lunch with Rachel Royce, even giving Rachel so of her own food.

「After lunch.」

Rachel Royce drew pictures with lissa.

After a little while,

lissa grew sleepy and was ready for her scheduled nap.

Rachel Royce took off lissa’s shoes and placed her on the bed.

"Aunt Evelynn, you should lie down too."

Rachel Royce lay down on her side next to lissa, and the nanny left the room.

lissa looked at Rachel Royce lying beside her and snuggled into her arms.

"Aunt Evelynn, you sll so nice. I like your scent."

Rachel Royce’s eyes filled with gentle affection. She patted lissa’s back. "Alright, go to sleep now."

Resting in Rachel Royce’s arms, lissa quickly fell asleep.

Drowsiness washed over Rachel Royce as well, and she fell asleep holding lissa.

「In the corridor outside the hospital room.」

The nanny was sitting on a bench, keeping watch.

Suddenly, she noticed a figure striding toward her. She stood up, looked at the newcor, and called out respectfully, "Sir!"
