Chapter 77: Coffee Splashed on the Man’s Face

To think she’d run into him here of all places.

’Fate really has a twisted sense of humor,’ she thought.

Tristan Sterling ordered a coffee. He was probably waiting for soone too.

Rachel Royce focused on her laptop screen, treating the man in front of her like he was thin air.

During this ti, she got a call from Julian Jennings. He said he would arrive in about ten minutes.

"Okay."

Rachel Royce put down her phone and got up to go to the restroom.

When she returned,

she found the man sitting directly across from her.

Rachel Royce was completely stunned.

Tristan Sterling’s dark eyes were deep and somber as he watched her.

Rachel Royce snapped back to reality. She took a step forward, looked at him, and reminded him, "President Sterling, this seat is taken."

Tristan Sterling took out his phone and demanded in an overbearing tone, "What’s your phone number?"

Rachel Royce’s eyes widened slightly as she stared at him.

She heard the man’s cold voice say, "Don’t get the wrong idea. I’m not interested in you. My daughter wants your..."

Before the man could finish,

Rachel Royce grabbed her coffee cup and splashed its contents directly onto his face.

The dark coffee trickled down his cheeks and neck, instantly staining a large patch of his collar. The bangs on his forehead were soaked.

The scene left everyone nearby in a state of shock.

Rachel Royce grabbed her laptop and bag, turned, and strode away.

Seeing this, a waiter hurried to get a wet towel.

Rachel Royce hadn’t gone far when she ran into soone walking toward her.

The man was dressed casually in a white t-shirt and light-colored, straight-leg pants. He had a reserved and steady temperant, but compared to five years ago, there seed to be a new glint of ruthlessness in his eyes.

Rachel Royce rely glanced at him before walking straight past.

Suzanne Sullivan, however, stood frozen, not snapping out of it until she had walked far away. He glanced back, watching until her figure disappeared.

He withdrew his gaze and headed toward the balcony, where he saw Tristan Sterling wiping his face with a towel, his damp bangs hanging in strands over his forehead.

As he got closer, he caught the strong sll of coffee on him.

Suzanne Sullivan was surprised and asked, "Did soone splash that on you?"

He couldn’t help but think of the woman who had just stord off, clutching her laptop.

Tristan Sterling’s face was dark. He returned the towel to the waiter, then stood up and said, "Let’s go sowhere else. I need to go change my clothes first."

The two of them went downstairs together.

Tristan Sterling scowled the entire ti, so Suzanne Sullivan didn’t dare press the issue.

When they reached the first floor,

Suzanne Sullivan once again saw the woman he had just encountered, now sitting on a sofa and talking on the phone.

Rachel Royce seed to sense sothing and looked up to see the two n coming down the stairs. When she saw Tristan Sterling, she t his icy gaze fixed on her.

Rachel Royce couldn’t help but roll her eyes before coldly averting her gaze.

Suzanne Sullivan looked at Tristan Sterling again and saw that the man’s already foul expression had turned even worse.

It was obvious now.

She was the one who had thrown the coffee on Tristan Sterling.

The two n headed for the main entrance.

Just then,

Julian Jennings walked in through the door. He paused for a second when he saw the two n, especially Tristan Sterling, but quickly composed himself and greeted them with a smile. "President Sterling, President Sullivan. Long ti no see."

Suzanne Sullivan replied, "It has been a while. How have you been?"

Julian Jennings grunted in affirmation. "Everything’s been good."

Suzanne Sullivan gave a slight nod.

After a brief exchange of greetings, they said their goodbyes.

Tristan Sterling and Suzanne Sullivan strode away.

Julian Jennings walked into the lobby, saw Rachel Royce on the sofa, and strode over to sit across from her.

"I ordered you a coffee," Rachel Royce said.

Julian Jennings picked up the coffee and took a sip. "It’s very rich," he comnted. Setting the cup down, he said, "I just ran into Tristan Sterling."

Rachel Royce had said on the phone that she was on the second floor, but now she was on the first. And it was obvious that Suzanne Sullivan and Tristan Sterling had just co down from the second floor.

Rachel Royce just humd softly, not wanting to say more.

’Tristan wanted her number because lissa asked for it. Now that she’d cald down, she felt a pang of regret. She could have used it as a chance to contact her daughter more, just to hear her voice.’

’But Tristan’s sarcastic tone and infuriating attitude just now were too much to bear.’

’Then again, if she were in frequent contact with her daughter, she was afraid she wouldn’t be able to control her emotions.’

Seeing that her expression was off, Julian Jennings had a rough idea of what happened and didn’t press her further.

"Take a look at the data I just organized."

Rachel Royce turned her laptop to face him.

Julian Jennings looked at the screen.

The two of them then started discussing business.

They had lunch together.

「Around two o’clock.」

Rachel Royce drove to the TV station. She hosted a live broadcast every Saturday at eight p.m.

「That evening.」

After washing up and changing into her pajamas, lissa sat on the sofa and asked her grandfather to change the TV to the channel she wanted to watch.

For the past few days,

lissa had been staying at her grandparents’ house.

Sylvia Shannon had canceled all her appointnts to stay ho with her, and Tristan Sterling had been coming back here every evening.

Harrison Sterling thought his granddaughter wanted to watch cartoons.

He was surprised to see she wanted to watch the news and said with a chuckle, "lissa, you’re watching the news at such a young age."

Sylvia Shannon ca over with a milk bottle and sat beside lissa. lissa took the bottle and drank obediently. Sylvia stroked her little head, her eyes full of gentle adoration, and said, "Our lissa has always been smart. She’s definitely going to do great things when she grows up."

lissa had perfectly inherited the excellent genes of Tristan Sterling and Rachel Royce. She had a great mory and was a fast learner. She could already hold daily conversations in English, and her calligraphy was beautiful.

Harrison Sterling had a piece of lissa’s calligraphy hanging in his office.

Whenever soone entered his office and asked about it, Harrison Sterling would proudly tell them it was his granddaughter’s work.

This often earned him praise from others.

They would remark that the Sterling family’s precious, one-and-only heiress was truly soone no ordinary man could hope to marry.

lissa was truly their pride and joy.

She was also so beautiful and cute. lissa’s features currently favored Tristan Sterling more, except for her eyes, which were probably just like Rachel Royce’s.

Sylvia Shannon and Harrison Sterling watched the news with lissa.

「Eight o’clock.」

Rachel Royce appeared on the TV screen right on ti.

lissa shouted excitedly, "Pretty Auntie!"

Harrison Sterling and Sylvia Shannon were confused.

The news program had just finished when Tristan Sterling returned.

"You’re back,"

Sylvia Shannon said.

Now that lissa was here, she was finally seeing her son co ho early.

When lissa saw her father, she ran toward him, yelling, "Daddy!"

Tristan Sterling bent down and scooped his daughter into his arms.

After Tristan Sterling had put lissa to sleep,

Harrison Sterling asked, "Who is this Evelyn, the host of the XX TV financial news program? How does lissa know her?"

Tristan Sterling gave a brief explanation.

Sylvia Shannon couldn’t help but worry, but lissa had always been so well-protected. It was impossible for anyone to approach her so casually.

Even so, Sylvia Shannon remained on high alert.

Sylvia Shannon said, "lissa wants to invite soone over for dinner. Your father and I have tentatively agreed. What do you think?"

When it ca to lissa’s requests, they had always been the type to grant her every wish, to the point they would have plucked the moon from the sky for her.

So when lissa made such a request, neither Sylvia Shannon nor Harrison Sterling could bring themselves to refuse. They were afraid their granddaughter would be unhappy at the slightest misstep, so they had provisionally agreed.
