Chapter 239: Just Making It Up to You

Rachel Royce averted her gaze, looking toward lissa. "We’ll see," she said. Tristan Sterling didn’t press her. "If you have any ideas, feel free to contact anyti." Rachel didn’t respond.

"Mommy!" lissa suddenly shouted excitedly, running over to Rachel. "Mommy, look! It’s so pretty." lissa held the exquisite box in her hands up high to show Rachel.

Rachel looked at the box, which contained a necklace crafted with several sapphires and diamonds. The gemstones glittered with a brilliant fire.

She couldn’t help but be stunned by the dazzling brilliance of the gems.

She had happened to see this necklace before—in a picture, of course. It was an image June Jennings had sent her.

At the ti, she had been flipping through a jewelry magazine and had fallen for this sapphire necklace at first sight. Rachel had been captivated the mont she saw the picture, so it had left a very deep impression on her.

Of course, the price was also stunning, listed at thirty million US dollars. It had been handcrafted over two years by a top international jewelry master. It was the only one of its kind in the world, featuring a Kashmir sapphire.

Now, seeing it in person, it was far more breathtaking than it had been in the photograph.

June Jennings had called to inquire about it back then, but the necklace had already been reserved by soone.

She never expected that, in the blink of an eye, the real thing would be right in front of her.

Tristan Sterling noticed the change in her eyes and curled his lips into a smile. "Like it?" Rachel snapped back to reality, pulling her gaze away to stare at him. Before she could say anything, she heard lissa exclaim excitedly, "Mommy, let lissa put it on you." Rachel took the velvet box and closed it. "Alright, lissa, let’s not. This is too valuable. Let your daddy put it away." lissa pouted. "Just try it on, Mommy!" Rachel just smiled without responding. "lissa, go upstairs by yourself for a bit. I need to talk to your daddy." lissa looked at her father.

Tristan Sterling looked down at lissa, gently stroking the back of her head. "lissa, go on upstairs for now," he said softly. "Daddy, you have to say nice things to Mommy, okay? I taught you how." Tristan smiled. "Daddy knows." Only then did lissa feel at ease enough to go upstairs by herself.

After lissa left, Rachel held the box out to him. "I don’t know what you’re trying to do, Tristan Sterling, but I won’t accept your things. You should give this to soone who needs it." Tristan glanced at the box she was offering, then looked up toward the second floor.

Rachel noticed his glance and looked back over her shoulder, only to see lissa peeking at them with her little head poked out.

When she saw her mommy and daddy looking over, lissa giggled. "lissa didn’t overhear anything."

Rachel raised her voice. "lissa, be good and go back to your room." Although she really wanted to supervise her daddy, she had no choice but to obediently return to her room.

Once she was sure lissa had left, Tristan finally spoke. "Since it was a gift for you, it’s yours. Whether you want to give it away or sell it is up to you."

Rachel lowered her gaze. "Tristan Sterling, do you really have to be this way?" She then heard the man say, "I’m just trying to make it up to you."

Hearing this, Rachel’s pupils contracted. She felt as if she must be hearing things. ’Are those words a man like him is even capable of saying?’

"If you really want to make it up to , then divorce . Stay far away from ." Tristan’s expression remained unchanged. "Alright, go upstairs and be with lissa. Don’t let her worry." "Tristan Sterling!" The man just gave a faint smile, then turned and strode out the door.

Rachel stood frozen, her eyes locked on the man’s departing back.

Peter Preston happened to be returning ho from work just then. When he entered the living room and saw Tristan Sterling, he faltered, and his expression darkened.

Tristan looked at him and gave a slight, humble nod in greeting.

Peter stared at him without a word of response.

Tristan walked straight out the door.

Peter glanced back at the man, then turned his gaze to Rachel, who was standing at the foot of the stairs. A housekeeper ca forward to take his coat.

He walked over to Rachel and asked, "Rachel, what was Tristan Sterling doing here?" "lissa is staying with ," Rachel said. Peter noticed what she was holding. "What’s this?" "A gift from Tristan." Peter took it and opened it for a look. Though he didn’t know much about gemstone necklaces, he could tell from its quality that it was incredibly valuable.

"This necklace can’t have been cheap." "No," Rachel said. "It’s worth over two hundred million." Although Peter had guessed the necklace was expensive, he hadn’t imagined it would be *that* expensive.

"What on earth does Tristan Sterling an by this?" "Who knows." After all, no matter what she said—whether it was about divorce or sothing else—he just pretended not to hear and kept doing things his own way.

"You should find a chance to give this necklace back to him." Peter closed the box and handed it to Rachel.

"I know," Rachel said. ’I’m definitely not going to keep this necklace.’

「Back in the bedroom.」

lissa was sitting obediently on the bed, waiting.

When she saw her mommy co in, she asked, "Mommy, is Daddy gone?"

Rachel grunted in affirmation. "He’s gone." Seeing the box in her mother’s hand, lissa stood up on the bed. "Mommy would look so pretty wearing the necklace. lissa wants to see!" Rachel put the necklace in the bedside table drawer and reached out to hug lissa. "Alright, we’re not wearing it today." lissa looked at her mother. "Then Mommy can wear it tomorrow when she’s all dressed up." Rachel stroked lissa’s little head and coaxed her, "Okay, we’ll talk about it tomorrow. It’s ti for bed."

After coaxing lissa to sleep, Rachel worked for a little while longer.

「The next three days.」

lissa stayed at the Royce family’s ho. Since Rachel was busy with work, Johnson Royce and Florence Preston took care of lissa. The little girl had gotten used to staying there and no longer cried at night like she used to.

「That afternoon.」

Tristan Sterling dropped lissa off at the Royce family ho, bringing with him many expensive health supplents.

"Mr. Royce, Grandma Preston, this is from my daddy for you." With lissa present, Johnson Royce and Florence Preston couldn’t say much, but their displeasure and disdain for Tristan Sterling were written all over their faces.

Tristan Sterling was polite. "Thank you both for taking care of lissa." Florence Preston looked at him, a cold smile playing on her lips. "I never thought I’d live to see the day President Sterling would say sothing so polite." Tristan’s expression remained unreadable.

He didn’t stay long. After saying goodbye to lissa, he left.

When Rachel returned that evening, she learned that Tristan Sterling had brought gifts again. Florence Preston had specifically looked them up and found that the items were worth tens of millions.

"I’d love for that mother-daughter pair from the Ainsworth family to find out. They’d probably cough up blood from anger." Although Florence Preston was unhappy with Tristan, the thought of Jane Sullivan and Claire Ainsworth throwing a powerless fit made her feel just a little bit better.

Rachel really wanted to call him and demand an explanation.

’But given that scumbag’s character, I know I won’t get a straight answer.’

"Mom, just keep the things for now." "They’re all unopened. It’s not like we want his stuff." "Okay."
