Chapter 164: Psycho

Rachel Royce hadn’t wanted to deal with Tristan Sterling, but she couldn’t just swallow her anger.

She texted back a single word: Psycho!

After sending it, she blocked him imdiately.

But even after cursing him out, the frustration pent up in her chest didn’t ease.

Rachel was so furious she wanted to throw her phone.

lissa turned and saw Rachel about to throw her phone. Rachel noticed lissa looking, but it was too late to hide her expression.

"Aunt Evelynn, are you angry?" lissa got up, walked over to Rachel, and placed a small hand on her knee.

Looking at the adorable little girl, so of Rachel’s anger dissipated.

She reached out and hugged her. "A hug from you and Auntie won’t be angry anymore."

lissa imdiately wrapped her arms around Rachel’s neck, then turned her head and kissed her on the cheek. "Anyone who makes Aunt Evelynn angry is a bad person. We’ll have Daddy teach them a lesson."

Rachel just smiled.

Stella ca over, wanting hugs and kisses too.

Rachel hugged Stella as well.

Innocent, adorable children were truly the best dicine for any unhappiness.

Rachel’s mood improved considerably.

「Elsewhere.」

Tristan Sterling glanced at the single word that appeared on his phone, let out a soft chuckle, and set the device aside.

"What are you laughing at? It’s kind of creepy," Franklin Fitzwilliam asked, looking at him.

Tristan and two of his company’s senior executives were at a dinner eting with Franklin and two other high-ranking governnt officials.

They had mostly finished eating and were now discussing business.

Tristan lifted his glass, took a sip of wine, and said flatly, "It’s nothing."

Just then, Franklin’s phone vibrated. It was a call from William Jensen. He answered imdiately, his tone affectionate. "Honey."

Tristan shot him a sidelong glance.

Franklin just smiled back at him.

"I know, I haven’t had much to drink. I’ll definitely be back on ti to go to bed with you."

"..."

After Franklin hung up,

soone teased, "Minister Fitzwilliam and his spouse are so close. It really makes you envious! Hahaha!"

Franklin replied, "Chief Lawson, what’s there to envy about ? I’ve heard Mrs. Lawson holds you in high regard, and your child is so outstanding they even got into Kingsland University this year. You’re the one to be envied."

Another person at the table rcilessly exposed him. "Don’t be fooled by his impressive deanor. He’s completely henpecked. His wife just gives him face in public. The last ti I went to his house, I found him kneeling on a keyboard."

Chief Lawson denied it. "What are you talking about? I just let her have her way."

"Alright, then I’ll call your wife right now and ask her," the other person said, pretending to grab their phone.

Chief Lawson snatched the phone away. "Talk is talk, but making a call is going too far!"

The group erupted in laughter.

Just then, Chief Lawson’s phone happened to ring. He glanced at the screen and quickly stepped out to take the call.

"That must be his wife."

Chief Lawson ignored them.

"..."

For a while, the conversation at the dinner table turned to everyone’s wives and children.

Only Tristan Sterling sat to the side, drinking his wine without expression, as if he were completely detached from it all.

Franklin glanced at him but didn’t say anything.

「Around nine o’clock.」

The dinner party concluded.

Everyone said their goodbyes and began to leave.

Franklin looked at Tristan and asked, "Is lissa not ho today?"

If lissa were ho, Tristan would have left long ago to be with his daughter.

Tristan just grunted in affirmation, not saying anything more.

Franklin clapped him on the shoulder. "Doesn’t that an you’ll be all alone tonight?"

Tristan slapped his hand away and got directly into his car.

Franklin watched the man’s retreating back, sighed helplessly, and then got into his own car and left.

After the two children were asleep,

Rachel went to the study to find Peter Preston. He was still on the phone, and from the conversation, Rachel could tell he was talking to Henry York.

When the call ended,

Rachel asked, "Brother, have you made your decision?"

She had just overheard Peter telling Henry that he would accept the valuation adjustnt chanism agreent.

Peter said, "We’ve co this far. I have to accept it whether I want to or not."

It was equivalent to betting the entire company.

If he succeeded, Prodigy’s market value would double, and Peter’s personal net worth would skyrocket.

But if he failed, Prodigy would no longer belong to him, and he would be saddled with massive debt.

Facing a ten-billion-dollar bet, this was an absolute high-stakes gamble.

Rachel asked, "Then what about the collaboration with Ascendant?"

Peter said, "Raymond Reynolds only signed a letter of intent. I’ll accept the VAM agreent, but I won’t accept the collaboration with Ascendant. Raymond and I will go to Ascendant tomorrow to negotiate."

Since the other party was pressuring them so intensely, he couldn’t let them have their way on everything.

Rachel nodded. "Brother, we will definitely win."

Peter smiled. "We will. Okay, Mom told you just got back from the hospital. Go get so rest."

"You should get so rest too, Brother. You’ll need all your energy to win this tough fight."

"I know."

"..."

When Rachel returned to her room, June Jennings quickly asked, "Rachel, what did your brother say?"

Rachel replied, "My brother is prepared. Let’s just trust him!"

June said, "Should I invest so money, then?"

She was a ten-billion-dollar heiress, after all.

Rachel said, "That’s sothing you’ll have to ask him about."

June understood what she ant and said with a smile, "Alright, I’ll ask him later."

「The next day.」

Peter Preston went to the office first thing in the morning.

When Rachel woke up, the pain in her stomach had subsided.

Florence Preston ca over with a bowl of freshly brewed traditional dicine. "Rachel, co drink your dicine."

Rachel slled the potent aroma, braced herself against the bitterness, and drank it all in one go.

Seeing Rachel finish the dicine,

lissa imdiately held out a piece of candy. "Aunt Evelynn, eat this candy, and it won’t be bitter anymore."

Rachel took it. "Thank you, sweetie."

lissa was overjoyed to be called that by Rachel. "Daddy calls sweetie, too."

Rachel smiled warmly.

She couldn’t deny Tristan Sterling’s love for lissa.

After breakfast,

Rachel and June Jennings took the two children to kindergarten.

While they were chatting, June ntioned she was planning to take ti off to bring her child back to Portington for her grandfather’s birthday celebration. "My brother said you also sent a gift for my grandfather. Aren’t you going to Portington for a business trip? You should co to his birthday banquet while you’re there."

Rachel then rembered. Since she was going to Portington anyway, she should definitely attend the birthday celebration.

lissa overheard their conversation and looked at Rachel. "Aunt Evelynn, I want to go with you, too."

Rachel looked at lissa.

As she hesitated, unsure how to answer,

Stella imdiately piped up, "Yay! I can bring lissa to my house to play!"

June smiled and said to Rachel, "Why don’t you bring lissa along!"

「Back at the office.」

Ian Quinn found her. "Rachel, are you feeling better?"

Rachel replied, "I’m fine now, President Quinn. You don’t need to worry."

"That’s good. We were originally supposed to go to Portington today, but considering you were suddenly hospitalized, we’ll go tomorrow morning instead."

Rachel said, "Okay. How are things with the professor?"

Ian Quinn sighed. "Things are still at a stalemate. The other party is coming on really strong this ti. Eastgate’s stock price was falling this morning."

Rachel’s expression grew serious.

"He probably won’t be able to make it back for Grandpa Jennings’s birthday. We’ll have to present the gift and wish him a happy birthday on his behalf."

"Okay."

「After lunch.」

Rachel Royce gave Tristan Sterling a call.
