Chapter 124: He Knows Everything

"Great-grandma is sick?" lissa’s little face imdiately filled with worry.

"Yes!"

lissa pursed her little lips. She wanted to go to Aunt Evelynn’s house, but she was also worried about her great-grandmother’s health.

She turned and walked over to Rachel Royce, saying, "Aunt Evelynn, can we go see Great-grandma together? After we visit her, we can go to your house."

When Sylvia Shannon heard this, she shot Rachel a look filled with a stern warning.

Rachel, of course, noticed. She sneered inwardly and said gently to lissa, "Of course!"

Sylvia Shannon’s expression imdiately darkened.

"Yay," lissa said happily, then turned to her grandmother. "Grandma, let’s get in the car and go see Great-grandma!"

When Sylvia Shannon looked at her granddaughter, she had already composed her expression.

Of course, Rachel didn’t want to go, but she just couldn’t stand Sylvia Shannon’s attitude.

「Half an hour later.」

The car arrived at the Sterling family’s ancestral ho.

"Aunt Evelynn, I’ll be right back."

Sylvia Shannon left with lissa.

Sitting alone in the car, Rachel suddenly felt a wave of unease. She let out a self-deprecating laugh. ’What’s the point of provoking Sylvia Shannon like this?’

She waited for about ten minutes.

Then, Rachel saw Thomas Sterling.

She pushed the door open, got out, and called, "Thomas."

When Thomas Sterling heard his na and saw Rachel, he was startled. He strode forward and asked, "Rachel, what are you doing here?"

Rachel gave a bitter smile. "Waiting for lissa."

Thomas had just seen his second aunt with lissa.

Seeing Thomas’s confusion, Rachel explained, "I was about to take lissa to my place, but your second aunt suddenly showed up and said Madam Sterling was sick."

Thomas understood. "She just caught a cold yesterday. She’s much better today. You said you were taking lissa to your place—did my cousin agree to that?"

Rachel humd in affirmation.

"He..." Thomas was in disbelief.

Rachel pursed her lips. "He knows everything."

Thomas nodded slightly. It was to be expected. ’How could a man as sharp as my cousin not have figured it out?’

"By the way, Peter Preston said your father was hospitalized. I’m heading to the office now, so I was going to stop by the hospital to see him."

Rachel imdiately grew tense. "My dad’s in the hospital? What happened?"

Thomas said, "Apparently he went fishing yesterday and got hit by a car."

Rachel’s heart tightened, and she imdiately pulled out her phone to call Florence Preston.

"It’s not serious, don’t worry."

She hung up the phone.

Rachel decided to go to the hospital with Thomas. ’If I wait here, there’s no way Sylvia Shannon will let lissa leave with so easily.’

’I really just ca here to be humiliated.’

"I’ll go get lissa, then. You can tell her yourself," Thomas offered.

"Okay."

Thomas went back into the ancestral ho.

Rachel waited where she was.

「Ten minutes later.」

Thomas ca out with lissa, the butler following behind them.

Rachel walked forward.

lissa ran up to Rachel and asked, "Aunt Evelynn, are you leaving?"

Rachel crouched down. "Yes. My father is sick and in the hospital. I have to go see him."

lissa said, "Oh, okay. Great-grandma and Great-grandpa aren’t feeling well, and they want to stay here and keep them company."

lissa’s voice was tinged with disappointnt, but since her great-grandparents wanted her to stay, she didn’t want to make them sad.

Rachel could see her daughter’s predicant. ’She’s such a sensible and devoted child.’

"It’s okay. You’ll have other chances to co to my house. I’ll get everything ready at ho and wait for you."

Hearing this, lissa’s little face brightened up again. "Okay."

Rachel said goodbye to lissa.

lissa waved to Rachel.

She got in the car.

Thomas drove away.

Watching her daughter’s figure grow smaller in the distance, Rachel finally looked away. The tip of her nose tingled, and she couldn’t stop her eyes from turning red.

Thomas glanced at her from the side but said nothing.

Once the car was clear of the Sterling estate, Rachel’s emotions gradually cald down.

Only then did Thomas ask, "You still don’t plan on letting lissa know you’re her mother?"

Rachel let out a long breath and stared straight ahead. "There’s no way for her to know. I don’t know how to tell her right now."

She could sense that lissa wanted her and Tristan Sterling to be together.

Just last night, she had wanted the three of them—her, Tristan, and lissa—to sleep together.

’If lissa knew I was her mother, she would be so happy. I want to hear her call ’Mom,’ too. I want to see her smile.’

’But if that happens, I’m afraid I won’t know how to divorce Tristan anymore.’

Thomas seed to understand her concerns.

"He’s unwilling to divorce right now, so it’s probably going to be difficult for Lawyer Walsh. I suggest you find a more powerful legal team to take over. I can help you find soone."

Rachel humd in agreent. "My professor contacted yesterday. He said he knows a lawyer who specializes in divorce cases. I’m planning to make ti to et with them."

Hearing this, Thomas didn’t say anything more.

When they arrived at the hospital, Rachel and Thomas got out of the car and headed toward the inpatient wing.

Just as they reached the entrance,

they happened to run into so people walking toward them.

Who else could it be but Tristan Sterling and Claire Ainsworth.

Tristan had his arm around the woman’s shoulder and was carrying a bag of dicine in his other hand. Claire’s complexion was poor; she looked ill.

Tristan saw the two of them entering.

Rachel shot them a single cold glance before apathetically looking away and striding directly toward the elevators.

Thomas glanced at Tristan, but in the end, he didn’t go over to greet him, either. He just followed Rachel and left.

Tristan helped Claire Ainsworth into the car.

Claire leaned back against the car seat. Just as she was about to ask sothing, Tristan said, "I need to make a call first."

So, Claire didn’t disturb him.

Tristan called his driver.

The driver explained the reason for their visit.

"Got it."

Tristan lowered his phone.

Claire couldn’t help but ask, "Tristan, who exactly is that Evelynn?"

Tristan turned his head to look at her. "Why do you ask?"

Claire said, "Julian Jennings is protective of her, and Thomas’s relationship with her doesn’t seem simple, either."

She rembered five years ago—Tristan’s wife, that ugly, fat woman. Thomas had been quite considerate of her, too.

And most importantly, lissa likes her so much.

Although it was truly difficult to connect the two of them, all the signs pointed to one possibility: she was very likely that sa ugly, fat woman from five years ago.

Rachel and Thomas arrived at the hospital room.

"Dad, what happened?"

Rachel asked worriedly, looking at Wendy Royce lying in the hospital bed.

Wendy’s leg was in a cast.

Florence Preston sighed helplessly. "Your father went fishing yesterday and got hit by a car on the side of the road. Thankfully, it’s nothing major. The fracture isn’t severe. We’ll see how he plans on going fishing now."

Listening to his wife’s scolding, Wendy quickly said, "It wasn’t my fault! I was watching the road carefully. I just won’t go fishing anymore, that’s all. I’ll stay ho and keep my wife and child company."

Florence snorted. "Who wants you to keep them company?"

Listening to their affectionate bickering, Rachel couldn’t help but smile. Seeing that her father was mostly all right, she finally felt at ease.
