I entered the school weaponry center and walked to the desk.
"Yes, Cadet. How can I help you?"The receptionist asked.
"I need dual blades. Better if it's of a similar size," I spoke giving rough data.
"No problem,"
"Yes, Cadet. How can I help you?" the receptionist asked.
"I need dual blades, preferably of the sa size," I said, giving him a rough estimate of what I wanted.
"Your Academy card please!"
I nodded and placed it on the table.
"Got it," he replied, disappearing into the back.
anwhile, I observed the place.
For initial progress, it's better to take it from here. Another reason is that in sparring and fights you can only use registered weapons.
Lukas had a bow and dagger as his registered weapons but my interest leaned more towards blades.
A dagger is good for assassination and catching them by surprise but for who doesn't have that many skills, I think it is easier to deflect things with longer blades than a dagger.
Of course, it's my personal choice.
After a few minutes, he returned with a selection of blades. One caught my eye aS a pair of sleek, slightly curved dual blades, each about 70 cm long and weighing 1.5 kg. I picked one up and felt its balance. It was decent—light enough for swift movents, yet solid. The razor-sharp edge was promising, but I knew it wasn't the best. Academy-issued weapons rarely were.
I thought briefly about the legendary weapons rumored to be in the vault, but stealing one was impossible—not with my current strength.
"This one works," I said, setting the blade down. "How many rit points?"
The man glanced at the blade. "800 points."
800 points. That was 8,000 Crypts in monetary terms. I checked my points and grimaced seeing beeping 30. We were given 10 points to start with and earned one per class attended. The labyrinth opening soon would help, allowing us to hunt beasts for rit points and rewards.
Luckily, I had sothing to barter. After the disaster at Nightcreak, I'd salvaged a few beast corpses.
I pulled out a ring and placed it on the counter. "Evaluate this."
The man nodded and took the ring to the back. A few monts later, he returned. "This is worth 1,900 rit points. I'll deduct 800 for the blades and transfer the remaining 1,100 to your account. Sounds good?"
"Thanks," I said, nodding. With the transaction done, I left the center with my new blades.
Stepping out, I felt my phone vibrate.
[Reed:Yo bro, where are you? Let's go watch so action-packed movies.]
[Which movie?]I type curiously.
[Reed: Isekaid and beca King in a fantasy world. It's a great ani, so co on, my dear discipline. I have chips and cokes out here.]
I almost stumbled upon seeing the ssage.
"The World is on the path to fuck up and you want to watch a movie."
[No!]
Replying, I muted the phone and moved to my destination hoping the plan went well otherwise I might have to take so great deal of beating.
...
The line of students stretched endlessly with heads bowed in tense silence. The place felt suffocating.
The weight of fear hung heavy in the air, thick and oppressive. Most of us here were either commoners or fallen nobles, ranking below 15,000.We were weak, powerless, and without connections.
Among, them,I stood in line with the rest, keeping my head down, my ears catching every whisper and shuffle, though no one dared to speak loudly.
The murmurs stopped when Henson Smith swaggered in, his heavy steps echoing like thunder. His hulking fra filled the space, followed by his two lackeys, Monty and Rick, trailing close behind.
Henson was infamous as a vassal of the Bricks family who bullied his way to power. At first, it was money that he demanded but since the academy had begun now it was a rit point. He rarely lifted a finger, preferring to let his minions do the dirty work while he basked in authority. Anyone who resisted faced a fate worse than punishnt—their families were targeted and ruined.
I clenched my fists, smirking bitterly as my mind drifted to the ga's events. His downfall had been a soothing experience for
As for the result.
I stripped him and hung him naked outside his dorm? Even now, the mory was satisfying. In fact, if things went in that direction, I was going to do the sa when I gained the power.
Henson's laugh shattered my thoughts. It was disgusting and ugly. His double chin wobbled as he spoke, his voice dripping with mockery. "Hehehe! Been eating well, have you?"
"They've certainly been fattened up for us to slaughter," Monty sneered, scanning the crowd like a vulture. Rick snickered beside him, his gaze filled with disdain.
"You should feel honored to serve the great Henson," Henson declared, his arms spread wide like a king addressing his subjects. "You know why you're here, don't you?"
A shiver rippled through the line. Students hunched further, shoulders stiff with fear. No one dared to et his gaze. The oppressive silence deepened, broken only by the faint sound of ragged breathing.
"Tsk, cowards," Henson spat, his voice laced with disgust. He wanted soone to rebel so that he would have a chance to exert his cruelty but he restrained himself, biding his ti.
Finally, he barked his orders. "Surrender all your rit points. If you don't have enough, pay with money!"
Monty and Rick sprang into action, moving down the line. The tension grew unbearable as they stopped in front of each student. Most handed over their points quickly and faces pale with fear. A few hesitated, their trembling hands betraying their inner conflict. Those who resisted were t with fists and kicks. Cries of pain filled the air, but no one moved to help.
One boy, braver or more foolish than the rest, raised his voice. "Why should I listen to you? Who do you think you—"
Henson moved faster than expected with his bulk body surprisingly agile. His kick landed square in the boy's torso, sending him sprawling. In a flash, he was over him, grabbing the boy's face with a vice-like grip.
"Listen, boy," Henson growled, his voice low and nacing. "If you don't want your family to cry, seeing your coffin or you don't want to cry seeing there then comply or else..."
Threatening him, Henson threw the boy down and kicked him.
The boy whimpered having his defiance crushed. He handed over his points, shaking as he did. The rest of us stood frozen, the atmosphere thick with dread. No one dared to move or speak, the weight of helplessness pressing down on us all.
Rick approached , his usual sneer plastered on his face. "rit points. Hand them over," he demanded, but then his eyes widened as if he rembered sothing.
"Wait! Aren't you the one who fell down the roof?" he suddenly yelled, drawing the attention of everyone nearby.
His outburst made heads turn, and before I could respond, Henson shoved Rick aside, and appeared to with his towering figure blocking my view. His small, squinted eyes studied before he smirked.
"Damn! You survived the fall. I thought you'd be dead," Henson said, patting my shoulder with mock affection. "You've got great luck. That fall must've toughened you up."
Then his tone darkened. "But let's finish so business. Clean my shoes."
I paused, lifting my gaze to et his. My voice was cold as ice. "I'm not your slave."
The air grew thick with tension. A stunned silence fell over the crowd. Henson's expression froze for a mont before twisting into a mocking grin.
"Hahaha! Did I hear that right? A low-rank nothing talking back to ?" He laughed so hard his body jiggled, then stopped abruptly, glaring at . "Say that again."
I glanced at the watch ticking 3:15 PM.
'It's ti.'I muttered inwardly.
His glare bore into , and the weight of his authority pressed down like a hamr. I clenched my fists but said nothing, my lips pressed shut.
Henson's patience snapped. With a growl, he swung his arm for a jab. I stepped back just in ti and his fist narrowly missed my face.
"Rick, Monty, grab him!"
The two rushed at and extended their hands to clamp down on my arms and legs like iron. I didn't resist, letting them pin in place.
Henson stepped forward and swung his fist slamming into my gut with brute force. Pain exploded through torso, but I bit down hard, refusing to cry out. Another punch followed, then another, each blow tearing through my body. My knees buckled as I coughed, struggling to breathe.
He lood over , his face twisted in rage. "What did you say?" he barked, his voice echoing in my ringing ears.
"What happened now, can't speak?"Henson smirked and grabbed my hair as I raised my chin and as I looked at his face, I smiled.
"Everyone out here is better than you, a piece of shit who can't help but bully weaklings to satisfy your ego," saying this I spat on him.
"Go and fuck yourself."
Henson froze for the amount. This was the craziest amount of disrespect he had ever suffered.
His entire face beca red in anger.
"I...I...Am gonna kill you, "Henson roared and raised his fist coated in mana and was about to hit .
BANGG!
The door was opened forcefully, and a bluish-haired boy with a chilling expression stepped out.
"Say, whom you are gonna kill."
