Chapter 54: Chapter 54 Prey
Finally, yielding to Su Yunjin’s insistence, Gu Yan ate one of the eggs.
After finishing the egg, Su Yunjin clapped her hands, looked at Gu Yan, and said, “I’m done, let’s go. We can go to the market now.”
Still not knowing what the market in this place looked like, Su Yunjin was eager to visit it with Gu Yan, but Gu Yan replied, “No hurry, wait a mont!”
“What’s wrong? Do you have sothing else to do?” Su Yunjin asked.
As Gu Yan walked towards the woodshed, he said to Su Yunjin, “Follow , I want to show you sothing.”
Show her what?
...
Did it have to be seen right now?
Full of suspicion, Su Yunjin followed behind Gu Yan.
Gu Yan led the way, and Su Yunjin followed. When Su Yunjin arrived at the woodshed, she found Gu Yan bending down and crawling into a pile of firewood as if searching for sothing.
Driven by curiosity, Su Yunjin also walked over, stopped next to Gu Yan, and tilted her head to look inside. Just then, Gu Yan suddenly erged from between the bundles of wood.
And in his hand, he was holding an adult roe deer!
The roe was obviously killed by an arrow, as there was still an arrow stuck in its abdon. Su Yunjin looked at Gu Yan in surprise and asked, “Husband, where did this roe co from?”
“I hunted it!” Gu Yan did not hide the fact from Su Yunjin, as he planned to sell these ga animals at the market with his wife, so there was no hiding it.
Gu Yan candidly disclosed this to Su Yunjin.
Instinctively, Su Yunjin’s gaze shifted to Gu Yan’s la leg, and she asked with disbelief, “Did you really hunt this roe deer?”
Ever since Gu Yan’s leg had beco la, he had not gone hunting in the mountains again. Now that Gu Yan suddenly produced a roe deer killed by an arrow, claiming it was his catch, no wonder Su Yunjin was doubtful.
Gu Yan did not offer any further explanations to his wife and continued to crawl behind the bundles of firewood. In a short while, he ca back holding two wild rabbits and three pheasants.
There were also more than a dozen wild duck eggs.
Su Yunjin looked with disbelief at the items Gu Yan had brought out. She no longer doubted what Gu Yan had just said and instead, looking at Gu Yan, she tentatively asked, “Did you go hunting in the mountains yesterday?”
There was certainty in Su Yunjin’s tone!
If the items that Gu Yan produced were not hunted by himself, Su Yunjin couldn’t think of anyone else generous enough to give Gu Yan so many things.
Last night, all the mbers of the Gu Family had co back for dinner, but Gu Yan had not returned for a long ti. Su Yunjin had been curious where Gu Yan had gone, and now it seed that Gu Yan had gone to the mountains behind her and the Gu Family’s back, and the ga he was now presenting was what he had hunted yesterday.
“Yes!” Gu Yan nodded to his wife, admitting that he had indeed gone hunting in the mountains yesterday. Yesterday morning, he had caught nothing and the few animals he had seen had escaped. However, in the afternoon, with the experience from the morning and good archery skills, Gu Yan was not only lucky enough to hunt down a roe deer but also managed to catch a few wild rabbits and pheasants.
Gu Yan’s yield from yesterday’s hunt in the mountains had been quite good, even he hadn’t expected to catch so much after having not hunted for such a long ti.
Last ti, all the money Gu Yan had given to his wife to find a doctor and buy dicine at the market was still owed, but now, the ga Gu Yan hunted could be sold for at least two or three taels of silver at the market.
Besides repaying the money owed for his wife’s dical treatnt and the dicine, they could save a little more than half a tael.
