Chapter 324: Chapter 324 Apricot Blooms Over the Wall Chapter 324: Chapter 324 Apricot Blooms Over the Wall Gu Hengniang, the second sister, had decided to stay at the Gu Family ho for a few more days this ti, especially since the busy farming season had just ended and her own household didn’t need her.
This ti, Gu Hengniang had made a point of bringing her two children with her.
Yingying and Rourou were Gu Hengniang’s daughters, both around ten years old and close in age to Aluo and the others. At the Gu Family ho, the children could play together.
Mrs. Zhang knew that Gu Hengniang would be staying for several days at the Gu Family ho, so she wasn’t in a hurry. She planned to slowly influence Gu Hengniang.
Mrs. Zhang didn’t believe she couldn’t persuade Gu Hengniang over ti!
She had plenty of patience, after all!
She would surely be able to convince Gu Hengniang to bring her younger sister-in-law to the Gu Family and split Su Yunjin and her husband apart!
Since the family had been divided, Gu Hengniang’s arrival ant that Su Yunjin and the others didn’t need to attend to her; Gu Hengniang ate with Mrs. An and Lord Gu Chengxiang in their quarters.
Su Yunjin and Gu Ya were still eating alone.
After dinner, Su Yunjin had prepared dicine for Gu Ya in the kitchen’s dicinal stove, while Gu Ya sat in the room, counting under the oil lamp. Once Su Yunjin finished tidying up the dishes, she intended to bring Gu Ya his dicine.
Walking into the courtyard,
Su Yunjin saw Mrs. Han cheerfully returning from outside with her hands full of items wrapped in oiled paper—large and small bundles, four or five in total!
As she carried her belongings, Mrs. Han occasionally fiddled with the hairpin in her hair. From a distance, Su Yunjin could tell that the hairpin in Mrs. Zhang’s hair was newly purchased.
It sparkled silver!
Shining brightly!
It was a silver hairpin!
Rembering how Mrs. Han had been at the market with another man today, Su Yunjin stared at the items in Mrs. Han’s hands, secretly pondering if those things and the hairpin had been bought for her by the man she had seen in the market today?
Feeling good, Mrs. Han didn’t mind being watched by Su Yunjin; smiling with the items in her embrace, she happily returned to her own room.
Mrs. Han left!
Su Yunjin withdrew her gaze, carried the dicine she had for Gu Ya, and continued on her way. As usual, after giving Gu Ya the herbal soup, she stood aside and waited for him to finish, ready to take the empty bowl away.
Su Yunjin’s mind was still occupied with Mrs. Han’s affairs.
After Gu Ya had finished taking his dicine, he noticed his little wife spacing out, seemingly deep in thought and not even realizing he had finished when he looked at her.
“Yunjin!” Gu Ya tentatively called out to his little wife.
Su Yunjin ca back to her senses and, seeing the dicine in Gu Ya’s hand was finished, reached out to take the bowl, “You’ve taken your dicine, my husband, so hand the bowl, please!”
Gu Ya handed the bowl over to his little wife.
Curious about what his little wife had been pondering,
he casually asked, “Yunjin, what were you just thinking about? You seed so preoccupied.”
“I was thinking…” Su Yunjin had been considering Mrs. Han’s situation, but should she tell Gu Ya about it? As this crossed her mind, she swallowed the rest of her words.
She didn’t continue.
Gu Ya was still waiting for his little wife’s answer. She paused, and he raised an eyebrow, prompting further, “Yunjin, why did you stop?”
Su Yunjin, holding the dicine bowl, took a seat at the table. She had no interest in inquiring about Mrs. Han’s affairs; Mrs. Han, much like her elder sister-in-law Mrs. Zhang, was no good.
Neither were nice pieces of work!
Thus, regarding what she had seen earlier that day, Su Yunjin decided it was best not to tell Gu Ya.
With that thought, she looked up and smiled at Gu Ya, “My husband, I wasn’t really thinking about anything. I was just reflecting on my visit to my parents’ ho today!”
