Mrs. Lu turned to look at Mrs. He, and chuckled, "Sister He, since you like picking vegetables to eat yourself so much, why not have your husband buy so land, plant more vegetables and fruits, so you can pick them whenever you want? What do you think?"
"Sister Lu, you just love to tease , I’m not going to pay attention to you." Mrs. He turned her head to look at Huan Ge’er. She saw Huan Ge’er standing there alone, not speaking, and not eating anything.
So, Mrs. He handed over a clean tomato in her hand to him, "Huan Ge’er, would you like a tomato?"
"Thank you, Aunt He, I don’t want any." Huan Ge’er politely declined. Huan Ge’er was a child Mrs. He watched grow up and she was especially aware of his temperant. Knowing that there are few things Huan Ge’er likes to eat, Mrs. He did not force him to eat the tomato.
Though Huan Ge’er has always been quiet, Su Yunjin wondered what was going on. She felt that Huan Ge’er seed even more silent than the last ti she saw him, and today since he arrived at their ho, he seed to have sothing on his mind.
"Sister Lu, what’s wrong with Huan Ge’er? Why does this child seem unhappy to ?"
Unable to resist, Su Yunjin asked. Mrs. Lu listened to Su Yunjin’s words, her expression darkened slightly, but soon she returned to her natural deanor.
"Sister Su, it’s all because of Huan Ge’er’s father. You don’t know, but just a few days ago, Huan Ge’er’s father took another concubine. It’s been less than two years, and Huan Ge’er’s father has already taken three concubines, not to ntion the several unofficial concubines at ho."
Su Yunjin was completely stunned upon hearing this; she couldn’t have imagined that Mrs. Lu’s husband would be such a flirtatious person.
Mrs. Lu seed indifferent and said, "Forget it, Sister He, why talk about this? Since we’re out to have fun today, let’s not bring up these troubleso matters."
"Yes, yes, let’s not talk about it." Mrs. He nodded repeatedly, also unwilling to discuss these distressing topics.
Mrs. Lu not only has good looks but is also well-read, dignified, and virtuous; such a good woman is hard to find with a lantern. Mrs. He really couldn’t understand why Master Lu, already having such a good woman, would still seek out many others.
Although in ancient tis it was common for n to have multiple wives and concubines, every woman hoped her husband would give all his attention to her. In Mrs. He’s case, after marrying, Master He took no more concubines nor has any unofficial concubines; the only one was soone he had before marrying, and once married, with Mrs. He, he never touched that unofficial concubine again.
Master He’s heart is entirely devoted to Mrs. He, treating her well, and this is what makes Mrs. He feel happy and content.
"Sister Lu, about Master Lu...?" Su Yunjin looked at Mrs. Lu. She had always thought Mrs. Lu loved to laugh, was dignified and kind; she believed the feelings between Mrs. Lu and Master Lu were excellent, never imagining Master Lu to be such a lecherous man.
Mrs. Lu looked at Su Yunjin, knowing that Su Yunjin was concerned about her, so she smiled and said to Su Yunjin, "Sister Su, don’t worry, I’m fine."
While speaking, Mrs. Lu turned her gaze to her children in front of her, looking at Huan Ge’er and Yi Jie’er. Mrs. Lu’s eyes softened.
"What matters most to now are them, as long as these two children are okay, I’m content."
