"Third sister-in-law, Aluo is just starting to learn, it’s inevitable she’ll suffer a bit, but once she gets skilled, she won’t get pricked so badly anymore!" Mrs. Chu had gone through the sa thing; initially, her hands were pricked by needles.

After a year or so, she won’t get pricked by needles anymore.

Su Yunjin looked at Aluo, the little girl looked so pitiful, and Su Yunjin couldn’t help but think of modern society, where girls can study and earn money just like boys, and they don’t necessarily need to know needlework.

Clothes and shoes can be bought in stores, no need to make them yourself.

Despite this being ancient tis, Su Yunjin still felt that girls should be able to read and write. After so thought, Su Yunjin suggested to Mrs. Chu, "Sister-in-law, why not hire a female master to teach Aluo to read and write?"

"How can that be? Aluo is just a girl!" Mrs. Chu reflexively opposed, thinking studying is a man’s business, and girls can’t take the imperial exams, so what’s the point? Besides, a girl’s proper role is to manage the household and raise children. Reading and writing is sothing only daughters of wealthy families learn. Aluo is just a country girl, how could she study and write?

Mrs. Chu appeared very alard by Su Yunjin’s proposal, with an incredulous look on her face.

Mrs. Chu was from ancient tis, so her thinking was understandable.

Su Yunjin said, "Sister-in-law, who says girls like Aluo can’t study? n study for the imperial exams, which is important, but studying is also useful for girls. Knowing a few words ans they won’t be completely ignorant in the future. If they can’t read, they might suffer because of it."

Mrs. Chu was a sensible person who could quickly understand things. After hearing Su Yunjin’s words, she imdiately wavered. Indeed, getting Aluo to learn a few words could be useful in the future.

Mrs. Chu and Gu Jianghai ran a Bun Shop, and due to their diligent and hard work, the business was always good. Although they didn’t earn a lot, after working hard for nearly a year, they had saved so family assets.

Besides Aluo, she and Gu Jianghai didn’t have a son, and if they never had one, their family business would surely be passed to their daughter.

If Aluo didn’t know how to read, how could she manage the shop in the future?

After so thought, Mrs. Chu smiled at Su Yunjin, "Third sister-in-law, you’re right. Letting Aluo study and learn to read ans she won’t be completely ignorant in the future. I’ll discuss this with your fifth brother and have him find a female master to teach Aluo to read and write."

Mrs. Chu accepted her suggestion so quickly, which surprised Su Yunjin. Yet, beyond the surprise, Su Yunjin was also quite happy for Aluo, the little girl.

Mrs. Chu agreed to hire a master to teach Aluo reading and writing, so she wouldn’t force Aluo to do needlework for the ti being.

Bao Auntie quickly brought over the ointnt to Su Yunjin.

"Madam, the dicine is here."

Su Yunjin took the ointnt from Bao Auntie and crouched down, intending to apply it on Aluo.

Aluo knew that once the ointnt was applied, her hands wouldn’t hurt anymore.

The well-behaved Aluo willingly extended her little hands full of needle pricks towards Su Yunjin.

Su Yunjin leaned in close, feeling more pity for Aluo.

Taking a bit of the ointnt, Su Yunjin applied it to Aluo’s palms, and Aluo felt a cool, comfortable sensation.

The little girl squinted her eyes and smiled, "Third aunt, it really doesn’t hurt anymore!"
