Throughout the morning, Wen Muyan painted several portraits, each capturing the essence and spirit perfectly. Not only did he depict the cuteness of the two children, but he also vividly brought their innocence and playfulness to life on paper. Su Yunjin and Madam Qin both felt that it was indeed a masterpiece by a world-renowned painter, distinctive right from the first stroke.
Madam Qin was very pleased with the portraits Wen Muyan made of Tangtang, and she repeatedly admired the paintings. Mada Qin couldn’t help but get inspired and wanted Wen Muyan to create a portrait for her as well.
So, after admiring the paintings, Madam Qin smiled and asked Wen Muyan, "Painter Wen, might I trouble you to create one for too?"
Madam Qin knew the temperant of soone like Painter Wen might be different, and when she was unsure if Wen Muyan would agree, Wen Muyan surprisingly looked at Madam Qin and nodded.
When Madam Qin saw Wen Muyan agree, she was imdiately overjoyed. "Painter Wen, then I shall trouble you." After her joy, Madam Qin added, "By the way, I’ve already prepared so simple wine and dishes at ho. Why don’t you stay at our residence for a luncheon today?"
Madam Qin proactively invited.
Wen Muyan did not refuse either.
At noon, the al prepared by Madam Qin was quite sumptuous, featuring famous dishes from Fuman Building, along with so made by the residence’s chef. Su Yunjin had long heard of the Qin Residence’s chef’s cooking being delicious. Tasting it for the first ti today, indeed, the reputation was well deserved—the chef’s cooking was truly tasty.
Su Yunjin thought her own cooking was quite good, and Aunt Liang’s wasn’t bad either. However, after tasting the Qin Residence chef’s dishes, Su Yunjin felt that Aunt Liang’s skills were not just a little lacking. Indeed, it’s only through comparison that differences can be seen.
The delicious al made Su Yunjin savor it with extra relish, while Tangtang and her brother didn’t eat much at the table, and after a while, the two children were led away by the servants.
Su Yunjin inadvertently glanced at Wen Muyan’s eating manner and felt that Wen Muyan’s eating style was as elegant as his person—unhurried and graceful, even bringing out a unique flavor while eating.
Su Yunjin quickly shifted her gaze after just one look, and just then, a servant suddenly brought over a dish.
When Su Yunjin saw the dish, she was stunned—a stove, a copper pot, and so raw fresh at and vegetables placed around it. Wasn’t this the hot pot of modern tis? How could it be in ancient tis too? Su Yunjin was sowhat surprised and puzzled, yet she watched as the servant brought over so atballs.
Madam Qin smiled and introduced, "Mrs. Gu, Mister Wen, this is our Fuman Building’s hot soup pot, with the broth made from an old hen stew; it’s very fresh. You can cook whatever you’d like in it yourself." Madam Qin spoke naturally, but Su Yunjin was still in the mystical disbelief of seeing a hot pot.
"Mrs. Gu, what’s wrong? Don’t you like eating this hot pot?" Madam Qin asked.
Su Yunjin shook her head repeatedly, "No... no, I like it, I just think it’s quite novel. What’s the eating thod?"
In modern tis, Su Yunjin wasn’t very fond of hot pot, but would occasionally indulge. She also enjoyed barbecue. Both hot pot and barbecue, Su Yunjin liked to have in winter when it’s cold, as eating these would gradually warm her up.
In modern tis, this is called hot pot, yet Madam Qin referred to it just now as a hot soup pot. The different naming—could it be that in ancient tis there was also a similar dish like hot pot?
