The soup in the pot had already been simring for half an hour. Slling the aroma wafting from the pot, Su Yunjin took a ladle, planning to first scoop so chicken soup to taste. She took a sip and thought the soup still needed a little more ti, deciding to let it simr a bit longer. The perfect cooking ti was key to making good soup, and without it, the soup wouldn’t taste as good.
Gu Ya returned ho, and Aunt Bao told him his wife was in the kitchen. Instead of going inside, Gu Ya headed straight to the kitchen. Hearing footsteps, Su Yunjin thought it was Aunt Bao or Aunt An coming in and casually said, “Bring a small bowl.”
The chicken soup still needed a bit more cooking ti but was good enough to eat. Su Yunjin tasted the delicious and savory soup and decided to drink a small bowl ahead of ti. Once the soup was fully cooked, she planned to have another bowl and save the rest for Gu Ya. Lately, Gu Ya had been working hard every day, and so chicken soup would be good nourishnt for him.
Gu Ya had already walked up behind his wife. Hearing her ask for a bowl, he went to the side and got a porcelain bowl for her.
“Yunjin, here you go,” Gu Ya suddenly spoke up, handing the bowl to his wife. Realizing it was Gu Ya’s voice, Su Yunjin was startled.
Gu Ya was back? Instinctively turning around, Su Yunjin looked at the man behind her in shock and asked, “Husband, you—?”
“Yunjin, surprised to see ?” Gu Ya asked knowingly with a smile in his eyes. Once Su Yunjin gathered her thoughts, she shook her head. “Not exactly; just surprised you’re back so early today.” Recently, Gu Ya had been coming ho very late, sotis even after Su Yunjin had gone to bed, so his early return today was a first and the reason for Su Yunjin’s surprise.
Gu Ya pulled out a package from his arms, not answering his wife’s question, and handed it to her instead. “Yunjin, guess what this is?”
Receiving the large package from Gu Ya, Su Yunjin felt the outline of boxes. Could it be rouge that Gu Ya bought for her?
The rouge boxes in Su Yunjin’s room looked a lot like the ones in the package Gu Ya just gave her. Curiously, she opened it, only to find not rouge but several boxes of ointnt. She recognized it instantly; the sa ointnt Gu Ya had used on her when she got hurt last ti.
“Husband, did you ask Ning Wang for more?” Su Yunjin looked at the package of ointnt Gu Ya had just given her, counting about a dozen boxes.
She was a little surprised by the large quantity all at once. Gu Ya denied her assumption, “Yunjin, I didn’t ask Ning Wang for it.” Gu Ya had asked the Imperial Physician Yan by Ning Wang’s side, without Ning Wang’s knowledge.
