Capítulo 1690: Chapter 1691 Assassin

Shopkeeper Liu was trembling with fear.

He was terrified of being accused of attempting to harm the Princely Heir’s wife, a cri far from minor. He also had a son, Liu Kui; should such a charge be laid upon him, his son would likely be implicated as well. Shopkeeper Liu feared for his life and was worried about endangering his son.

Su Yunjin looked at Shopkeeper Liu, “Alright, since you claim not to dare, co with to a place now.”

“Alright!” Shopkeeper Liu nodded without hesitation.

In order to convince Su Yunjin that he truly had nothing to do with those three won, Shopkeeper Liu was agreeable to whatever Su Yunjin said, never questioning her orders.

He just wanted to prove his innocence.

Leaving Sheng’an Hall, Su Yunjin directly took Shopkeeper Liu to the Prince Ning Residence. Su Yunjin had visited the residence once before with Gu Ya, and Steward Xiao had seen Su Yunjin at that ti. Upon seeing Su Yunjin again, Steward Xiao recognized her imdiately. Su Yunjin stated her purpose for the visit, but saw Steward Xiao frown.

“What is it? Is the Prince not here?” Su Yunjin asked tentatively, her heart starting to race. Indeed, Su Yunjin’s guess was correct. Prince Ning was indeed not there. Steward Xiao looked troubled and said, “Madam Gu, it’s truly unfortunate timing; the Prince and Young Master Gu just left not long ago, so you probably won’t be able to see them now.”

What?

They left?

Su Yunjin was a bit dazed.

She quickly asked, “Steward Xiao, do you know where they went?”

“Madam Gu, how could a humble steward like know the whereabouts of the Prince? I do not know where the Prince and Young Master Gu have gone.”

Su Yunjin took two steps back, not expecting Gu Ya and Prince Ning to suddenly leave. Now that they were both absent, what should she do next?

Should she continue to wait for them at Prince Ning’s residence, or return first? Su Yunjin was undecided, but Steward Xiao kindly offered, “Madam Gu, is there sothing you need? You can tell , and when the Prince returns, I will pass your ssage along.”

Su Yunjin thanked Steward Xiao for his kindness and decided it would be better to return first, as she didn’t know how long Gu Ya and Prince Ning would be gone. If they did not return soon, it would be inappropriate to wait endlessly. After taking her leave, Su Yunjin led Shopkeeper Liu and the others away from the Prince Ning Residence.

Fearing that Shopkeeper Liu might take the opportunity to escape, Su Yunjin decided to take him back to the Gu Family. After all, the Gu Family had extra rooms where Shopkeeper Liu could stay the night.

For tonight, she would let Shopkeeper Liu stay at her ho, and tomorrow she would have Gu Ya take him to Prince Ning’s residence to testify. As Su Yunjin sat in the carriage, it suddenly shook violently, nearly throwing her out. Luckily, she managed to grab the door in ti and barely steadied herself.

“Brother Xue, what’s happening?” Su Yunjin called out loudly to Xue Chu.

Xue Chu jumped off the carriage, “Madam, it seems there’s sothing wrong with the carriage. Don’t worry, I’ll co and take a look.” Su Yunjin lifted the carriage curtain and saw Xue Chu approaching, so she jumped off the carriage.

Just as Su Yunjin was about to follow him to check what was wrong with the carriage, she suddenly noticed a cold blade thrusting towards her from behind.

Xue Chu imdiately pulled Su Yunjin behind him and used his longsword to block the attacker’s blade, “Madam, be careful.”
