The matter of Leng Jingxian—Prince Chu assud Su Yunjin was still unaware. Leng Jingxian’s escape would inevitably lead to retaliation against Su Yunjin. Over the past few days, Prince Chu’s n have been urgently searching for Leng Jingxian, yet she seed to have vanished into thin air. Despite searching day and night, they had yet to find her.

Leng Jingxian had fled with her two maids, Hongzhu and Luchou. These two had served by her side for many years and were unwaveringly loyal to her. Both were skilled in martial arts and possessed sharp wits. In the past, with these two by her side, finding Leng Jingxian would have indeed been a challenge.

But now, both Hongzhu and Luchou had been stripped of their martial abilities. From Prince Chu’s perspective, finding this group of three should not be difficult. According to his plan, they should be located within a day or two. However, reality defied expectation—since learning of Leng Jingxian’s escape, Prince Chu had received no word of her whereabouts.

Worried that Su Yunjin might lower her guard and beco vulnerable to Leng Jingxian’s attack, Prince Chu thought it best to inform Su Yunjin about the situation, so she could prepare herself accordingly.

This was, after all, the purpose of Prince Chu’s visit to Su Yunjin today.

Prince Chu suggested that Su Yunjin join him outside for a talk, but Su Yunjin declined without a second thought. "Your Highness, I don’t see what we could possibly have to discuss. So, stepping outside to talk? I think that’s unnecessary."

Prince Chu was montarily rendered speechless by Su Yunjin’s bluntness.

Su Yunjin went on, "Your Highness, please. I’ll have Aunt Bao see you out." With that, Su Yunjin openly dismissed him. Prince Chu’s eyes darkened, and for a brief mont, Su Yunjin thought he might lose his temper once more.

To her surprise, Prince Chu seed to relent. He closed his eyes briefly, then reopened them to et Su Yunjin’s gaze and spoke, "Miss Su, regarding Miss Leng, I deeply apologize. I never expected that she would harm you because of my involvent."

"Your Highness, let it go. What’s done is done. I haven’t dwelled on it, and there’s no need for you to bring it up again." Su Yunjin interrupted him before he could finish.

At first, Su Yunjin had blad Prince Chu for what happened with Leng Jingxian. Later, when Prince Chu rescued her with his n, she saw it as compensation. Su Yunjin had always been one to distinguish clearly between gratitude and grievances, so she chose to let the matter rest.

More importantly, Su Yunjin didn’t want to continue entangling with Prince Chu over matters concerning Leng Jingxian. Prince Chu’s eyes dimd slightly before he continued, "I have already punished Leng Jingxian for what she did to you. Initially, I intended to send her back to Jincheng and have the Pri Minister personally discipline her. But I didn’t expect her to escape en route to Jincheng."

Su Yunjin stared at Prince Chu in shock.

"You punished Miss Leng?" Su Yunjin finally understood. Now it made sense why Leng Jingxian had written to her about seeking revenge. So, it was because Prince Chu had punished Leng Jingxian for her sake and had planned to send her away? Unwilling to be exiled by Prince Chu, Leng Jingxian had decided to retaliate against her?

Prince Chu spoke as though it were a trivial matter, his expression utterly detached. "I had Miss Leng spend a night in the water dungeon and crippled the wrists of her two maids while I was at it."

Prince Chu had Leng Jingxian endure a night in the water dungeon?

Su Yunjin had heard so things about the infamous water dungeon. It was said that the dungeon was filled with putrid, filthy water that had been soaked by countless prisoners before. In weather as cold as this, the thought of Leng Jingxian being punished there made Su Yunjin shudder with cold sweat.
