Guo Qiulan’s face flushed slightly.

Without daring to look at Su Muze too much, she offered tea to his parents and then quietly left. Su Ningxiu tugged at Su Yunjin’s sleeve, whispering, "Little sister, did you notice earlier? When big brother was talking to Miss Guo, even his ears turned red with shyness."

"Really?" Su Yunjin hadn’t paid much attention. However, after the earlier exchange, Su Yunjin beca certain of one thing: her big brother Su Muze had feelings for Guo Qiulan.

If he hadn’t felt anything, her big brother wouldn’t have been so flustered.

Su Muze remained seated in the sa place, even after Guo Qiulan left, still visibly tense. His mind kept replaying the image of seeing Guo Qiulan earlier. Although Su Muze had seen a painting of Guo Qiulan before, when he encountered her in person, she surprised him. Guo Qiulan’s appearance was far more beautiful than the portrait—just one glance had stirred Su Muze’s heart.

This feeling was similar to what he’d felt when he first saw Xiao Yu. Yet his feelings when he encountered Xiao Yu were even stronger back then. After eting Guo Qiulan today, Su Muze inexplicably began to look forward to the prospect of marrying her.

Back when Su Muze agreed to marry Guo Qiulan, it was rely out of resignation after losing all hope with Xiao Yu. To Su Muze, it didn’t matter who he married anymore; since Guo Qiulan was favored by his parents and sister, he thought, why not marry her?

After marriage, even if he didn’t like Guo Qiulan, he intended to treat her well. They would live a peaceful life together. Yet, today, his serene and uneventful heart had been stirred by Guo Qiulan’s presence.

Su Muze felt a quiet joy.

Guo Qiulan’s father and mother were chatting warmly with Mrs. Shen and the others. Their conversation was lively and pleasant. When the Guo Family invited the Su Family to stay for lunch, Su Zhongshi and Mrs. Shen didn’t refuse, smiling as they accepted the offer. Su Yunjin continued to sit idly by, feeling bored.

After taking a sip of tea, Su Ningxiu pulled Su Yunjin into conversation. anwhile, Su Muze was occasionally asked questions by Guo Qiulan’s parents. After eting Guo Qiulan, Su Muze now answered their questions with noticeable attentiveness.

At noon, the Guo Family hosted the Su Family with great hospitality, and the dishes on the table were abundant and rich. Guo Qiulan’s mother casually ntioned that a few of the dishes had been made by Guo Qiulan herself, and she smilingly urged Su Muze to eat more.

Su Muze tasted two of the dishes and was pleasantly surprised by Guo Qiulan’s skills in the kitchen. Both dishes were exceptionally delicious, and Su Muze’s satisfaction with Guo Qiulan grew further as a result.

Before eting Xiao Yu, Su Muze had always envisioned marrying a virtuous woman, soone like Guo Qiulan. Today, everything about her aligned with his forr ideal. As he ate, Su Muze couldn’t help but wonder: if he had t Guo Qiulan first, would he have avoided falling for Xiao Yu altogether? Aside from her beauty, Xiao Yu possessed none of the qualities Su Muze truly valued.

Xiao Yu was neither virtuous nor gentle; she treated him coldly and harshly, rarely showing him a kind expression. Yet Su Muze couldn’t comprehend why he had irrevocably fallen for her. He should have liked soone like Guo Qiulan instead.

Thinking of Xiao Yu’s deceit and cruelty—how she had even nearly left him to freeze to death in the snow—the wounds from the past were ripped open anew, raw and painful. Under the dining table, Su Muze clenched his fists and made a resolute decision.

He would marry Guo Qiulan.

He would take Guo Qiulan as his wife.

Guo Qiulan was the kind of woman Su Muze had dread of marrying.

Su Muze believed that as long as he married Guo Qiulan, he would no longer think of Xiao Yu.

Guo Qiulan was the best way for him to forget Xiao Yu.
