Mrs. Zhang wasn’t stupid.

There was no way she would willingly let Gu Ya send her to the Governor’s Office.

Gu Baofu didn’t want to go either. "Third Brother, your sister-in-law is telling the truth. We were just curious about what was being built inside and took a quick look. We’re really not thieves."

Gu Ya looked at the pair indifferently. Although he hadn’t figured out their real intentions yet, the fact that they had sneakily co to inspect the ice cellar he and his young wife were building was clearly not a good sign.

"Eldest Brother, Sister-in-law, regardless of whether you two ca here today to steal or not, I’ll let you go for now. But if I find out later that you had ulterior motives or did anything to sabotage the ice cellar, I won’t let you off lightly!"

Upon hearing that Gu Ya was letting them go, Mrs. Zhang and Gu Baofu imdiately waved their hands vigorously. "No, no, no, Third Brother, we really didn’t do anything! We only took a look in your ice cellar, that’s all."

Without sparing them another glance, Gu Ya instructed He Dali to untie the ropes binding the two and then left. Having been tied up for so long, Mrs. Zhang and Gu Baofu were both stiff from the cold.

As soon as the ropes were undone, they could barely stand and nearly fell flat on their faces. After managing to steady themselves, Mrs. Zhang, fearing that He Dali and his group might make things harder for them again, hurriedly dragged Gu Baofu away.

"Let’s go, let’s go, quickly!" Mrs. Zhang ran as if she were fleeing for her life, no longer caring about her numb limbs. Gu Baofu trailed behind her, cursing under his breath at their misfortune.

Then he turned to bla Mrs. Zhang. "You stupid woman, this is all your fault! If it weren’t for your terrible idea, we wouldn’t have ended up being tied up by Third Brother’s workers and mistaken as thieves." Forget learning any secrets to get rich—they had frozen half to death for hours and almost got sent to the Governor’s Office.

The more Gu Baofu thought about it, the angrier he beca.

Mrs. Zhang was furious too. She had assud that Gu Ya and his wife had co up with another profitable sche, only to find out they were building... an ice cellar?

What nonsense!

Mrs. Zhang spat on the ground.

Why would anyone bother with sothing as commonplace and worthless as ice? And they even went out of their way to build a cellar to store it? Ridiculous.

Yet, beneath her scorn, Mrs. Zhang felt a surge of anger. She had endured all that effort, being frozen stiff and treated like a thief, and in the end, got absolutely nothing for it.

The more Mrs. Zhang thought about it, the angrier she beca.

Gu Baofu, still grumbling beside her, annoyed her further. She kicked him hard. "Shut up! You useless fool! Stop buzzing in my ears!"

Gu Baofu, already stiff from the freezing cold, was knocked off balance by her kick and rolled several tis on the ground before crashing into a tree. Only then did he stop. While Gu Baofu yelped in pain, Mrs. Zhang, without so much as a glance at him, stord off.

By the ti Mrs. Zhang and Gu Baofu returned ho, both of them had fallen ill from the cold and spent more than half a month recovering.

anwhile, Su Yunjin was eating in the house. With Gu Ya handling everything about the ice cellar, she wasn’t worried at all.

When Gu Ya ca back, his young wife was sipping soup. Su Yunjin looked up and smiled. "Husband, how did it go? Did you deal with the thieves at the ice cellar?"

"Yunjin, the matter with the ice cellar has been resolved. Don’t worry." Gu Ya walked over to his young wife. Su Yunjin took another few sips of soup and was about to hand her bowl to Aunt Liang when she noticed sothing on the ground. She wasn’t sure who had left it. "Husband, what’s that?" Su Yunjin stared at the newly discovered object on the ground, and Gu Ya imdiately followed her gaze.
