Chapter 849: Chapter 743, The Bond of Cross-Dressing Together_2 Chapter 849: Chapter 743, The Bond of Cross-Dressing Together_2 Daohua countered, “Do you think you can find it?”

After resting for a while, Huai En had regained so strength. He got up, smiled, and said, “The young master might not know this, but I rember every road I’ve ever traveled. It’s impossible to reach the county town tonight, but staying overnight in a small town is doable.”

Anxious to return to the Capital, Daohua asked, “How do we get there?”

Huai En imdiately replied with a smile, “Young master, after my master takes a short rest, we’ll head straight to the town.”

Daohua glanced at Prince Ping, who was still lying on the ground, gasping for breath, and urged, “Hurry up.”

Prince Ping replied irritably, “What’s the hurry? Haven’t those people failed to catch up?”

Daohua waited a while and, seeing Prince Ping unmoving, couldn’t help but urge again, “Listen, old master, you won’t be safe until we’re out of this. Who knows, that group of villagers might catch up to us soon. I’m out of pills, so if they do, prepare to be caught and thrown into the pond.”

Hearing this, Prince Ping finally extended his hand unwillingly for Huai En to help him up. After standing, he still grumbled, “I have never suffered so much before!”

Daohua ignored him and simply said, “Lead the way!”

Huai En helped Prince Ping and started heading toward the town.

On the way, Daohua asked, “Can we go directly to the county town?”

Grateful for Daohua’s earlier rescue, and though she ca off as quite fierce, Huai En found her to be a decent person who had helped them twice. Without her help, he and his master might indeed have been caught by the aggressive villagers.

Therefore, his attitude was fairly good.

“Young master, my na is Huai En, and you can call Huai En.”

Daohua responded with an ‘oh’: “That so, Huai En, can we go directly to the county town?”

Huai En smiled and said, “Young master, the county town is too far. On foot, it would take several hours. Let’s first get to the town and rent a carriage there to go to the county.”

Daohua frowned, “It’s so late, can we still rent a carriage?”

Huai En shook his head, “I’m not sure about that.”

After walking for about a quarter of an hour, the three of them saw so lights and vague structures of houses.

Huai En smiled, “Here’s the town! There’s only one inn. Young master, will you join us?”

Daohua nodded.

Soon, they arrived at the inn.

Unable to rent a carriage at night, Daohua had no choice but to get a room like Huai En and his master, preparing to rest overnight before setting off in the morning.

When the inn’s servant delivered water, Daohua took the chance to ask about their location and learned that they had left the Capital Boundary, and were only in a county near the Beijing Suburbs. She frowned.

She had been washed quite far away by the current!

After being terrified by the kidnappers and then washed away by the river, Daohua was now physically and ntally exhausted. As soon as she lay down on the bed, her eyelids involuntarily closed.

But being alone, she didn’t dare to fall asleep too deeply, just resting with her eyes closed, conserving energy and relaxing her body.

“Thud thud thud!”

The deep sound of knocking woke Daohua, who instantly sat up, warily looking toward the room door, “Who is it?”

Outside, Huai En whispered, “Young master, it’s . We have to leave quickly. Those villagers from yesterday have found their way to the town.”

After hearing this, Daohua quickly walked to the door, opening it just a crack, and when she saw Huai En dressed as a woman outside, her eyes widened in surprise.

“Young master, please open the door!”

Daohua ca to her senses and opened the door.

Huai En didn’t enter but quickly handed Daohua a bundle, “Young master, in dire tis, we must act accordingly. Inside the bundle is a set of won’s clothes; you should change quickly, too.” He then hurriedly went downstairs, saying, “My master and I will wait just fifteen minutes for you. If you don’t co, we will leave without you.”

After speaking, he hurriedly went down.

Daohua pondered for a mont, then turned around and went back to her room to change clothes. She tied a handkerchief into a face mask and put it on before leaving the room.

As she descended the stairs, she encountered the group of villagers.

They glanced at her, then quickly moved aside.

“Master, it’s been fifteen minutes. Shall we wait any longer?”

“Since the lad saved us twice yesterday, let’s wait a bit longer. It wouldn’t be right to let him get caught and thrown into the pond.”

As soon as the words were spoken, the curtain of the carriage was lifted.

Prince Ping and Huai En, surprised, looked at Daohua in her male disguise.

Daohua looked at Prince Ping and Huai En, who were also in disguise, and her eyelids twitched. It wasn’t that they looked bad, but sothing about it just felt awkward.

After Daohua boarded the carriage, Huai En signaled to the coachman that they could leave, then said with a smile, “Young master, you actually look more like a woman than us in that disguise.”

Daohua glanced at them, noticing their faces remained unfazed, and raised an eyebrow, “Which theatre troupe do you belong to?” Only actors would be so nonchalant about dressing as the opposite sex.

Prince Ping frowned; he enjoyed watching plays and occasionally liked to sing a few lines, but did not appreciate being compared to an actor. Annoyed, he looked at Daohua seated in the carriage still wearing her veil, “Which troupe are you from? You make quite a stunning leading lady.” He paused and then added, “You also have a good voice.”

Daohua casually replied, “I’m from Qing Garden.”

Prince Ping frowned, scrutinizing Daohua, “How co I’ve never seen you before?”

Daohua was slightly startled, “You’re from Qing Garden too?”

Prince Ping humd dismissively, “I’m not, but I’m familiar with all the Qing Garden actors, and I’ve never seen anyone like you.”

Daohua replied, “…I’m new there.”

Prince Ping looked at Daohua but didn’t ask further. If it weren’t for the fact that she had saved him, he couldn’t be bothered to engage with her—and now that she didn’t want to reveal her family na, it saved him a lot of trouble.
