Chapter 602: Chapter 553, Parting_1 Chapter 602: Chapter 553, Parting_1 Yan Wentao rushed over, his head drenched in sweat. After catching his breath, he went to greet his elders, and his gaze finally settled on Madam Zhou.

“Aunt Zhou….”

Madam Zhou, worried that Yan Wentao might say sothing untily, quickly interrupted him, “You are such a simple-hearted child. Even if your older brother is going to Beijing, there’s no need for you to rush over like this. Even if you hadn’t co, your brother wouldn’t have blad you.”

Madam Li watched her nephew’s anxious face and glanced at Daohua, knowing that this girl must have told Wentao about Jingwan’s Beijing marriage proposal.

However, Madam Zhou’s attitude had already made it very clear. If their family continued to linger, it would seem unduly persistent.

Madam Li also feared that Yan Wentao might speak out of turn, potentially embarrassing both families. She promptly said with a smile, “Your older brother has already boarded the ship, you should go and say goodbye to him.”

Yan Wentao looked at Madam Li with pleading eyes, “Great Aunt….”

Seeing such helplessness in a strapping young man, Madam Li felt a pang of sympathy but couldn’t help glancing towards Madam Zhou, only to find her turning her head away as she t Madam Li’s eyes.

Seeing this, Madam Li felt helpless, knowing that a marriage with the Zhou family was out of the question. She steeled herself and said, “Wentao, your brother just ntioned you. Follow your great aunt and go see him.”

She then tried to pull Yan Wentao away, but was unable to move him.

Yan Wentao’s eyes flickered with struggle, his gaze continuously shifting towards the Zhou family’s ship. He had just returned with Yeyang and Wenkai from running errands outside when the Hidden Guard delivered the letter Daohua had sent him.

His heart felt like it was being viciously twisted by a knife at the news that Jingwan was discussing a marriage in Beijing.

He could see his great aunt’s difficulties and sense Madam Zhou’s evasive attitude. Daohua knew his feelings for Jingwan; he understood that if Jingwan were to consider marriage, she would help him.

Clearly, his great aunt must have ntioned it to Madam Zhou, but unfortunately, Madam Zhou did not agree.

He knew he wasn’t good enough for Jingwan, but he couldn’t bear to give up.

Yan Wentao’s distress was noticed by everyone. Yan Zhiyuan and the Wu Family looked anxiously at their son.

Madam Zhou was worried Wentao might act impulsively and forced a smile, “It’s getting late. Since Wentao, you are here to see Wenxiu off, then go now. I must board the ship.”

Just as she turned to leave, she heard Yan Wentao say, “Aunt Zhou, the reason I arrived late is because I had gone out to run errands.”

Madam Zhou took a deep breath and said with a frozen smile, “I know you are capable. Now that your older brother is betrothed, when I return from Beijing, I will also arrange a good marriage for you….”

Yan Wentao interrupted Madam Zhou rather urgently, “Aunt Zhou, I may not be good enough now, but please believe , I will work hard.”

Madam Zhou’s smile could no longer be maintained, “….I believe in you, otherwise, I wouldn’t have thought of introducing another girl to you.” Seeing that Yan Wentao still wanted to say sothing, Madam Zhou quickly raised her hand to stop him.

“Wentao, it’s really getting late. Your older brother still has to go to Beijing for the engagent. Go say your farewells, and I will board the ship now.” Then without hesitation or a glance at the Zhou family, she walked straight to their ship.

Yan Wentao instinctively stepped forward, and as he was about to take a second step, Yan Wenxiu, who had just disembarked from the Yan family’s ship, tily grabbed him.

“Third younger brother, it’s been so days since we last saw each other. Let’s go aside and talk.” He said, pulling Yan Wentao away without further discussion.

Watching this scene, both the Yan and Zhou families seed to understand sothing.

Zhou Chengye rubbed his forehead with a hint of a headache. Wentao fancied his sister? And he hadn’t noticed it at all!

When did it start?

Thinking back carefully, Zhou Chengye suddenly realized that his sister seed to have always been fond of sticking to Wentao, and Wentao, in turn, brought gifts to her every now and then.

Litchis, strawberries – delicacies even their grandfather couldn’t obtain, Wentao managed to bring them to Jingwan.

Each ti his sister called out ‘Yan Third Brother, Yan Third Brother,’ he thought they were just close.

Zhou Chengye couldn’t help but slap his forehead. Wentao had been too subtle, so much so that he never considered the possibility of anything else.

If he had known earlier, it wouldn’t have co to this—everyone knowing about it now.
