Ping Tong chuckled and said, "I am the butler nanny by Old Madam’s side, and she specifically instructed early this morning to co greet Madam Wang."

When Madam Wang heard that the butler nanny of the Yan Family’s Old Madam had co personally to greet her, her face imdiately bead with pride. Noticing the surrounding glances, the smile on her face grew even broader: "The Old Madam is too kind."

Ping Tong exchanged pleasantries as she led Madam Wang and her two companions to the backyard, all the while sizing up Miss Wang and Second Miss Wang.

These two young ladies are nothing special!

Their looks are just about passable, but among today’s gathering of noble young won, there are plenty who are far more beautiful. As for their deanor and conduct, well, that’s another discussion entirely. Could these sorts of girls really catch Little Prince’s eye?

Could it be that the Old Prince made a mistake?

Upon seeing the butler nanny from Old Madam’s household personally receiving the Wang family trio, the people nearby began inquiring about Madam Wang’s origins.

On the way, Ping Tong smiled and asked, "Madam Wang, which one is Miss Ye?"

Madam Wang’s smile froze for a mont but quickly resud its composure. "Nanny must be referring to Yueying. That child stayed ho to care for her maternal grandmother."

At these words, Ping Tong suddenly paused mid-step, her face full of astonishnt as she looked at Madam Wang: "Miss Ye didn’t co?!"

Due to her shock, her voice was louder than usual, imdiately drawing the attention of those around them.

Madam Wang hadn’t anticipated such an extre reaction from Ping Tong and began feeling a faint unease.

Ping Tong motioned toward Miss Wang and Second Miss Wang. "And they are?"

Madam Wang chuckled awkwardly and said, "These are my two incompetent daughters."

Upon hearing this, Ping Tong was left speechless. Their family had gone out of their way to organize this plum blossom banquet for what purpose? Wasn’t it all to et Little Prince’s favored Miss Ye? Who would’ve thought the star of the occasion didn’t even show up!

Seeing the enthusiasm drain completely from Ping Tong’s face, Madam Wang had no choice but to awkwardly speak up: "Nanny, what seems to be the matter?"

Ping Tong glanced coolly at Madam Wang. A young lady like Ye Yueying, rely living under another’s roof, failed to appear, yet here ca her two daughters all dressed to the nines. With her years of experience managing inner courtyards, how could she fail to spot that sothing was amiss?

"Madam Wang, to be honest, our Old Madam and Elder Old Madam were keen to et Miss Ye. But unexpectedly, she didn’t co. In that case, I must hurry back to inform them. You may join the others in the courtyard to enjoy the plum blossoms."

With that, she turned and briskly walked away.

This abrupt shift in attitude left Madam Wang and her two daughters utterly blindsided.

As they noticed the gossiping and side-eyed glances around them, the faces of all three—mother and daughters—grew exceedingly awkward.

And even that wasn’t the worst of it. Since the details of the affair weren’t known, people were rely whispering amongst themselves. But as soon as Prince Ping arrived, the Wang won faced truly mortifying humiliation.

Prince Ping, now in his sixties, didn’t have to be particularly mindful of avoiding interaction with the wonfolk.

When he arrived, the surrounding ladies rose to their feet to pay their respects.

Prince Ping gestured for the crowd to remain seated and then proceeded to cast repeated stern glances at the reluctantly dragged Yan Wentao.

Yan Wentao had no choice but to clear his throat twice and ask aloud, "Who among you is Madam Wang, recently arrived in the capital?"

Madam Wang’s heart tightened as she cautiously stepped forward. "That would be ."

Prince Ping’s eyes imdiately lit up as he swiftly looked behind Madam Wang at her two daughters. After just one glance, disappointnt visibly appeared on his face.

Who was he? As a prince, he had encountered countless individuals. Gazing at Miss Wang and Second Miss Wang’s flustered, evasive expressions, he could instantly tell that these two were not pure-hearted individuals.

Had his grandson lost his mind? Could he actually be interested in won like them?

Yan Wentao continued, "During the Northern Frontier battle years ago, I fought side by side with General Ye. When he passed away, I was deeply grieved. I wonder, who here might be Miss Ye?"

Once more, hearing Miss Ye Yueying’s na ntioned, Madam Wang felt dread creep in. So many people were watching, leaving her no choice but to repeat her earlier explanation: "Yueying stayed ho to care for her maternal grandmother."

"Neither of these ladies is Miss Ye, then?"

Prince Ping suddenly raised his voice in inquiry.

Madam Wang was startled and hurriedly replied, "They’re rely my two incompetent daughters."

Usually, people ingratiated themselves with Prince Ping. Except when dealing with the Emperor, Crown Prince, or Great Grandson, Prince Ping seldom tempered his temper. Without sparing anyone’s feelings, he declared:

"Where is Miss Ye? The invitation sent to your family was specifically intended for her to attend the plum blossom banquet. Now your entire family shows up, leaving her behind—what’s the aning of this?"
