Chapter 1298: Chapter 1099: The Suppleness Around the Fingers of Little Prince Xiao (Part 11)
In the dark mountain cave, rubble was scattered everywhere. Ye Yueying held a torch, moving through the cave with difficulty.
After walking for a short while, Ye Yueying slled a strong scent of blood and heard pained moans.
“Who’s there?!”
“A guard?”
“The master is over here. Why aren’t you coming to help?”
Hearing the shouting, Ye Yueying imdiately realized that Ren Feng was just ahead. However, due to the weak light from the torch, she couldn’t clearly see the situation.
Ye Yueying tightened her grip on the sword in her hand and carefully moved closer.
Judging by the sounds, it seed that both Ren Feng and his n were injured, and soone appeared to be trapped under a pile of rocks.
Ren Feng…
Ye Yueying slowly approached.
“Why are you dawdling? Hurry up!”
Soone urged in pain.
Soon, a middle-aged man, pinned under a massive boulder with half his body trapped, ca into Ye Yueying’s view.
“Hurry up and help lift the rock off .”
Seeing that he couldn’t move, Ye Yueying ignored him, glanced around, and asked, “Where’s the master? I’ll save the master first.”
The middle-aged man didn’t think much and pointed in a direction.
Ye Yueying looked in the pointed direction and indeed saw two faint figures leaning against the stone wall several ters away, panting heavily.
Recalling that Ren Feng had been injured earlier and was likely in worse condition now, Ye Yueying didn’t hesitate. She gripped her sword and charged directly at the two figures with lethal intent.
Among the two figures, one was indeed Ren Feng. As Ye Yueying attacked, Ren Feng seed to have anticipated it. He grabbed the person next to him as a shield to block the sword, then hobbled quickly deeper into the cave.
By the ti Ye Yueying dealt with the one blocking her blade, Ren Feng had already vanished.
Ye Yueying imdiately held her sword and gave chase. As she entered a slightly more spacious cavern, Ren Feng, hiding behind a rock, suddenly launched a surprise attack on her.
“Who are you?! Why are you trying to kill ?”
Ye Yueying said nothing, simply focusing on slaughtering Ren Feng.
In the small cavern, the two exchanged blows back and forth. After Ye Yueying’s torch fell to the ground and extinguished, they were left relying solely on their hearing to discern each other’s positions.
“Ssshh~”
“Bang!”
After an unknown number of rounds, Ye Yueying finally managed to stab Ren Feng with her sword. At the sa ti, however, Ren Feng struck her with a palm, sending her flying to the ground, where she passed out cold.
…
“Quickly, check around to see if anyone’s still alive!”
In a blurred and dazed state, Ye Yueying vaguely saw countless moving torches. Amid the haze, soone rushed to her side.
“Thank goodness, she’s still breathing!”
That was Ye Yueying’s last fragnt of mory before falling into an endless black void.
When Ye Yueying woke up once more inside a tent, three days had already passed.
Looking at the clean and orderly tent and hearing the faint voices outside, Ye Yueying sat in a daze for a long mont before confirming that she was still alive.
“I was saved?”
Her expression quickly shifted. If she was alive, what about Ren Feng? And what about Uncle Leng? What beca of him?
Ye Yueying anxiously tried to get up, but her weakened body wobbled as soon as she stood.
At that mont, Xiao Moxi entered the tent. Seeing Ye Yueying awake, he broke into a delighted smile and hurriedly stepped forward to support her as she sat back down. “The doctor said you have a head injury. You need to rest and recover properly.”
Ye Yueying grabbed Xiao Moxi’s arm and urgently asked, “Was it you who cleared the cave to save ? What about Uncle Leng? And Ren Feng? What happened to them?”
Xiao Moxi reassured her, “Don’t worry. Senior Leng is fine. He’s recovering in the tent next door.”
Hearing this, Ye Yueying let out a long breath of relief. After calming her emotions, she looked at Xiao Moxi. “Thank you.”
Xiao Moxi smiled faintly, then turned to pour her a cup of hot water and handed it to her. “Ren Feng is still alive as well.”
Ye Yueying, mid-sip, sharply turned her gaze to Xiao Moxi.
eting her eyes, Xiao Moxi explained, “His illegal silver mining activities are fully confird. The allegations of selling off grain seeds are still under investigation. He’s currently being held by the Jinling Guard.”
“Brother Ye, Ren Feng is an Imperial Envoy. I must take him back to Beijing to be dealt with by the Great Grandson. I hope you understand this. But rest assured, with the cris he’s committed, his family will surely face confiscation, and he himself will lose his head.”
Ye Yueying was sowhat disappointed that she hadn’t been able to kill Ren Feng herself. “I understand. By the way, where are we?”
Xiao Moxi replied, “We’re still in the canyon. Ren Feng’s entanglents are extensive. To prevent unrest in Liaodong, the military has surrounded the area. We will leave once Ren Feng’s replacent arrives.”
Ye Yueying looked surprised. “The military? You can mobilize the military?”
Xiao Moxi chuckled. “My father and two uncles were involved in that war against the Tartars over twenty years ago. They’ve always had good relations with the Liaodong military. I just pulled so strings.”
Ye Yueying regarded him with curiosity. “That’s quite a strong backing you’ve got. The Liaodong military commanders are known to be tough nuts to crack, and you…” She initially wanted to ask about Xiao Moxi’s background but stopped herself.
The doctor entered to give Ye Yueying her dicine. Xiao Moxi waited for her to finish taking it and ensured she was fine before leaving the tent to attend to other matters.
As soon as he was gone, Ye Yueying impatiently went to see Leng Feng.
Leng Feng was severely injured and remained bedridden, but he had regained consciousness a day before Ye Yueying.
“Uncle Leng, you scared to death!”
Seeing Leng Feng alive and well, Ye Yueying finally felt her heart settle.
Leng Feng looked at Ye Yueying with relief. He had thought death was inevitable this ti, yet the Jinling Guard had saved them. “What exactly happened?”
Ye Yueying told Leng Feng about her collaboration with Xiao Moxi and what transpired during the explosion that day.
When Leng Feng heard that Ye Yueying had intended to perish alongside Ren Feng, he beca both angry and anxious. “What am I supposed to say to you? The Ye Family has only this one last shred of bloodline left in you, and you treat yourself so carelessly?”
Ye Yueying lowered her head. “With everyone gone, staying alive didn’t seem to matter much.”
“You…”
Leng Feng had intended to reprimand her, but upon seeing her pale, fragile face, he swallowed his words. He could only let out a heavy sigh. “At least we survived.”
Ye Yueying nodded. “Ren Feng is still alive, but with what he’s done, the Ren Family will inevitably face confiscation and execution. Though I couldn’t personally end him, the downfall of his family sowhat avenges the Ye Family.”
Leng Feng shared her sense of regret but was pragmatic. So long as the Ren Family was destroyed, Ren Feng’s thod of death mattered little. “By the way, does the Jinling Guard know your true identity?”
Ye Yueying hesitated briefly. “I’m not sure if Xiao Moxi has investigated us, but even if he knows, I doubt he would disclose it lightly.”
Leng Feng humd in acknowledgnt. “Once Ren Feng is sentenced, I’ll take you back to the Weng Family. After that, we’ll all go our separate ways and never et again. With ti, everything will fade from mory.”
Hearing this, Ye Yueying’s gaze wavered slightly, and a distinct emotion began to stir in her eyes.
