At Averion Castle
King Solomon waited for Alaric and Eve in the Command Hall.
"Your Majesty, Princess Eve, and General Alaric have arrived," Zaldy announced to the king.
"Let General Alaric in. Tell Eve to wait. Accompany her in the garden while waiting for to summon her," King Solomon instructed Zaldy.
Zaldy followed his command. He told Alaric to enter the hall. When the young general went to see King Solomon, Eve was left outside.
Zaldy glanced at Eve for a mont. He couldn’t help but be reminded of Esralda. She really resembled her mother.
"Princess Eve, let’s proceed to the garden while waiting for them. King Solomon will et you there in a while." Zaldy approached Eve, greeting her courtly.
Eve nodded with a smile. The old servant had been serving her father for three decades now.
The two of them headed to the garden area near the command hall. Eve strolled around the garden, admiring the flowers and the beautiful view.
Zaldy could only watch Eve silently.
"Zaldy, you’ve been serving the king for so long. Can I ask you sothing about my father and my mother?" Eve spoke up, breaking the silence.
The old servant was taken aback for a mont.
’This is the first ti I’m talking to Princess Eve. She had been isolated by the queen for so long. Queen Amara forbade her from visiting King Solomon and getting near his quarters. What does she want to know?’
"Yes, your Highness. You can ask anything," he replied.
But deep inside, he knew that there were things he couldn’t tell the princess. It was a secret he needed to hide even in his death.
"How did my mother et the king? Is it really true that my mother seduced him?" Princess Eve asked Zaldy with utmost curiosity.
She wanted to clear her mother’s na. She believed that her mother would never do such a thing.
Her mother was so kindhearted. She taught her everything she knew. However, during her childhood, her mother never ntioned King Solomon. She never told her anything about their love story.
The royal family branded her mother as a shaless mistress– a re slave who seduced the king. People who knew about the royal scandal hated her and her mother. They were constantly bullied and humiliated. King Solomon did nothing to protect them.
anwhile, Zaldy was caught by surprise by Eve’s direct question. He didn’t know what to say. He was forbidden to disclose anything about the past.
"Forgive , Princess Eve... but I can’t answer you. It is best if you ask the king himself. He should be the proper person to answer that."
Zaldy lowered his gaze, feeling sorry for the princess. He knew how much Eve suffered at the hands of Queen Amara and her royal siblings. And King Solomon never intervened.
"I understand. I hope my father will be honest with . I want to know how his relationship with my mother started. I don’t believe that my mother is a bad person." Eve didn’t hesitate to express her thoughts.
"You are right, Princess. Your mother is not a bad person. I assure you that," Zaldy said, comforting the princess.
He had known Esralda so he was aware that she was an amazing woman. Esralda didn’t seduce the king. However, Zaldy couldn’t disclose the truth to Eve.
Queen Amara used her power and influence to conceal King Solomon’s royal scandal. To silence them forever, many servants were killed.
Zaldy and King Solomon were the only people left who knew the truth.
’Sigh. I wonder if my father knows the truth about my mother’s real identity. Does he know that she’s a princess that’s why he had an affair with her?’ Eve started to speculate in her mind.
anwhile, inside the command hall, Alaric and King Solomon started to discuss the mission regarding the Assassination of King Zaraki of Kingdom Zephyra.
"General Alaric, tomorrow after the royal hunt, I will summon all the generals and the high-ranking officials for our strategic planning. Kingdom Zephyra is on the move. General Blackridge and General Ravenmoor suggested to implent our assassination plan," King Solomon said, informing the young general.
"Are you done choosing the mbers of the assassination team? What is your initial plan for this? How many n are you planning to bring with you? Are all mbers of 5th Batallion coming with you?" King Solomon asked him.
Alaric considered the risk of this mission. He wouldn’t bring all the mbers of the 5th Battalion.
"Your Majesty, the Assassination Team will be composed of eight mbers. I don’t need to bring all the mbers of the 5th Battalion. With a small number, we can easily sneak out of the Zephyra Kingdom."
King Solomon’s eyes widened upon hearing that.
"Only Eight mbers?! What will you do if you get caught? You will be easily outnumbered!" King Solomon was worried that the team might fail. They could die instantly once they got caught.
"You don’t have to worry about that, Your Majesty. Ever since this mission was given to , I already considered the possibility of not returning alive. That’s why I am still having a hard ti choosing the knights who will join . Everyone has a family waiting for them." Alaric was honest and frank with him.
King Solomon fell silent. He couldn’t refute that. He was aware of the great risk of this mission.
"Alright. I’ll give you the freedom to organize the team. In one month, you have to prepare and set a journey to Kingdom Zephyra. I trust you. You are our kingdom’s hero. You will be victorious again." King Solomon was putting his trust in Alaric’s capability.
"Just tell anything you need. I will provide you with all the resources you need for this mission," the king added.
"Your Majesty, aside from the weapons we need, I only have one request from you..." Alaric said, eting King Solomon’s gaze.
"What is it? Just tell ."
"Please allow to bring my wife with to Kingdom Zephyra."
King Solomon was taken aback at the ntion of Eve. There was a hint of hesitation in his eyes.
"No!"
