"Princess, Do you even know who my first love is?"

Alaric’s words kept haunting Eve’s mind. He never told her about his first love. Instead, he challenged her to find out who the person was.

Despite that, Alaric reassured her that even his knights didn’t know his first love. So she must not believe their words.

Eve was in the backyard, checking her dicinal garden. Claire and Marie accompanied her as they pulled out the weeds in the garden area.

"Your Highness, what are you thinking?" Marie asked, noticing that she was in deep thought.

"Princess, are you troubled by sothing?" Claire chid in.

Eve smiled at them faintly. "Oh, It’s nothing. My husband just gave a mystery puzzle to solve."

The two female servants giggled upon hearing that.

"Your Highness! Can we help you? We have nothing to do so tell us what we can do here in the garden," Randolf’s voice echoed from behind.

Randolf, Miles, and Dillon approached them, expressing their desire to assist Eve in taking care of the garden.

"Hmm. You can plow this area. We have new seedlings to be planted," Eve instructed them.

The three knights imdiately complied.

"Princess Eve, I have a piece of good news for you!" Randolf said in his elated voice. He began plowing the solid ground.

Eve looked at him with intrigue. "Really? What is it?"

"Do you rember the royal knight who was rude to you?" Randolf replied with a wide grin on his face.

"Yes, why?" Eve asked.

"Commander Caleb taught him a lesson in the training ground today! Haha. He beats them under the command of General Alaric," he proudly said.

Eve gasped upon hearing that. "Is he not in trouble?"

"Of course not. It was an official duel. So you don’t have to worry about Commander Caleb," he reassured her.

Eve felt relieved. She didn’t want Alaric’s n to be in trouble because of her.

"I should thank Commander Caleb." Eve smiled.

Randolf nodded.

"Princess, do you want to visit the slum this week?" Miles asked her expectantly.

"Yes. I do. I’ll ntion this to Alaric. I hope he will agree." Eve glanced at the house.

"I will harvest so dicinal herbs to be distributed there. Claire and Marie, can you help buy rice and salt? We must bring those things as we visit the slum." Eve was looking forward to eting the people in the slum. She felt the need to help them.

"Yes, your Highness! We will do as you command," Marie replied.

"I’ll make so preparations now!" Claire stood up, brushing the dirt off her clothes.

It did not take long before a bird ssenger was spotted flying around the house.

"Oh, we have a ssage from the palace!" Miles inford Randolf.

Randolf raised his arm as they waited for the bird ssenger to land.

Soon, he took the ssage from a wooden capsule and read it.

"Your Highness, King Solomon summoned you and General Alaric to the palace," he inford her.

Eve was taken aback for a mont. ’My father wants to see .’

She had mixed feelings about this. It’s been so long since King Solomon talked to her as her father. She felt like the king had always been avoiding her.

"I’ll inform General Alaric," Randolf said, leaving the garden.

"I’ll go with you!" Eve stood up and followed Randolf.

Alaric and Caleb had just co out of the drawing room when Randolf and Eve ran into them.

"Your Highness," Caleb greeted her with a smile as he courtly bowed at her.

"Where have you been?" Alaric imdiately pulled Eve closer to him, his hand wrapped around her waist. "Did you play with mud?" he added, his eyes scanning her appearance.

Eve let out a soft giggle as she shook her head. "It’s called gardening, not playing with mud." She playfully pinched Alaric’s cheeks.

Alaric smiled as he raised his hand, wiping the dirt off her face.

Caleb and Randolf just exchanged awkward glances with one another. They were not used to seeing Alaric acting so affectionately in front of them.

"Ahem!" Randolf cleared his throat. "General, we’ve received a ssage from the palace." He handed the piece of paper to him.

Alaric frowned upon reading the ssage. After that, he quickly lifted Eve in his arms.

"Hey, what are you doing? Let down." Eve felt a little bit embarrassed since Caleb and Randolf were there, looking at them.

"Let’s take a bath together, Princess. We need to go to the palace!" Alaric said, ignoring Caleb and Randolf’s presence.

Eve could only cover her face from embarrassnt. ’Gosh. How can he say that in front of his knights?’

Randolf and Caleb just watched the couple while grinning from ear to ear.

"Let’s leave. We have to prepare the carriage," Caleb said, tapping Randolf’s shoulder.

"Got it, Commander!"

anwhile, Alaric brought his wife to the bathing chamber. The tub was filled with warm water and petals.

He stood behind her as he began undressing Eve, his fingers gently caressing her exposed skin.

Eve just stayed still, her heart beating rapidly against her chest. His touches were giving her a tingling sensation.

"Eve," he softly uttered her na before planting a soft kiss on the back of her shoulder.

"Hmm?" she humd, urging him to continue his words.

"There is sothing I haven’t told you yet," Alaric whispered in her ear.

"You can tell now," said Eve, turning around to face her husband.

Alaric t her gaze for a long mont before he spoke up once again.

"I have a new mission. I’m afraid I have to leave the kingdom again."

Eve’s heart sank almost instantly when she heard that. "Do you have to go to battle another kingdom again?" The worry and concern were visible in her erald eyes.

’I don’t want him to go,’ she thought to herself, clenching her fists.

Alaric gently lifted her chin. "It’s not an all-out battle. It’s a different mission. I want to bring you with but I’m hesitating because of the danger and risk. I’m not sure if keeping you here is the safest way to protect you."

"I’ll form a team... and we have to go to Kingdom Zephyra."

Eve’s body froze at the ntion of Kingdom Zephyra. It was the kingdom where her mother ca from!
