Alaric escorted Eve to their chamber. The mont they entered, he imdiately trapped her between the wall and his towering figure.
"Alaric," Eve uttered his na as she gazed up, her heartbeat racing.
Alaric stared at her intently with a serious expression on his face. He leaned closer to her face and whispered.
"I have a lot of things I need to know about you. However, I don’t want to force you to speak up... unless you are willing to tell everything." He raised his hand to caress her face.
Eve bit her lower lip. ’We can talk. But why does he have to be so close like this?’
Alaric’s free hand was holding her waist while her back was resting on the wall. Their faces were just a few inches away from each other and she could sll his minty masculine scent.
Eve was being distracted by their closeness. Her gaze fell on Alaric’s lips. Looking at him, she couldn’t help but reminisce about their heated kisses.
Little did she know, Alaric was feeling the sa way. He couldn’t get enough of her. The mont they were left alone in that room, all he could think of was trapping her in his arms and kissing her passionately.
’Damn it, Alaric! Please restrain yourself.’ He reminded himself inwardly.
anwhile, Eve instinctively pressed her palms against his sturdy chest as she continued staring at him.
"I’ll tell you more about myself. In exchange, I want to get to know you more, Alaric," Eve said, smiling at him faintly.
Alaric’s heart skipped a beat upon seeing her captivating smile. He felt like this was the first ti Eve had smiled at him genuinely.
Unable to control his desire, Alaric’s head descended, his lips capturing her lips in a gentle kiss. He brushed her lips for a long mont, just tasting and feeling her sweetness.
Eve didn’t resist him. She responded to his kiss with equal passion. She closed her eyes and parted her lips, allowing Alaric’s tongue to explore her mouth.
Their tongues danced together, wrestling and intertwining inside her mouth. Alaric deepened the kiss as he placed his hand on the back of her head, pulling her. He captured her tongue, licking and sucking on it as if he was so thirsty for her.
The wet passionate kisses lasted for a few minutes. They just broke apart when they needed to gasp so air. Both of them panted heavily, catching their breath.
Alaric rested his forehead on hers, his thumbs caressing her cheeks.
’I’m so addicted to her lips,’ Alaric mumbled inwardly, tracing her lips using his finger.
Eve swallowed hard, a blush overtaking her cheeks. She couldn’t get used to this. She always felt overwheld whenever Alaric would kiss her. She could get lost in his burning passion while setting her body on fire.
’I’m so attracted to him. I can’t resist him. He is right. I’m yearning and longing for his kisses and touches,’ Eve admitted to herself inwardly.
Alaric took a deep sigh. He was torn between kissing her more or discussing more things with her. He was afraid that if he wouldn’t stop now, they would end up in bed, instead of talking about themselves.
"As much as I want to kiss you more, I have to stop now, my princess, otherwise we won’t be able to talk properly while we are in bed," Alaric said, looking at her helplessly.
Eve lowered her gaze, her cheeks reddening further. Alaric was right. They still needed to talk.
He grabbed her hand, pulling her to the bed. He made her sit on his lap.
Eve felt like she was too small for his large figure. She could feel his muscular build as she leaned on him.
"Can’t you put down? Do we need to talk like this?" Eve asked him, feeling a little bit shy.
Alaric shook his head. "No. I want you to talk to as I hug you like this."
Eve could only chew on her lower lip. She didn’t expect Alaric to be so clingy. But she liked it.
"Now, tell more about yourself, Princess. I’m willing to listen," Alaric softly said in her ear, wrapping his arms around her while placing his chin on her shoulder.
"I was not born mute. I lost my ability to speak when I was ten. I only regained my voice after witnessing Annie’s death," Eve started.
"I understand. Maybe you didn’t trust yet at that ti, that’s why you hid it from ." Alaric tried to think from Eve’s perspective.
Eve nodded. "I hated you, thinking you were the reason why Annie died. I felt so alone and I was on guard against you. In the palace, I could trust no one... not even my own family."
There was a hint of sadness in her voice when she ntioned her family.
Eve hesitated for a mont, contemplating whether to tell him about the maltreatnt she received from her family and the truth about her mother.
But this ti she wanted to trust Alaric. She rembered Annie’s words. She told her that Alaric was a good knight. Even after listening to Alaric’s knights, she could tell that her husband was soone she could rely on.
"Alaric... the truth is... I’m only a princess in na, but the royal family never treated as one. I worked for them and served them like a royal servant." Eve lowered her gaze, curling her fingers.
Alaric was dumbfounded upon hearing her words. But he just continued to listen, not wanting to interrupt Eve.
"If I disobeyed or angered them, they would beat and slash with a leather whip as my punishnt. You’ve seen the scars on my back... those are..." Eve was having a hard ti completing her sentence.
A cold glint flashed in Alaric’s eyes and he gritted his teeth. Things beca clearer to him now. The mbers of the royal family were mistreating her for a very long ti.
Alaric tightened his grip on Eve’s body. He wanted to comfort her and tell her that he wouldn’t allow anyone to hurt her starting today.
"They hated because I have a different mother. The King impregnated a servant and they hid this scandal. Queen Amara is not my biological mother."
Alaric finally heard the reason why Queen Amara resented Eve.
He hugged her tightly and said with conviction, "Don’t be afraid, Eve. I will protect you now. I won’t let anyone hurt you even if they are mbers of the royal family."
Eve felt touched by his comforting words. She couldn’t help but shed so tears. She felt so happy knowing that Alaric wanted to protect her.
But her heart was still troubled by sothing as she recalled the knights’ discussion about Alaric’s first love.
"Aren’t you upset with the royal family? They arranged for you to marry a fake princess like . You were forced to marry because of that... you can no longer be with your first love."
Alaric was taken aback for a mont when Eve ntioned his first love.
"Princess, Do you even know who my first love is?" A knowing smile flashed across Alaric’s face as he asked her.
