"Eve’s mother is from Kingdom Zephyra... Does it an... you know her?"
Alaric looked at General Artemis with curiosity. He didn’t expect that his master knew Eve’s mother.
"Yes. It seems that you already know that Queen Amara is not Eve’s mother. You aren’t surprised when I ntion it." General Artemis smiled at Alaric aningfully.
Alaric nodded. "My wife told about it. However, she never ntioned that her mother’s holand is Kingdom Zephyra. Now I understand why she wanted to go there with ."
"How did you know Eve’s mother? Can you tell more about her?" Alaric asked his master.
He wanted to learn more about Eve’s mother, planning to share the information with Eve.
anwhile, General Artemis fell silent for a mont. He drank his beer as he contemplated sothing.
"Alaric, what I’m about to tell you is very confidential. I hope you will keep this a secret. I might get beheaded if other people find out." General Artemis’s tone was very serious.
Alaric furrowed his eyebrows into a knot while eyeing General Artemis intently. He beca more intrigued.
"I promise. I won’t tell anyone. You are my master. I don’t want you to die because of . I’ll keep your secret," he reassured him.
General Artemis chuckled once more, patting Alaric’s shoulder.
"I was the one who helped Eve’s mother to settle here in our kingdom. I recomnded her to enter the palace and she beca a servant. I did it for her protection. I was the only one who knew her real identity."
"Alaric," General Artemis paused for a mont, gripping his shoulder firmly. "Your wife’s mother is a princess of Kingdom Zephyra."
Alaric’s eyes widened upon hearing that revelation. He was at a loss for words.
General Artemis continued, "King Solomon and Queen Amara have no idea that Esralda is the exiled princess from Zephyra, an enemy kingdom."
"The previous ruler of Kingdom Zephyra, King Arthur, was my old friend. When he was executed by his brother Zaraki, Princess Esralda fled to stay alive. She was instructed by her father to co here and see ."
He paused for a mont, taking a sip of his beer.
"I didn’t expect that King Solomon would fall in love with her even though she was living here as a servant. He even impregnated Esralda, betraying Queen Amara."
General Artemis felt guilty for not being able to stop King Solomon from having an affair with Princess Esralda. He blad himself for what happened to her.
"I know Princess Eve had suffered enough because of King Solomon’s sin. Please take good care of her and protect her. She is a true heiress of Kingdom Zephyra. If ever you succeed in your mission, I hope Princess Eve will reclaim the throne that was stolen from her family. Killing King Zaraki is also one way of avenging Princess Eve’s grandfather."
Alaric didn’t know what to feel about this. He had mixed emotions right now.
’My wife is a princess of Kingdom Zephyra... Her mother is not an ordinary servant.’
"I think it is best for Princess Eve to stay in Kingdom Zephyra once you eliminate King Zaraki. He is the greatest threat to your wife’s safety. She has the right to the throne." General Artemis gave him so advice.
"But the question is... are you willing to stay with her in Kingdom Zephyra? Will you assist her and rule the kingdom with her?" The old general posed a very serious question to Alaric.
Alaric pursed his lips, clenching his fists. He wasn’t prepared for this. He was still overwheld by this shocking revelation. He couldn’t decide right away.
General Artemis exhaled deeply upon seeing the hesitation in Alaric’s eyes.
"Why are you hesitating, Alaric? Don’t you want her to be free from Queen Amara’s grasp? Kingdom Zephyra will be her new ho. And she can do it with you."
General Artemis was rooting for the couple. He believed that the two of them could rule a kingdom together.
"I only know how to fight on the battlefield, but not to rule an entire kingdom. This is a great responsibility. I don’t know if I can do it. But one thing I can assure you. I will never leave Eve’s side. I will protect and support her with my power," Alaric responded with sincerity.
General Artemis chuckled once more. He tapped Alaric’s back nurous tis as he was satisfied by his last remark.
"I knew it. I was right!"
Alaric frowned in confusion. "Right about what, master?"
"I was right in choosing you to be Eve’s husband. Now, I have to confess. It’s who influenced Queen Amara to choose you as Princess Eve’s husband. Hahaha! Now, you owe , young man! I gave you a beautiful wife!" General Artemis wrapped his arm around Alaric’s shoulders as he teased him.
Alaric was rendered speechless. ’It’s my master who made marry Princess Eve. I can’t believe this. I have to thank him. I owe him... a lot.’
"Master, thank you for choosing . Now, tell ... what should I do to return the favor? You don’t know how much this ans to . I truly love my wife. She is my first love." Alaric admitted, expressing his gratitude to his master.
Now, he finally understood why he was chosen by Queen Amara to beco Princess Eve’s husband. General Artemis made Queen Amara believe that Alaric was the best choice since he was just a knight commander from a commoner family with no chance of getting promoted.
However, General Artemis had already anticipated that Alaric would achieve more from the battlefield because he was the greatest warrior of Kingdom Averion. General Artemis was the one who discovered Alaric’s potential of becoming a kingdom’s hero! He had been supporting him in the shadows.
"I only have one favor to ask you, Alaric. Protect Princess Eve and help her reclaim the throne of Kingdom Zephyra. When I die, I can finally face my old friend, King Arthur," General Artemis replied with his hopeful eyes.
He didn’t regret choosing Alaric to beco Princess Eve’s husband and protector. For him, the couple would do great things in the future.
