The trek back to Ashenfall was not a celebratory one. People mourned their friends and family and were angered by Rick’s betrayal. They were grateful that they were able to kill all the bandits, so of them even getting revenge, but that didn’t make the feeling of loss any better.
"What’s up with them?"
"They lost a lot of people."
"My son! Is my son with you?!"
Many people who knew about the raid rushed to the adventurers, hoping to find their loved one still with them. So were fortunate enough to find their friends and families; others were not.
Gwen’s face went from neutral to sad in an instant. "I feel bad for them. The pain of losing soone you love...I cant begin to imagine how that must feel. Even though I hate my family, I wouldn’t want them to die."
Amaya agreed. "My parents used to be adventurers, and when they almost died on a quest, they retired and started a family. They were upset that I wanted to follow in their footsteps since they almost died in that profession. I now understand why they didn’t approve of that."
"Don’t worry, you two, I’ll make sure to protect you both at all tis," Kai reassured them.
When they arrived at the guild, everyone was greeted by Kassandra, who asked for the details. Kai released Sasha and Stacey from his pocket dinsion and Rick as well. After that, they explained everything.
"I see." Kassandra gazed into Rick’s eyes with fury. Her stare was so powerful that he passed out.
"Stacey, you take Sasha to the infirmary so she can rest. Since she’s still unconscious, she might have suffered more trauma than you realized. You, too, should also go get checked out. You might have so lingering trauma as well."
"Y-Yes, guildmaster."
"Kai, a word?" Kassandra asked
"Sure. Gwen, Amaya, don’t wait up for . I’ll see you at the inn later."
"Okay." They both gave him a kiss on the lips and left the guild after receiving their reward.
Kai followed Kassandra to her office.
"Did you kill Carlos?" She asked
"Yeah." He took his head from his inventory. "Here."
"Good work. Sorry about Rick. I didn’t know he was a part of the Cult of Demons."
"It’s alright. He was easy to deal with anyway. It’s just unfortunate that you lost three S-Ranks." Kai pointed out.
"Four." Kassandra corrected.
"Four?" Kai asked
"Yeah. Rick’s party, the five of them, they all grew up together. They were like siblings. Stacey, the youngest out of all of them, really clung to and relied on Rick. She never cared to be an Adventurer, but did so because the others beca one and she had the talent."
Kai closed his eyes, feeling sorry for Stacey. "Damn. So what happened most likely crushed her spirit. No, it definitely broke sothing in her."
"That’s right. Sasha was always headstrong and proactive. While she will definitely feel hurt and broken, she most likely wont quit adventuring. Because of this, I plan on making Stacy my assistant."
"Is this what you wanted to talk to about?" He asked
’Because I already know what I’m gonna do with those girls, hehe. I want Sasha to join my party. She’s an S-Rank and she’s a dwarf! Her body is also hot as fuck. While she isn’t as busty as the others because of her race, she would definitely be considered busty by her race. As for Stacey, she’s cute, so I’ll be nice this ti and simply give her a child.’
"No, I wanted to ask you if you would be up for exploring the Labrynth?"
"The Labrynth, huh." Kai didn’t know what to expect there. While he knew it could have so good loot, he didn’t know if it was like gas where enemies drop good items.
"If you’re not feeling up to it, then that’s fine. But after this recent fiasco, I would really like to have soone I trust by my side."
Kai’s eyebrows rose. "You trust ." He asked with a smile.
"O-Of course I do! Why wouldn’t I?" She blushed
"Sure, I’m down to join."
"That’s great! We’ll leave in a week. I want people to settle down and mourn their losses before we go on another dangerous expedition."
Before Kai could respond, a knock on Kassandra’s office door interrupted them.
"Excuse , Guildmaster Kassandra, I am Carlton of the Borington Knights. May have a word with you?" He asked
"Enter." She answered emotionlessly.
A man dressed in high-ranking Knight armor, accompanied by four other knights of a lower rank, walked into her office. They stood at attention behind Carlton as he greeted Kassandra.
"My apologies, Guildmaster, but I have business with this man you are currently talking to."
Kassandra raised an eyebrow. "May I ask why?"
"He has used magic within the city limits, killed a Knight of the Borington house, and physically and ntally injured Young Master Snore."
Kassandra glared at Kai with a confused expression. But Kai just shrugged his shoulders, not denying the accusations.
"It seems that this is out of my hands. I’ll leave everything to you, Sir Carlton." Kassandra sighed.
"Thank you, Guildmaster. You! Stand up! You’re under arrest for the-"
"Yeah, yeah, just put in handcuffs already." Kai stood up and surrendered himself.
Carlton wasn’t expecting Kai to give up without a fight, but hey, it made just job easier, so he wouldn’t complain. He placed mana-canceling shackles over Kai’s hands that nearly extended elbows.
"The lord wants a word with you." Carlton sneered.
"And I want a word with him as well," Kai smirked.
’Kai, if anything happens, I’ll save you.’ Kassandra spoke to him telepathically.
’Darling, I’ve got this. Just sit back, relax, and wait for to return. Oh, and make sure you have so sexy lingerie. I’ll be fucking you until you pass out.’
Kassandra blushed hard, her thighs rubbing against each other as she almost ca on herself.
