"Ha, it’s about ti you showed up. I was starting to think sothing happened to you all." A man who was sitting down on a chair, sharpening his glaive, said without looking up at his opponents.
He had a lean but muscular build. Scars marked his body, showing his many victories in battle. He had scruffy facial hair and unkept wild hair, akin to soone living in the wild.
From the look in his eyes, one could tell that he was tired, not tired from exhaustion, but from life itself. He didn’t care anymore and just wanted to do whatever he wanted. Live life freely without a care in the world.
"Carlos." Sasha scowled. "You sent those assassins after us!"
"Sure did. They should have finished the job as well, but I guess you can’t rely on people to do your own dirty work. They never get things right." He stood up, stretching his back.
Rick’s Party all got into position and readied themselves.
Rick pointed his sword at Carlos, putting on a good act. "You wont be walking out of here alive."
"What a dumb saying. The dead can’t walk."
"That’s the point, dumbass!" Stacey said back.
Carlos smiled, looked up at his glaive, and brushed so dust off it. "Do you know why they call ’Carlos, the Jabber’ despite using a glaive as my weapon?"
Sasha rolled her eyes. She didn’t care about a history lesson and wanted to get this over with. "Because they couldn’t co up with a better nickna. Who cares."
"Heh, no, no. It’s because everyone gets taken off guard when they realize that I only use a glaive for fun." He vanished and jabbed Sasha right in the neck.
At least that’s what he wanted to do. She had quickly put up her shield to deflect the attack, a projected version of it appearing in the air, but it instantly shattered and knocked her back into a wall.
"S-Shit! Form up!" Rick rushed in and swung at Carlos, but his sword was parried by his glaive. Right before Carlos could cut off Rick’s head, Charles blocked the attack with a barrier just in ti.
"Thanks, man."
Charles nodded. He then buffed everyone of his Party mbers and placed a debuff on Carlos.
Stacey prepared a spell and aid her staff at Carlos. "Nice going, Charles. Rick, follow my lead." An elental vortex blasted toward the bandit with enough power to tear through a mountain.
"Got it!" Rick followed behind the spell.
Sasha also got back up and positioned herself in front of Charles in case he got hurt.
"This is cute." Carlos’s glaive glowed red, and then he jabbed at it, which completely blew the spell apart.
Since Rick was right behind the spell, he didn’t have ti to back away, and Carlos managed to slice open his stomach.
"Garghhhh!!"
"Rick!" Stacey bombarded Carlos with more spells, but his glaive cut through them all.
Victor rapidly fired arrows, hoping at least one would hit him, but Carlos spun his glaive, deflecting the arrow, then cut off one of Victor’s arms.
"Argh! Fuck! My arm!"
"Amateurs." Carlos grinned, then charged at them.
"Dammit! He isn’t a Tier-8 Warrior, he’s a Tier-9! Stacey, stay behind ! Charles, heal them!" Sasha put up another energy shield projection, but that too was broken by Carlor, but this ti, she was prepared.
She wielded her hamr in her right hand and swung it down with such force that it created a crater and a huge shockwave.
Stacey followed up by using earth magic to have the flying rock fragnts shoot at Carlos while she used wind magic to make the dirt that was picked up in the air cloud his vision.
"Victor is healed. Just hold him off a bit longer." Charles inford them.
"Don’t worry. He may be getting through my shield projections, but he can’t get through my actual shield." Sasha smiled.
Carlos’s glaive flew their the air and pierced Sasha right in the chest, passing right through her shield, which shattered as the force of Carlos’s throw was too strong for her and the shield to handle.
"W-What?" Sasha looked down, shied broken and blood gushing out of her chest. She vomited blood, and the glaive returned to Carlos’s hand, causing Sasha to collapse onto the ground. She wasn’t dead, but would be very soon.
Stacey couldn’t believe her eyes. Sasha was known for how powerful her defense was. Charles even buffed it, yet Carlos broke through her defences like nothing.
"Victor, we have to-" Her speech was cut off when she saw Victor’s head roll on the ground right in front of her. "Ahhhhhh!!" She scread, stumbling backward before falling on her ass.
"T-This can’t be real! This can’t be real!"
"Oh, but it is." A that ca from behind, Stacey spoke.
She turned around to see Rick holding a lifeless Charles by the hair, dropping him to the ground before stabbing him in the neck to make sure he was truly dead.
"Fuck! That feels great! You don’t know how long I’ve been waiting for this mont." Rick yelled in excitent.
"R-Rick? W-What’s going on? Why did you kill our friends?" Stacey was sobbing at this point, trying her best to understand what was happening.
He sighed, waving her questions off. "You wouldn’t understand even if I told you."
"Nngulgh."
Rick looked down and saw that Sasha was still breathing, albeit choking on her blood, but still breathing.
"Tsk, can’t even kill her properly," Rick complained.
"R-Rick! Please! Please stop it! H-He’s controlling you, using you! Snap out of it!" Stacey begged.
"Controlling ? Ha, please. You don’t understand how much I hated working with you all. The tis I’ve wanted to kill you but couldn’t because we needed you as sacrifices. Thankfully, we only need your bodies now, so that ans you all can just die!" Just as his sword was about to cut off Sasha’s neck, a blade sliced his own arm off.
"AGHHHHH!!! FUCK!! MY FUCKING ARM! WHO DID THAT?!"
"Don’t worry, she’ll be alright," Kai reassured Stacey, healing Sasha in the process.
The color of Sasha’s face returned, and her pain went away, replaced by a soothing feeling that made her feel comfortable. Because of her stress and near-death experience, she passed out.
"W-Who are you?" Stacey asked, looking up at the most handso man she had ever seen.
"To you, my beautiful lady, your guardian angel. But to them," Kai pointed his blade at the two n and released all his power, "The fucking devil."
