"Really? You’ll take with you? Yes! Thank you! I promise to tell my father to reward you when I get back ho!" Tyria hugged Gwen and squealed with joy.
"Yeah, yeah. Like I said, don’t cause any trouble. If you run away again, I’m not looking for you. Also, I’m just letting you know this right now. We’re adventurers, which ans we don’t have access to the fancy stuff a woman of your status would. So, I better not hear any complaining from you one bit. If I do, you’re gone!"
Tyria nodded, accepting Kai’s demands. She was too scared to be on her own. Besides, she thought he was very handso, so listening to a man like him wouldn’t be a problem for her.
Kai made dinner for Tyria as he assud she would be starving, which she was. After that, they set up their tents and went to sleep.
---
"So, Tyria, what can you do? I can sense mana from you. Do you wield magic or a weapon?" Gwen asked, trying to make conversation.
"I use magic. My mother taught from a young age. I also go to the Royal Academy for Magic and Martial Arts, and I’ve learned from there as well."
"That’s amazing. Kai and I plan on applying to the Hero Academy, but that’s for later. We want to beco S-Rank Adventurers first."
"Wait." She turned to Kai. "I thought you were a Rank-10 warrior."
"I am." He confird
"Then how co you aren’t an S-Rank adventurer yet? I’m sure you’re more than strong enough to beco one." Her first thought was that he was faking his rank. She heard that faking ranks is common among adventurers.
"I only beca an Adventurer about a month ago. Because of that, I want to work for my rank and gain experience before I rank up. Also, Gwen needs to get stronger as well since we’re in a party."
"Oh, I understand." She nodded.
Although Kai planned on walking to Highgrive Village, a carriage happened to pass by and offer them a ride to the place.
Kai decided to accept the offer, handing the coachman a silver coin instead of the usual bronze, and climbed in. There were a few people on there, but it was still large enough for the three of them.
Thankfully, no one recognized Tyria. Kai had her remove all her jewelry and forced her to wear a cloak over her body to cover up her expensive dress. He told her that when she arrived in Highgrove, he would buy her so clothes for the ti being.
After about thirty minutes, they arrived at the village.
Highgrove was a large village, larger than the previous villages Kai had been to. Still, it was smaller than Hearthwood as it was a village, not a town. However, you wouldn’t think that if you looked at how bustling this place was.
"What’s going on here?" Gwen wondered. "I never knew this place got so much activity."
"Ahh, yer must be new here, eh?" An old man smoking a pipe asked them.
"This is my first ti here, yes," Kai responded.
"Makes sense. You new folk always be confused when yer arrive here. Yer see the mountain over yander?" The man asked, pointing westward.
"Yeah."
"Well, the mountain is also a tomb."
Tyria butted in. "You an the tomb of the first hero?!" She asked in excitent
"Hahaha! Seems like yer friend knows the story."
"Of course I do! The first hero was born in this village, and he rose to power after being blessed by the goddess! After he killed the demon king who threatened the world, he returned ho, where he lived out the rest of his days until he died. But before that, he created a tomb where people who passed his trials could be able to claim his sword! The sa one that slayed the demon king!"
"Couldn’t have said it better myself, lass!"
"So is everyone here to get the sword?" Kai asked
"Aye. Everyone cos to these parts, risking everything for fa and fortune. However, they leave with nothing but their broken pride. Ha, gives us villagers so good money, though." He flicked a gold coin.
"So, yer kids interested in the hero’s sword?"
"Nah. Thanks for the story, though." Kai and Gwen walked away with Tyria, looking at the old man and Kai multiple tis before following him.
"Why aren’t you interested in the sword? It’s so cool! Don’t you want to be a hero?" She asked
’Girl, I don’t need that sword to be a hero. I’ll already beco one using my own power. My hypnosis power.’
"Nah, not interested in that for now. I just want to beco an S-Rank adventurer for the ti being."
"But that’s so boring!"
"The difference in social class is insane." Gwen laughed.
Tyria frowned. "What are you trying to say?"
"What I’m saying is that everything you’ll ever want and need is taken care of for you. A ho, education, money, training, food, everything. Because of that, you have the ti to worry about trivial things such as the hero’s sword. But to us who aren’t as privileged, we have to focus on whether we can even eat dinner tonight."
Tyria felt ashad. She didn’t an to co off as insensitive. She was just expressing how she felt.
"We’ll check it out after we finish what we ca here for," Kai said to cheer her up.
"Really?! You an it?!"
"Yeah. Besides, I can’t deny that I’m a tiny bit interested in this hero sword."
"Yes! Woohoo! I can’t wait! So, what will we be doing in the anti?"
"Well, our first order of business is to get you so new clothes. After that, we’ll take on so requests at the adventurers’ or hunters’ guild. After that, we’ll stock up on so supplies for our travels, then we’ll hit up that sword."
"I’ve always wanted to beco an adventurer! My father never allowed it, though."
Kai wrapped his arm around the princess and Gwen. "Well, from today until you et back up with your guard, you’ll be an honorary mber of our party. Welco aboard."
Her face bead with excitent. "Thank you for having !"
