Chapter 2292: Chapter 2292: What Does the City Lord Think?

Could anyone possibly think of a sche where, if his wife gives birth to a girl, she would be swapped for a boy?

Under the justification of: avoiding the wrath of the citizens of Sky City!

"They... wouldn’t dare do such a thing, would they?"

"City Lord, the human heart is unpredictable," Lin Baizhong reminded him.

Lu Tianfeng is like this, and so is Lu Tiankuo, whom he once suppressed—a bird of a feather, neither of them is any better!

"What should we do? This montum has already been built up," the City Lord asked him.

Such montum, so grandiose—it suddenly struck him that even Lu Tianfeng might have played a hand in it.

Because it was Lu Tianfeng who once ntioned in front of him: that the City Lord’s Mansion now had heirs. From there, he went on to assu that his wife was carrying a son, the Junior City Lord of Sky City.

Looking back, in the beginning, when he invited Lu Tianfeng to his wife’s chambers to diagnose her pulse, it was simply to ask whether this ti the pregnancy would go well.

That was all.

Unexpectedly, however, the montum grew, snowballed to a point of no return.

And those precious dicinal resources—that was what pushed him into the abyss!

Imagine this: consuming so much manpower, material wealth, finances, to secure so many rare dicinal ingredients, only to end up with a daughter...

It’s not that he doesn’t like daughters—but in Sky City, there are many people who are starkly pragmatic. They only care about whether Sky City has an heir, not whether his wife gives birth to a boy or girl.

"The montum has already been set in motion—it’s impossible now to pull back," Lin Baizhong thought for a mont and said.

Indeed.

So things, once the bowstring is drawn, there’s no turning back.

The montum unleashed—now not a single person in Sky City is unaware, and word has even spread across the entirety of Illusion Continent.

"Our only option now is to stir up so rumors regarding Second Young Master’s dicinal resource list. Quietly let it be known that many of the dicinal resources on that list are specifically for Second Young Master himself, because his illness is severe, requiring the rarest of ingredients."

He said.

Since this whole affair originated with Lu Tianfeng, he might as well make Lu Tianfeng bear the consequences.

"This... isn’t quite right, is it?"

The City Lord hesitated upon hearing this.

"Tianfeng’s health is already poor, and now we’re asking him to bear this responsibility too—it doesn’t quite seem fair, does it?"

"City Lord, do you really think that the news of the City Lord’s wife carrying the Junior City Lord ca from anyone in the City Lord’s Mansion?" Lin Baizhong sneered as he questioned him.

"Uh."

The City Lord was left montarily speechless.

"Are you saying that this matter was manipulated by Tianfeng in secret?"

"What does the City Lord think?" Lin Baizhong retorted yet again.

At these words, the City Lord fell silent.

Perhaps this whole debacle truly had sothing to do with Lu Tianfeng. He had always suspected—Lu Tianfeng’s concern for the child in his wife’s belly was excessive.

Details big and small, imaginable and unimaginable—everything was thought through.

Even he, the child’s own father, hadn’t considered things in such ticulous detail.

"Fine. As for what you’ve ntioned, I will have soone take care of it," he nodded.

"If that’s all, I shall take my leave now." Lin Baizhong stood up, handing the list over to the City Lord.

But the City Lord didn’t take it. Instead, he shook his head.

"Keep this one. It’s a copy. Tianfeng’s handwritten original—I’ve kept it sowhere safe," he said.

"Then I shall thank the City Lord for his trust." Lin Baizhong didn’t say much further. Taking the list, he stepped away directly.
