William together with ten soldiers from om the Golden Lake headed to the gathering spot of the reinforcent army with the letter of recomndation from Aethelwolf.
He was a bit nervous since this was his first important task. He was only an ordinary servant before and he didn't have much experience in combat and warfare. This made the task more complicated for him since he needed to learn most of the relevant information from scratch.
When he arrived, four of the five noble families had already sent their armies. The only one who hadn't arrived yet was the Cromwell Family.
"Halt! No civilians are allowed to get close to this area!" A soldier guarding the entrance shouted at him in a warning tone. The nearby soldiers looked over to see the situation and they all stared at William with interest.
William was dressed in battle armor custom-made by Aethelwolf for him. It was just his armor was so unique that everyone thought that he was only a wandering Esper.
The army of the five noble families wore different colored armor which differentiated them from each other. William's armor didn't match any of them so they thought that he was a civilian or a random hunter.
William didn't want to embarrass his lord so he straightened his back and put on a cold look. He then grabbed his letter of recomndation and said. "We are sent here by Lord Aethelwolf Lassiter to support the reinforcent army. Here is our letter of recomndation."
The soldiers were surprised to hear this. Aethelwolf already had so fa in Northern Trance. They knew that he was the owner of Ethereal Beauty Shop and the newly erged Nascent Soul Esper. Just his cultivation alone was enough to make everyone respect him.
The guard didn't take the letter of recomndation. He smiled and responded in a friendly manner. "So you are from the Golden Lake Manor. Please forgive for my ignorance. Let take you to the commander. He will make the arrangents for you guys."
William nodded calmly. The guards of the Golden Lake Manor were also relieved. If they weren't allowed to enter, that would have been embarrassing.
Soon, they were taken to the largest tent, but only William was allowed to enter. The rest were told to wait outside.
"Sir, this is William. He is an expert sent by the Golden Lake Manor." The soldier introduced him to the middle-aged man in a blue and silver battle uniform.
The middle-aged man stopped what he was doing and lifted his head. "Golden Lake Manor? Did Sir Aethelwolf send you here?" He curiously stared at William. Upon sensing his cultivation, he was a bit disappointed, but he didn't show it to his face. He was aware that the Golden Lake Manor had lost most of their fighting force a long ti ago together with the forr owner.
It was a tragedy that everyone in Northern Trance knew.
William nodded his head. "This is our letter of recomndation." He handed it to the middle-aged man.
The middle-aged man took the letter and opened it. A mont later, he nodded. "I have verified the letter. For the ti being, you will join the second cavalry battalion which is under my direct command. Have your people gather and take them to the second cavalry battalion's camp. Oh, I almost forgot.
I'm Kenneth Suliman, the commander of the reinforcent army."
"It's a pleasure to et you, sir! I'm William!" William was shocked to hear this na. This man was one of the strongest in Northern Trance. He was a Nascent Soul Esper who had unlocked two of his soul nodules!
Kenneth smiled at him. He then turned his head to the soldier beside William and said. "Take them to the second cavalry battalion's camp."
"Yes, sir!"
"If you need anything, don't hesitate to look for ," Kenneth said to William.
"Thank you, sir!" William nodded gratefully.
Aethelwolf's recomndation letter was very useful. Because of this, they were directly taken to the commander of the reinforcent army.
Soon, they arrived at the camp of the second cavalry battalion. "That's the camp. Just tell the person in charge that you were sent by Sir Kenneth. I have to go back to my post now. See you guys later."
"Thanks, man." William thanked him. He then took his ten-man squad to the camp.
"Who are you guys? Which family did you co from?" A soldier barred them from entering.
'Again?' William smiled wryly.
"We are from the Golden Lake Manor. Sir Kenneth arranged for us to be a part of the battalion." William calmly said.
Hearing this, the soldiers' eyes eased up.
"Is that so? Follow inside. I'll bring you to the captain."
"Alright." William followed the man inside the camp. He didn't expect that joining the army would be this difficult. They had to go through many people just to get proper arrangents. If it weren't for Aethelwolf's recomndation letter, they would have had to stand outside the gathering area under the sweltering heat of the sun.
"Captain, this man is saying that Sir Kenneth put them into our battalion."
The captain looked young which surprised him. He was probably in his early thirties based on his facial features. He already had a Silver Core. Compared to him who only had a Hollow Core, this man was a lot stronger.
"I'm Roy Suliman, the captain of this battalion. My n are still verifying this with the commander's camp so please stay here temporarily."
William sighed, but he didn't express any disagreent. 'Did Sir Kenneth forget to send a letter or did he do it intentionally?' They wouldn't have to waste so much ti if Kenneth sent a letter of acknowledgnt.
"I'm William from the Golden Lake Manor. Sir Aethelwolf sent us here to help the reinforcents army." William smiled.
"Golden Lake Manor? I've heard a lot about Sir Aethelwolf from my friend, Tyrone." Roy's expression softened after hearing his introduction. He had a good impression of Aethelwolf. The man saved their young lord and young miss so he was grateful to him.
