Chapter 66: Chapter 66

A R I A N A

Once we were away from the store, I pulled my hand back from Damien’s. "Thank you," I said, my voice still a little shaky. "But you should not have lied, you should not have said I was your wife." I say

Damien gave

a small, apologetic smile. "I am sorry for the lie but I saw how they were treating you, It was wrong and you did not deserve that so I had to do sothing big to make them stop."

My brows furrowed well of course he did sothing big if Dante was to ever find out that his biggest rival claid

as his wife to the public, hell will let loose.

He looked at

closely. "Is Dante not treating you well? Is that why you have no money? Why you are alone?" He says snapping

out of my train of thoughts.

I felt a flash of annoyance. "No! Of course not! It is not like that at all, if anything, Dante treats

very well. He gave

his card before I ca her and I lost it. In fact we were suppose to co where together but sothing ca up at work so I had to co here alone. "

Damien held up his hands like he was surrendering. "Okay, okay" he paused, "But we sealed the deal yesterday, there’s no work not that I know off" he says.

My brows draw together, what was he insinuating? "So? What’s your point?"

He shrugs, "I’m just saying"

But could Dante have lied to ? Did he have other things to do?

I hated that Damien was causing doubt in my heart, but I trust Dante, if he said he had work to do, then he had work to do nothing Damien says matters.

He looked around the busy mall. "Anyways don’t think too much about it" he snaps

out of my thoughts, "Let

make it up to you, let’s grab sothing to eat, you look like you could use a calm mont."

I shook my head quickly. "No thank you, I’m fine. Dante would probably be here anyti from now."

"Please," Damien said, his voice soft. "One coffee as a thank you for saving you from a very bad day It is the least I can do after my n caused you trouble at the gala."

I hesitated.

I knew Dante would be furious if he knew I was with his rival but then Damien had helped .

He had saved

from the police and that horrible manager, It felt rude to say no.

"Okay," I said finally, even though my stomach was tight with nerves. "One coffee but just as a thank you then I have to go."

Damien smiled. "Of course Just a thank you."

I followed him to a cafe, knowing this was probably a mistake.

But I felt like I owed him.

I just hoped Dante would never find out or show up, cause if he did, it won’t end well.

We sat at a small table in the cafe with Damien trying to make conversation.

I was nervous at first.

But slowly, I started to relax he was actually funny, he told a funny story about a business trip that went wrong.

I laughed a little.

We talked for a while It felt almost normal like having coffee with a friend.

What is it in Damien that agitates Dante then? He doesn’t seem like a bad guy.

I took a bite of my pastry listening to him, so sugar got in my lips.

Damien reached across the table with a napkin "You have a little..." he said, and gently wiped my lip.

I froze.

It felt too familiar, too personal.

My face got hot.

"Thank you," I mumbled, looking down at my coffee.

I knew it was ti to go. "I should leave now," I said, standing up. "Dante will be worried."

That was lie.

Dante was suppose to et

here yet he’s still not here. No texts or calls, I was starting to get worried.

Damien stood up too. "Of course let

walk you out then."

He walked with

to the front of the mall where the taxis were I felt relieved to be leaving.

I needed so air away from him, his precese wasn’t good for

or my marriage and the sooner I get out of here the better it is.

After what seed like forever, the taxi pulled up.

"Thank you for today" I say to which he nods before leaning in and placing kiss on my cheek.

I gasped and stepped back, my hand flying to my cheek.

It happened so fast.

He just smiled. "It was nice talking to you, Ariana Take care."

I didn’t know what to say I just gave a weird, uncomfortable smile and quickly slipped into the taxi.

As the car drove away, my mind was racing. Why did he do that? It was just a kiss on the cheek, but it felt wrong.

Dante would be so angry if he knew.

I felt a knot of guilt tighten in my stomach I had just had coffee with my husband’s biggest enemy and I had let him kiss .

It was a very bad idea one that won’t end well if Dante was to find out.

Fuck!

What have I done?
