[Owen's POV]

I moved across the rooftops, glancing back once at the alley where the kids were still curled near the fading barrel fire. They were asleep now—finally, after eating. But this wasn't a place they could stay.

No kid should have to fall asleep wondering if the shadows might eat them alive.

I needed to find sothing better. Not temporary. Not a charity handout. Sothing stable.

I activated the Beast System's Utility Scan, filtering the search toward safe zones, abandoned shelters, or unused properties nearby.

> [Scan Complete – Viable Locations: 1]

Na: St. Aurora's Old Orphanage

Distance: 3.2 km Southeast

Status: Condemned / Recently Cleansed (by user)

Threat Level: Cleared

System Note: Structural damage minor. Restorable. Good location for setting up protected territory.

I smirked. I had been there before... Two nights ago, I wiped out a nest of Nightlings that had taken root inside the ruins. Guess I'd unintentionally cleared it for a new purpose.

"Fitting," I muttered, leaping to the next rooftop. "The King of Beasts reclaiming territory for his own."

Within minutes, I reached the site. The building stood tall in the pale moonlight, cracked and worn by ti—but not unsalvageable. The stained-glass windows were broken, and vines crept up the sides, but the structure held firm. Most importantly—it was clean. No traces of demonic aura, no lingering corruption.

I stepped through the rusted front gates, pushing open the heavy wooden doors.

The air inside was still. Peaceful, almost. Dust floated lazily in shafts of moonlight.

I walked through each hallway, using my beast instincts to detect even the faintest hint of danger. Nothing. The basent had a few rats, maybe a rogue raccoon—but no monsters. Just silence.

Perfect.

The windows shimred. The broken door locked in place. The interior glowed faintly as my energy spread through the building, claiming it—protecting it.

"Now..." I whispered, turning. "Let's bring those kids ho."

Back at the alley, the kids were still dozing. I landed softly beside them, cloak rustling.

The boy blinked awake, imdiately tensing. "You ca back?"

"Told you I would," I replied. "Get up. I've got a place for you."

He hesitated. "Are you gonna sell us or sothing?"

I chuckled. "No. I'm not that kind of monster."

With no other choice, they followed.

By the ti we reached the orphanage, dawn was just brushing the horizon. The glowing sigil on the front gates pulsed faintly, sensing my presence.

"Whoa..." the little girl whispered. "It looks like a castle..."

"Think of it as your den," I said softly, pushing the doors open.

Inside, soft lights humd. The main hall had already begun to self-repair. A fresh sll replaced the old musty air.

"It's safe now," I said, turning to face them. "No monsters. No hunger. No fear."

The kids stepped inside slowly, awe in their eyes.

"This place... it's ours now?" the youngest boy asked.

"For as long as I breathe," I answered.

As the sun rose outside, I stood in the doorway, watching them explore, laugh—live.

They didn't know I wasn't the original Owen. They didn't know what I was preparing to face next.

But that didn't matter.

Because this—protecting those who had nothing—was why I was here.

Even the King of Beasts has a duty to those too small to fight.

"Show my status window," I muttered.
