Chapter 71: Chapter 071: Heartbeat

Qi Yue found herself at a loss for words in response to Gu Huai’s comnt.

The mastermind was truly consistent… always reciprocating!

Left with no choice, Qi Yue compromised. She lifted one corner of her coat, “Then co here, let’s share it. This coat is quite big!”

Gu Huai seed taken aback by Qi Yue’s invitation, his expression briefly flickering.

“Hurry up!” Qi Yue urged as she lifted the hem of her coat, covering Gu Huai’s head completely.

“Okay,” Gu Huai finally lowered his head and moved closer.

“Ready to sprint! One, two, three!”

After counting, Qi Yue imdiately dashed into the curtain of rain.

In the mont they rushed out, Gu Huai’s arm lightly circled around her shoulder, holding down the other uplifting corner of her coat, enveloping her completely in a small sanctuary, isolating her with his body warmth from the pouring rain outside.

For a mont, the jacket housed both their breaths, their exhaled white mist intertwining in the tiny space. Qi Yue found herself even closer to Gu Huai than when she sat behind him on his bicycle, inhaling his familiar scent…

While running, Qi Yue unconsciously turned her head to glance at the person beside her.

She noticed Gu Huai’s eyelashes were long, with shining raindrops adhering to them, appearing even prettier than a girl’s…

Qi Yue’s thoughts wandered idly to those rain spirits in deserted temples who seduced passing scholars on rainy nights…

While Qi Yue was lost in her thoughts, Gu Huai seed to detect her gaze.

Their eyes suddenly t.

In an instant, the cold, damp air heated up as if afla.

Qi Yue felt as though she could hear her own heartbeat, faster than the falling raindrops…

The two jogged all the way to the hotel.

Although they moved quickly, the rain was so heavy that by the ti they arrived, Qi Yue saw that Gu Huai was completely soaked, while she, protected by his coat and his shielding, was hardly wet at all.

She needed to get Gu Huai to take a hot shower quickly, or he would definitely catch a cold…

“Um… Gu Huai…”

Just as Qi Yue was about to speak, Gu Huai’s cellphone rang.

Hence, Qi Yue pointed towards the reception desk, gesturing for him to check in first.

Gu Huai nodded.

The so-called reception desk was just a small table where a woman in her fifties who looked like the proprietress sat with a phone in hand.

These hotels here were actually farmhouses converted by the owners into guesthouses; the one she had chosen was one of the better environnts nearby.

“Hello, I need to check in, two rooms please.”

Upon seeing Qi Yue, the proprietress imdiately showed a sowhat apologetic expression, “Oh dear, you’re here. I was just about to contact you; I’m so sorry, but we have only one room left…”

Qi Yue was stunned: “Ah? But, I definitely booked two rooms…”

The proprietress spoke apologetically, “Just now, an elderly couple arrived, they hadn’t booked in advance, but it was late and raining heavily, and there are no other places to stay nearby. Seeing their old age, I felt pity for them and let them stay, occupying one of your booked rooms. I’m really sorry, we only have one left now…”

Qi Yue thought she could finally rest well at the accommodation but didn’t expect this twist. Scratching her head, she said, “What do we do now…”

Theh proprietress quickly spoke, “The two rooms you booked are quite large and co with a suite. I’ll have my husband put an extra bed in the suite. How about that? I won’t charge you for tonight’s stay considering the inconvenience caused on our part…”

Qi Yue hurriedly said, “No, madam, it’s not about the money. I ca here with my classmate, and he is a boy. It might not be convenient for both of us to stay in one room…”

But just as the proprietress had said, it was late, it was raining, and there were no other lodging options nearby…

“I’m so sorry, it’s our fault here,” the proprietress kept apologizing.

Due to the circumstances, Qi Yue naturally didn’t bla her, thinking for a mont before saying, “If it’s a suite, that should be okay, but I need to ask him first, let check with him?”

Proprietress: “OK, that’s fine!”

After speaking, Qi Yue looked towards the entrance where Gu Huai had put down his phone, probably finished with his call.

She then walked over to him, “Big Shot!”

“All set?” asked Gu Huai.

Scratching her head, Qi Yue replied sowhat awkwardly, “Not exactly…we haven’t checked in yet… I wanted to ask you if it’s okay for us to share a room?”
