Evelyn didn’t like this coming up again. "I already told you not to look for your father. He’s a leech who will want a lot of money from you. I’m trying to protect the two of us here. You don’t rember what your father is like since we left him when you were young."

"I find that hard to believe. It’s no secret who I am married to since Liam is always in the news for sothing and my face was going around the news for my accident. If my father wanted money, he would have co to long ago. If there’s a good reason I would rather you tell the truth," said Veronica.

"I’ve already told you the truth and if you ca here to ask about a man I got away from then I will have to ask you to leave. I thought you ca here because you wanted to fix our relationship, not this. There are so things I do to protect you whether you believe it or not. I should have known," Evelyn said, upset with herself.

Why did she for a second think Veronica was here to fix their relationship? It was always going to be like this.

"If I couldn’t go with my father if you didn’t bring here, where were you going to leave ? Henry would have liked that you ca empty-handed without any baggage which was a child. I’m just curious where you were going to leave . Where were you going to leave with the sa man you don’t want to contact?" Veronica asked.

"You would have been fine. I would have found a good place for you to stay but I brought you along-"

"To be a child to comfort Beth who just lost her parents. We have our differences but when I was a child, did you love at all? I don’t feel like it with the way you treat now so please refresh my mory and tell if there was ever a mont you loved . Your real daughter," Veronica added since Evelyn confused Beth for it.

"How many tis must I answer this? I did not go through all the pain to bring you into this world just to hate you. I don’t like the attitude and the way that you aren’t grateful for the things I did for you but I don’t hate you. I haven’t forgotten that you’re my daughter. You look a lot like even though others used to say your father," Evelyn answered.

"Then why were you so upset that I woke up and I didn’t die? Do you have any idea how it felt to look back and rember how interested you were in Beth than the daughter who was lying on a hospital bed? To hear how annoyed you were with asking questions? What about all of that?" Veronica asked, wanting to hear her mother’s excuse.

Evelyn didn’t have a response to it. Her relationship with Veronica had reached a low point just before she ended up in the hospital. Everyone said Veronica wasn’t going to wake up so it was money to be had. She wouldn’t be the first person to be excited over a relative dying and then be upset when it didn’t happen.

"You’re a sorry excuse for a mother and it’s even worse that you left to take care of soone else. I don’t care if you’re putting on an act with Beth to make Henry like you. You still abandoned every ti I needed you and for that, you wouldn’t have made a di off of my death. I’m sure you left nothing for if sothing happened to you," Veronica said, willing to bet on it.

"I haven’t planned to leave anything for anyone. Why should I give away my money? Especially to soone like you who has plenty of it-"

"Because I am your daughter but again, you forget that I am. If you would be a little nicer then maybe I would consider fixing our relationship. If I’m ever a mother I hope I am nothing like you. I don’t want to be heartless and only care about money. I hope one day regret eats you up. Is it worth all of this?" Veronica wondered, taking a second look around the ho.

Was this life really worth abandoning her daughter?

"It is and you keep forgetting that it’s thanks to bringing you here that you t Liam. I should be paid sothing for setting you up with a good man. I already know you won’t give anything so don’t laugh," Evelyn said, annoyed by Veronica’s laughter.

Veronica tried to stop laughing. "You jumped straight into asking for money. If my father is a leech then I understand why the two of you loved each other to get married. You must have left when you couldn’t get anything more from him."

Evelyn sighed and touched her forehead since Veronica was giving her a headache. "You don’t know anything. None of you do. I should have known that you would co digging around about him at so point. I’m telling you not to. There’s a good reason why he hasn’t co around in years."

’Because he’s dangerous?" Veronica asked, confirming it from her mother’s surprise reaction. "The story that he would leech off us if he found us is stupid. You weren’t doing a good job at hiding for to believe that story. You should have just said that he’s a dangerous man. I would ask why lie but lying is all you do."

Veronica continued, "If he’s a dangerous man who wants money, maybe I should pay him to do a job for . There’s still the matter of my accident. I’m curious if he at least loves enough to go after the person who tried to kill ."

Evelyn panicked. She smiled to throw Veronica off of her current feelings. "No one tried to kill you. You need to start listening to ."

Evelyn didn’t need her ex-husband to co here. She hadn’t thought about how he wouldn’t co out of his hiding hole to find out what happened to Veronica. Her accident was enough to break their deal that he would not approach them.

’If soone did try to kill her then they are dead,’ Evelyn thought. There wasn’t any doubt about that. ’But who?’

Who did Veronica think tried to kill her?

Evelyn knew Liam suspected them but it wasn’t her. She wasn’t crazy to try to kill Veronica herself and the truth was, she didn’t know where Beth and Henry were around that ti.

"I’m starting to feel a little thirsty now. Can you get a drink?" Veronica asked, sending her code to Jero.
