Jero was surprised to hear that Liam wasn’t going to do sothing about Beth but it made sense not to. Trying to silence Beth would only make him look guilty of trying to hide sothing he shouldn’t do as a married man.
"You can go on break now. You’ve been running around with and Veronica all day. Your lunch is on ," said Liam.
"Thank you," Jero replied and then left Liam’s side.
Liam headed to one of the kitchen areas to grab a bottle of water in the well-stocked fridge for himself and the employees. He took a bottle of water Veronica would be able to take with her when they left and a juice she liked to have.
"Oh! Mr Sterling," Nora greeted Liam. It was just her luck to stumble upon him here. She was trying to avoid everyone speaking about Veronica and ran into Liam.
There was no denying that they were drawn to each other. The attraction was unavoidable.
Liam did a glance at Nora and then moved to the counter with snacks. "You can get what you need. Don’t mind ."
He was used to so of the employees walking out of the break room whenever he entered. If they were going to make his presence stop them from eating then it was on them.
Nora’s smile grew the further she got into the room. "I was wondering if you and your wife made it out of the event safely. The reporters kept looking around for the two of you and then started searching for anyone who worked for you. I kept quiet but I will need to ask the others what they did.’
"You don’t need to. You’re free to talk and I am free to fire you if you share private company details. I am done here so feel free to get what you want," Liam said after picking up a bag of chips.
It was now that he realised that the office was stocked with more snacks or drinks Veronica liked than he liked and he was the one who worked here. Her visits were around once a week yet she had everything she needed like it was her office.
Liam looked at the bag of chips as he walked by the door but his path was blocked by Nora. "What the hell are you doing? If you have sothing to say to , say it and don’t block my path. You’re getting ahead of yourself these days and I don’t like it."
Nora had to think fast before he got upset with her. "I’ve been aning to speak about soone making uncomfortable in the legal team. I stepped in front of you to get it out but I can’t. I’m worried."
"There’s a departnt for you to speak about this in private if you are afraid of telling . Soone quite knowledgeable in this area to help you get through it. Since you are here, tell who it is and I will look into it," said Liam.
Nora looked down and bit her lip. This was the worst excuse to co up with because she knew how seriously the allegations were taken. "I will go to the departnt. It is hard to share it with you."
"If you think the person can get you fired then tell but you should know for the start of the investigation and for the rest of it, if you want, your na will be anonymous to protect you. If you have been made to feel uncomfortable then I ask that you speak up since others might be in the sa position," Liam said to encourage her.
Nora looked up. "I want to wait a little. Maybe I have misjudged their interactions with . I should talk to soone first to see if I am in my head about this or if I should report it. Thank you, Mr Sterling."
Liam stared at Nora for a few seconds before looking away. "I don’t an to sound insensitive but we are talking about a serious topic here. This company doesn’t have a place for anyone harassing others or for anyone making false accusations. Both have serious consequences."
"I would never lie about sothing like this. I am on the legal team so that would be a bad look for . I just don’t want to put sothing out about soone and then it turns out to be wrong. I will speak to soone else. One of the other won in the legal team-"
"So, should I investigate the legal team? Thank you for letting know," Liam said and then walked around Nora.
"W-Wait," Nora panicked. He was going to make sothing out of nothing. Why couldn’t he be one of those people who ignored what didn’t directly affect them? "There’s that idiot who won’t catch a hint," she said, knowing who it could be passed off on.
He did make her uncomfortable by asking her on a date when she clearly wasn’t interested. Regardless, she was going to be safe in all of this.
"Is he blind?" Nora wondered. Why wasn’t he taking notice of her and was more interested in a plain bag of chips? "He goes on and on about working but he brought her here. It’s not fair."
For Nora and many of the won who worked here, this was their playground to look at Liam as much as they wanted to. Guilt and sha would be felt by so when Veronica ca around to remind them of his marriage.
"She already sees him at ho so why does she have to co here?" Nora muttered.
She wasn’t having a good day.
"I want to go ho," Nora said, tempted to request the rest of the day off. "Hey! Watch it- Oh!"
"You weren’t looking where you were going so you should watch it," said Jero.
"I didn’t an to snap at you like that. I am just a bit tired from the case we have right now," Nora said, hoping he hadn’t heard her talking to herself. She wanted to pinch herself for talking in the break room where anyone could hear her. "I’ll be careful how I walk from now on. Should I pour you so coffee?"
"No, and I ant you should watch what you say. You don’t have to like her but you should be careful how you speak about his wife," Jero said as he walked to the fridge. He would settle on a drink and snack for lunch. "No one can stop you from looking at him and dreaming of sothing more but when it cos to reality, get a grip."
