Chapter 59: Chapter 59

Beth didn’t want to pick up the phone. She wanted it to disappear so she didn’t have to see or hear it anymore.

Beth bit her nails out of nervousness. The re thought of the police coming inside her room and finding this phone scared her.

The phone was to remain off and be tossed sowhere long ago but after her uncle started to bring up Liam speaking about caras being all over the city, Beth thought it was a better idea to keep it close.

"I should see,’ Beth whispered as though soone else was around.

Unable to turn the phone off, Beth turned it on to see the ssages being sent. It was a hefty bill to pay to get it unlocked and now, Beth started to question if she could trust that man to not out her in the future if anyone ended up going there.

Beth continued to bite her nails as she read ssages from a woman nad Julia. All the other accounts on the phone wouldn’t open as if soone changed the password and she was willing to bet that it was Liam.

All she got to see was a few ssages coming to the phone but they were nothing important. There weren’t any photos she could use for her own enjoynt to post on a secret account on social dia and if she did then it would alert Liam that soone had the phone.

"Why is this woman apologising?" Beth muttered, confused by the thread of ssages before her. "I wouldn’t apologise to Veronica."

Beth closed the chat, not noticing that the ssages were read. She searched the phone one more ti to see what was open but again, they all asked for a password.

"I waited too long," Beth muttered.

Had she opened the phone the first day she got it then she might have had sothing to blackmail Veronica with. Beth turned the phone off and once again decided to keep it off for good.

"I need to get rid of that," she said.

All over the city couldn’t have caras, Liam was just trying to scare them. She could take a long drive to a beach and toss it there or she could get it out of her hands by giving it to her uncle but then again, if he told Evelyn, what would she do?

"She’s going to pick Veronica over ," Beth said, concerned about Evelyn’s loyalty.

Evelyn said she loved Beth more but there had been tis when Beth noticed the hesitation to say it. Evelyn loved money more than she loved anyone and right now, Veronica had her hands on plenty of it.

"If she could make up with Veronica and start to get money, she would stab us in the back. I need sothing on her," Beth said, tapping her fingers on the table she thought. "Veronica’s father," she decided.

What didn’t Evelyn want him around for? If Beth just had his na then when Evelyn acted out of line then she would have sothing to keep her in check. Beth wasn’t ready to go through with losing another mother. Evelyn was her mother now and Veronica wasn’t going to get her back.

Beth opened a drawer and tossed Veronica’s phone inside to hide it. Beth then proceeded to take off her makeup like nothing ever happened. These secrets were going to die with her. It wasn’t her fault Veronica didn’t know when to just disappear.

Beth watched from the mirror as her door opened and Evelyn once again ca to tell her about modelling.

Evelyn carried in the bags Beth dropped on the floor to put them away before her husband arrived. "You know your uncle can’t see we went shopping. He was in a good mood yesterday but he could easily switch to talking about saving."

Beth didn’t look back to offer Evelyn a helping hand since she was busy at the mont. "I’m going to start using so of the money I make so I don’t have to worry about looking cheap. I need to look fashionable and wearing sothing everyone has already thrown out of their closets isn’t going to help ."

Beth continued, "Uncle has money. I don’t know why he acts like he doesn’t. That was a lot of money he gathered to buy the building and he has two buildings to his na. Isn’t his dealership making good money? It was when my father helped to run it."

"Your father was better at running the dealership. Your uncle does have money but we can’t spend like we used to because he’s thinking about how to invest it to make more. We need to improve the dealership to get more cars sold. Maybe if we put your face on it then it will bring in a ton of n," said Evelyn.

"I don’t want to be the face of a dealership. It doesn’t fit what I envision for myself but I will find ways in the future to help you out. Once I get my first big paycheck, I want to move out. I can’t live like this anymore," Beth said, tired of her money controlled.

Evelyn sat down on Beth’s bed. She knew Beth wanted her uncle to buy her an apartnt so she could live on her own and Henry was close to doing it until Beth then ntioned she wanted all the expenses taken care of despite not living in his ho.

"It’s good to hear that you want to move out. You’ve long passed that age when everyone wants to take care of themselves but you might want to slow down. You shouldn’t use your first paycheck to move into an apartnt. You should see first if the next job pays as much-"

Beth’s laughter interrupted Evelyn’s advice. "What makes you think I have not been saving what money I make from my social dia? I knew I couldn’t depend on my uncle forever so I started to save. I advise you to do the sa but I don’t know what kind of work you could do."

Evelyn smiled as it was silly to think she wanted to work at this ti in her life. "I’m well taken care of so I don’t worry about money."

"Because you’ve been slowly stealing it from my uncle?" Beth asked.

"What?" Evelyn frowned.

"Don’t sound so surprised. It was easy to guess that when the money trouble started to beco more apparent you would find a way to secure your future. Don’t worry," Beth turned to face Evelyn. "I won’t tell."
