Chapter 25: Chapter 25

Liam exited his car and headed straight inside to find Veronica. After thinking about the short call from earlier, he had to see her even if he had to return to work shortly after.

What was she doing right now?

Had she found sothing else to question?

Did she think of him?

Liam had many questions he wanted to ask her but first, he had to see her. There were many monts when he thought she would disappear from this ho or he would wake up to Veronica still lying in the hospital.

The only way he could prove what he saw now was reality was to see and touch Veronica but he could only do one of those two things.

"Mr. Sterling," Edna greeted Liam just as he walked by her. "I will get your lunch for you. Mrs. Sterling is sitting outside waiting for you."

Liam couldn’t believe his ears. "Veronica is?"

"Yes. If your call was a little bit later, you might have gotten a surprise visit at the office from Veronica. She wanted

to prepare lunch for you and thought of going to see you to surprise you with it," said Edna.

Liam sighed, angry with himself that he had not put down his phone and not co here. "What is the chance of

returning to my office without lunch and Veronica bringing it to ?"

"I would say that you are too positive," Edna answered. "Another chance will co. I overheard her listening to videos of you two. I have been praying for her to rember you. Everything else can remain a mystery but she should know you."

"Thank you, Edna. I will give you a little sothing more for having to watch over Veronica. Soone will co tomorrow to take over watching Veronica and she has appointnts to get to. You will be alone again," Liam said as he joined Edna in the kitchen.

"I don’t mind looking after your wife. I am more than happy to answer all her questions. There were a few calls today from Evelyn Harper and your father. I left the ti and the ssages they wanted to pass on beside the phone," Edna inford Liam.

Liam made a ntal note to block the new number Evelyn was using this ti. How many numbers could one person be granted? It was becoming old how many tis he had blocked a number belonging to Evelyn just for her to find another way to reach him.

"I placed more so you could share with Mrs Sterling," Edna said as she handed Liam the tray of food she prepared for him. "She is sitting on the bench outside."

Edna noticed Liam’s surprise. It was a special place where the two ate together when they had ti and looked out at the scenery which made the ho worth the purchase.

Liam thanked Edna and left to find Veronica. It felt like old tis to see her sitting in her spot while his spot waited for him. "Want

to get sothing for your hair? Sorry," he apologised for scaring her.

Veronica scooted to the right to make room for Liam and his food. She raked her fingers through her hair, trying to make it look better. "No. I don’t mind the wind in my hair and you might not have a lot of ti. Is it worth it to travel all the way here to have lunch? We are not that close to the city."

Liam sat down on the bench. "It is worth it when I get to see my wife. I’m a little disappointed."

Veronica frowned. "About what?"

"That I ruined you coming to bring

lunch at the office. Had I waited a little longer before I called Edna, I could be expecting your visit right about now," Liam explained.

"Oh. Tomorrow is another day. I can bring you lunch around this ti if you want or we can have lunch anywhere we normally like. I am tired of walking from one end of our ho to another. Having lunch with you is the breath of fresh air I need or is leaving not possible?" Veronica asked.

"You can leave when you want to as long as you go with one of the drivers and tell

where you are going-"

"Will you tell

where you are going?" Veronica spoke over Liam. She bit her lip since she was a little too hasty.

"I told you that I was going to work and that is all I have been to today. I don’t have sothing to hide from you, Veronica. On that note, your stepfather ca to

today. He is desperate to get the money he needs for a building. I am going to buy it," Liam revealed.

Veronica didn’t see the need to buy the building. "Do you need the building?"

"No."

"Then, you are just buying it because he wants it? Isn’t it a waste of money?" Veronica asked, realising she was married to a petty man.

How common was it for soone to buy a building just to upset soone annoying them?

How wealthy was Liam?

"A building isn’t a waste of money. I can always sell it later on or make good use of it. The location isn’t the best but it isn’t the worst. I looked into why he’s so interested in buying that building that he is almost willing to go bankrupt over it. That area will soon be redeveloped so he’ll get back what he spent plus more when it happens," said Liam.

Henry was more stupid than Liam thought to bring so much attention to the building when many didn’t know about the redevelopnt plans.

"I won’t lose any money and I have the chance to ruin soone’s day. It will be a good day for . Chicken?" Liam asked, holding out his fork with grilled chicken to Veronica.

"It is your lunch. Won’t buying the building before he can make them bother us even more? If I was in his shoes, I would plot to do sothing to you. It doesn’t sound worth it. We should just ignore them," Veronica suggested.

Liam continued to offer Veronica food until she eventually accepted it and took the fork from his hands to offer him food. "It is a good deal that I shouldn’t miss out on. I won’t let them get to you again so trust . I will keep you inford concerning the building and eventually, it could be a gift to you."

Veronica choked on the food Liam gave her. Why was he casually giving her a building? "I do not want it. I don’t need my family to think I plotted to get it from them. Please eat your lunch. I already ate," she said, giving back the fork to a disappointed Liam.
