Chapter 119: Chapter 119
"My father? He just answered you when I was the one trying to reach out to him. Why you?" Veronica questioned, stepping away from Liam. "I have been trying for so long now and all I got was a warning but he goes to you. Are you going to et with him? You already did," she realised.
Veronica turned away from Liam. She wasn’t upset with him since he hadn’t done anything wrong but it was upsetting to know that he had it easy for her father to reach out to him. "I’m not angry with you. I just can’t understand why he wouldn’t answer ."
Veronica took a mont to calm down before she misdirected her anger to Liam. "What did he say? Did he ntion anything about eting with ?"
"He’s not going to show his face to you but he has been looking over you. We were right that he’s soone dangerous. You’re better off not getting too close to him. Whatever he does, it could greatly affect you if there’s anyone after him. I know it’s not what you want to hear," said Liam.
"It’s not. I wanted to see him myself and get so answers. I would even have a stupid mont to ignore the danger around him just so I could speak to him but we can’t be that stupid now. Hold on a mont," Veronica said, leaning on the wall behind her. "I just need a mont."
"He admitted that he’s not a good father but he wants to protect you. He had been sending money to take care of you but it seems your mother might have kept most of it. You didn’t need Henry to take care of you and he said it would have been enough money for you to live well without ."
Veronica raked her fingers through her hair. "Of course, she kept the money and then spent so much ti alongside Henry trying to tell
about paying them back for how much money he spent on . I doubt she told Henry. She would have needed to give him so of it for all the failed ideas he had for businesses."
Veronica was certain Henry didn’t know about the money since he was always complaining about using his money on her before she t Liam.
"My mother just doesn’t know when to stop. No wonder she didn’t like that I was looking for him. I should scare her by telling her that he’s near," Veronica said, wanting to see her mother panic.
"As fun as that might be, it seems that he’s already gotten to her. I don’t know how since we didn’t have a long talk and I wasn’t told about suspicious activity around your mother but he has her. I don’t know if he will go through with going after Henry. Henry is sticking around Beth so-"
"Wait, wait, wait." Veronica held her hand up for Liam to slow down. "He took her? Like kidnapped her?" She asked as quietly as she could.
"I told you he’s not a man you should go around. He did it without
getting alerted about it and I had n watching your mother. If he reaches out to
again, I will tell you about it but as of right now, you should end your search. You have your answer that he cared about you. Or was there more?" Liam wondered.
"No," Veronica shook her head. "I only wanted to know if I had one saving grace when it ca to a parent. I have a money-obsessed mother and a father who knows how to kidnap soone. So far, the kidnapper seems to be winning parent of the year. I need a drink."
All hope for her father to be so simple man who was just hard to find was out the window. Nothing about her life was going to be simple unless she left the city and beca a farr.
"I’m almost done here so we can leave in a few minutes and go sowhere to stock up since we have to be inside for so ti. He already used a boat so we have to be careful he isn’t aiming to take
out in a car accident. Sorry," Veronica quickly regretted what she said because of Liam’s reaction. "That was bad timing."
"Let’s get out of here fast and get hold," Veronica said, holding his hand again to calm him down.
Now that she didn’t need to look for her father anymore, she didn’t have much to do aside from checking in on the gallery.
"There’s one more thing. Your father will go after Vance. I wanted to help but he wants
to remain clean for you. If anything seems odd or nothing is happening to my grandfather, I will reach out to my father and have Jero stay with you. I can’t miss this chance to get rid of him once and for all. He’ll avoid punishnt by law if we go that route," Liam said, wanting Veronica to be prepared.
"I know. So now I have to hope that my father succeeds so you won’t be pulled into this," Veronica spoke softly.
She was only concerned about Liam getting caught up in this. Veronica had believed that since Vance liked Liam so much he would not harm him but since Liam had turned down every invitation to join Vance then that protection wouldn’t be there for much longer.
Veronica embraced Liam and rested her head on his shoulder. "I’ve just started to feel like myself again. I can’t go through having to hear that sothing happened to you so unless my father really needs help, you should stay away. Why can’t bad people just drop dead?"
"It might cause a lot of panic to see so many people drop dead," Liam replied. He wrapped his arms around Veronica. "I am going to be careful so you don’t need to go through what I did. I just need you to do as I tell you now and limit how much you are outside our ho. Now is the ti for us to communicate with each other more than ever."
"I know. I haven’t been doing anything secretive. I still need that drink," Veronica said, not wanting this to be forgotten. She wouldn’t make it through the next hour without a drink.
Liam chuckled. "Right. Let’s get you that drink when we get ho."
