Chapter 116: Chapter 116
"Did you co to find out about your mother? I’m afraid I don’t know where she ran off to. She’s abandoned us at a ti like this. Have you heard from her?" Vance asked, curious about what Liam knew about his mother.
"I didn’t care to ask. If you appreciated her a little more then she wouldn’t have left. No one in this family understands why you put everything on Benjamin when he’s an idiot. Do you enjoy failing?" Liam wondered, failing to understand Vance’s reasons. "You’re not an idiot stuck in the past that a woman couldn’t do it, right?"
"I’m a traditional man which is sothing you could benefit from. There are just so things that make sense. If you would visit when we talk about our plans then you would know why I haven’t pushed your mother instead of my son. What I am looking for is a man like you," said Vance.
"Traditional man?" Liam repeated then laughed. If what Vance was could be called a traditional man then Liam never wanted to be one. "You’re supposed to scare your children-"
"They should fear ," Vance interjected. "I am not their friend, I am their father. They need that fear to obey . That is why you turned out like this. They failed to make you obedient, which I could have done. Still, I like the attitude you have. I could take you far with it."
Liam chard the public with his appearance and with his successful business, he would make the perfect tool for Vance to use. Liam just failed to see what was right before him.
’Why was that?’ Vance wondered. Was it that wife of his?
Liam was rebellious in his youth but then it got worse after he got married. This was why Adeline needed to step in to get Veronica away from Liam. It was such simple tasks like this that Adeline failed to do.
Adeline allowed her son to control her which shouldn’t have been possible since she should rember all that Vance did to get her to listen.
"I am not going to ask you one more ti, Liam. I am just going to deem you useless and cut you off like you want. You won’t like it when that happens. Think about what you want to protect," Vance said, walking ahead of Liam to get a better look at family portraits.
"I used to think Benjamin would be the one to make this family crash but it’s going to be you. You’re the one pulling all the strings and making them do all these ridiculous things. You know that he has an addiction yet you want to put him up on stages to act like he’s fine. A good father would have gotten him help," said Liam.
Vance laughed at the fact that a man without any children was telling him what to do. "I’ll take your advice after you’ve had your first child. How long have you been with her and she hasn’t given you a child? No money, and no good family background, and she cannot get pregnant. She’s utterly useless."
Jero placed himself between Liam and Vance so the two wouldn’t get into a fight. They didn’t co here to fight. Vance would be dealt with but Liam had to rember their plans.
"What are you getting so worked up for? This city is my playground, Liam. You need to be careful not to offend . I can make the wife’s life miserable and I damn sure can attack that business you love. I’ve left you alone since you are family and I like you but I can’t take your disrespect anymore," said Vance.
"You’ll end up killing
like you do all the others?" Liam accused Vance.
Vance chuckled. "You’re bold to bring that up. I’ll give you that. I will say this. If you don’t get rid of disobedient people then you’ll just be held back. Your one flaw is wanting to be good. You fail to get rid of the people you need to."
"I would like to not be a killer like so people in this family," Liam replied.
Jero looked down at his phone after feeling it vibrate.
Vance looked away from Liam to get a better look at Liam’s right-hand man. He had been trying to get Jero on his side to pull Liam in after but no matter what he offered, Jero wouldn’t help him. It annoyed him but at the sa ti, Vance liked the loyalty. It was hard to find people like Jero these days.
It was unfortunate that Vance needed to remove Jero from Liam’s side since he might be one more person getting in Liam’s ears.
"Killer? That doesn’t fit this family. I’ve never personally killed anyone so you can’t call
a killer. Don’t go around with all these accusations when I have good lawyers. I don’t want to see you be the one who crashes and burns. Oh, where are my manners? How is the wife doing?" Vance asked, genuinely curious about Veronica’s state. "I heard about the mory loss."
"How unfortunate," Vance said, though he secretly enjoyed it. It bought him more ti to get rid of her for good the second ti. "She doesn’t know her life. It would have been the perfect ti for you to divorce her. It is not your uncle who is a fool but you."
Vance continued, "You went and married a woman who can’t offer anything to you and now this. I would just get rid of her. Don’t be blinded by what you think is love."
"If being with a woman who loves
makes
a fool then I will stay a fool. I’ll keep in mind everything you said today. Jero, we’re leaving," Liam announced, having what he ca for.
"So soon? I wanted to talk to you more. I will visit your ho soon so start planning a nice family dinner. And Liam, get rid of that wife of yours before I do," Vance said, giving Liam one last chance to do what was right.
Vance couldn’t wait for Adeline to make the family image look good again so he had to take matters into his own hands. There wasn’t any worry about Liam knowing he was coming for Veronica since he ran this city whether Liam wanted to admit it or not.
Liam and Jero didn’t speak as they made their way to the car.
It was only after they got inside that Jero inford Liam of sothing important.
"We got a response back from the car Veronica had been seeing. They want to et. What should I tell them?" Jero asked.
"Tell them we’ll et in an hour. He’s only going to get what he deserves if we kill him," Liam decided. "He’s not done with her yet," Liam said, having gotten his answer to what Vance was up to now.
His grandfather did have too many connections to try gathering proof. If Veronica’s father was dangerous then he would be useful now.
