The alarm rang, interrupting the peacefulness of the quiet room. The signal only rang twice, though, before a large hand reached out to scoop the phone and slide the screen, effectively silencing it. Damien lifted it up, glancing at the ti, and let out a soft sigh, putting it back on the nightstand.

Then, he glanced down at his body. Or, to be precise, on another body that was lying on top of his body. Lane was still clinging to him, absolutely undisturbed, using his chest as a pillow, his pink hair all ssy, parts of it sticking together in strands.

It was an adorable view, even though Damien would never say it out loud. For obvious reasons - ’adorable’ was not a type of complint that Lane would appreciate.

Lane stirred, snuggling even closer to Damien, one of his legs thrown over Damien’s, but he didn’t open his eyes. Did he not hear the alarm? That was unlikely. He probably was just pretending to still be asleep.

Damien thought about it for a mont, before gently pushing Lane aside. It was a difficult task, since the man was clinging to him as if he had been attached by super glue, but eventually, he had succeeded. There was no need for Lane to get up just yet, as they still had so ti left. They had been at it until dawn, Lane bottoming each ti, so he deserved more rest. But if Damien wanted to make breakfast, he couldn’t afford to lie around any longer. They had to go to work soon enough, after all. He slowly sat up...

And only then did he get a clear view of his surroundings. He couldn’t help but pause at the sight.

What spread around him was a scene of carnage. The sheets and mattress were all torn up, shredded to pieces, way beyond repair, clumps of fiber spread everywhere, on the bed, on the floor, sticking to their bodies. Not only that, but they were also stained with red, making the previously white sheets look bloodied up. A lot of it ca from the squashed rose petals... But so of it seed to indeed be dried blood.

Damien wasn’t worried, though. It was only his blood, after all. From when Lane’s fingers repeatedly dug into his flesh as the man cried out from pleasure underneath him. The wounds weren’t deep anyway. Although his back still felt a bit raw, as he reached out to check it, he could only feel dried blood, nothing else, not even scabs. He was an S-rank Esper, after all, his recovery speed was extraordinary. A few ’light’ scratches were not a big deal.

It was only the damaged mattress that made him frown. Torn sheets were one thing - not that Damien didn’t care about them, not at all, he was against destroying any property, but the sheets were cheaper (relatively. They were sheets that Lane had provided, so they were likely still too expensive) and easier to replace - but the mattress... It seed like such a high-quality mattress on top of that.

Perhaps it was a good thing that Lane was always the top. As much as Damien enjoyed his ti... They couldn’t replace their mattress each night!

Then again, at least they hadn’t broken the bed this ti. So, it could have been worse.

Damien sighed once again, and finally got up. His whole body was sticky from sweat and sen, and with red patches all over his skin. So of them were blood and rose petals stains, while so were marks from Lane’s scratches, kisses, and bites... It was hard to tell which was which, at a glance. A lot had happened throughout the night, and since Lane had been suggesting a round after round, they hadn’t really gotten a chance to wash up. Damien only wiped them with wet towels a few tis, until eventually, they dozed off after the round number... Honestly, Damien wasn’t sure. He had lost count at so point.

Now, though, he stepped into the bathroom, turned on the shower, making a stream of cold water rain down on himself, and finally scrubbed himself clean. He was already used to the ’morning afters’, so he was no longer so embarrassed seeing the red marks that couldn’t be washed away. He quickly wrapped it all up, and a few minutes later, he headed to the kitchen.

Lane had let him have his way with him the whole night before. And, while it was because it was Damien’s birthday and Lane was the ’present’, not to ntion that Lane also seed to have enjoyed himself a lot, Damien felt like it was only appropriate to serve him a nice breakfast. With Lane’s character, it must have taken a lot for him to submit to anyone. Even if his ass wasn’t sore from all the bottoming, his ego probably was. So, Damien wanted to make the breakfast extra hearty, so that they could both recover energy, and extra sweet, so that Lane’s wounded pride would heal...

Once he was done, he put all the dishes and drinks on the bed tray, and carried it all to the bedroom. Lane was still in bed, pretending to sleep, but he clearly flinched the mont the door opened and Damien stepped in.

Damien let out a quiet sigh, and put the tray down, before leaning over Lane.

"Lane?" he spoke out, gently tapping the man’s cheek. "Wake up. Breakfast’s ready."

Lane groaned, then stirred, but he still refused to open his eyes.

"Lane, we need to get ready for work," Damien tried again. When it still didn’t work, he suggested, "Unless you want to call in sick?"

Of course, that was the offer for Lane only. Damien still had to go.

And Lane knew it as well. He groaned again, furrowing his brows. He didn’t want to ’wake up’, because waking up ant he had to face reality, and he was not ready for that...

But calling in sick when Damien wouldn’t wasn’t an option either. Not when there was a little rat called Ethan on their team. Lane most certainly couldn’t leave his boyfriend alone with him (even though it wasn’t exactly ’alone’, as they would be with the rest of the team, but still).

Reluctantly, he finally humd and lifted himself up, slowly opening his eyes a crack.

"Wha ti issit?" he asked in a sleepy voice, as if he were just waking up. Since he had been pretending to be asleep, he should stay committed to the act, right?

"It’s past nine already," Damien answered simply. Their scheduled eting ti with their team was at ten today, so if Lane wanted to co, he had to start getting ready soon, but Damien didn’t point that out. He just set the bed tray in front of Lane, "The food is getting cold, let’s eat."

Lane glanced at the tray. He was used to Damien cooking for him, but... Not only were all the dishes made specifically for his taste - and therefore also not matching Damien’s taste, since they were all so sweet that one bite might make a regular person sick - but also, breakfast in bed? It was nice and all, but...

"It’s your birthday," he pointed out (still reaching out to take a bite, though. After all, the food had already been served, so it would be a waste not to eat, right?)

"That was yesterday," Damien stated matter-of-factly. Then, he spread a towel on the bed, before taking a seat next to Lane. The bedsheets were dirty, with sen stains everywhere, and he had just showered. He didn’t want to have to wash up again, since he still had (or, well, wanted) to go through so files before work.

Lane glanced at Damien, only to quickly avert his gaze the mont their eyes t. At this mont, looking at his boyfriend reminded him of the previous night’s events... And he still didn’t know how to handle it. So, he just shrugged his shoulders, and changed the topic, "We start at ten today, right?"

"Yes. You’re coming?"

"Of course! Why wouldn’t I?" Lane laughed in response. However, it sounded a bit forced. Mainly because he knew why Damien was even suggesting it...

But he was really alright. His ass did feel a bit sore, but honestly, it was probably more just in his head rather than a physical sensation. After all, with his SS-rank, he should have recovered from that little soreness already.

Just in case, though, when Damien wasn’t looking, he sneakily rubbed his lower back, activating his healing ability.

...And sure enough, it didn’t change anything. His healing ability couldn’t heal the pain that didn’t even exist.
