Chapter 144: Chapter 23: Civilization Advancent (2/3)

A few years later, it had been a long ti since the "Holy Grace Ceremony" took place in the City of Corpse.

Passed down by word of mouth among the onlookers at the ti,

almost the entire Mountain and Sea Realm knew that an Immortal Fierce Beast, under the Creator’s grace, had transford into a benevolent Divine Being.

It is said that this Divine Being, in order to atone for the sins committed during its ti as an Immortal Fierce Beast, planned to tread the entirety of the Mountain and Sea Realm step by step.

He would treat every living being he encountered with equality...

He would help every creature in distress...

His whereabouts were as mysterious as the Immortals, yet he never concealed his journey.

As long as soone with a heart was willing to seek, they could always follow in this Divine Being’s footsteps and witness the miracles that happened to him.

Over ti, the rumors gradually beca exaggerated.

For instance, it was said that the Divine Being would fulfill all the wishes of his followers.

Or that finding this Divine Being would grant one a wish.

Thus, tracking the whereabouts of this Divine Being gradually beca a custom in the Mountain and Sea Realm.

Not hoping to truly fulfill one’s wishes, but simply using this act to pin a beautiful vision.

Eventually, this pursuit behavior even evolved into a festival where people chased after the Divine Being’s icon at a fixed ti and place.

.........................................................

"Do you think that if we keep walking like this, we might et the ’Saintly Divine Being’?"

Following the Day of Sin above them, strolling along the sides of the flat avenue.

A Ya, while looking at the "self-driving" bone vehicles, chatted with interest with A Ke behind him.

"Stop listening to so countryside legends, it’s not like you haven’t seen that so-called ’Divine Being’."

Walking indifferently behind A Ya, A Ke’s tone remained as indifferent as ever.

Yet, when looking at A Ya’s back, A Ke’s figure seed to be sowhat lonely and sad.

"Oh! You really don’t understand romance!"

Turning back with so dissatisfaction to glare at A Ke, A Ya imdiately changed the topic.

"Did you see those bone vehicles?"

"I really can’t believe such exquisite things are pieced together with bones."

"It’s said that over at White Bone City, they have cultivated special Bone Beasts that can generate parts for piecing together these bone vehicles."

"Unfortunately, these bone vehicles that do not require Bone Beasts to pull seem to need Sun Stones to operate, which is sowhat too luxurious."

Calmly listening to A Ya’s rambling, A Ke’s face never revealed much emotional fluctuation.

Because it knew from the mont it promised A Ya to walk out of the City of Corpse, fate was already determined.

"I want to go back, A Ya."

Just when A Ya thought A Ke would continue to remain silent, suddenly a slightly choking voice ca from behind.

The Skeletons do not shed tears, so A Ke’s sobbing voice sounded more like so kind of bone scraping noise.

"..."

Slowly halting the steps forward.

A Ya didn’t turn back, and its voice was still so gentle.

"A Ke, didn’t we agree to accompany

through this last stretch?"

However, this gentleness sounded more penetrating to A Ke than any sharp blade.

"Believe , I will definitely find another way to extend your lifespan."

"Just hold on a little longer, and I will surely obtain the Elixir of Immortality from the ’Immortal Goddess’."

Facing A Ke’s almost beseeching words, A Ya just calmly shook its head.

"A Ke, stop deceiving yourself."

"The Elixir of Immortality is a longevity potion for those of flesh and blood, which holds no aning for us Skeletons."

The tone paused slightly, and A Ya continued.

"Besides, I’m also very tired."

"I’m just an ordinary Skeleton; I can’t quickly adapt to new skeletons like you."

"Over the years, continuously changing skeletons and adapting to new bodies have nearly reached my limit."

A Ya had never ntioned these matters to A Ke, nor had it ever spoken of the pain it endured.

So when A Ke heard A Ya say this,

it then realized how much tornt its stubbornness had caused the other over the years.

"Accompany

to finish this final journey!"

"I’ve been in the City of Corpse for so many years, and now I just want to see how far this new world has developed."

Proactively turning to pull A Ke’s hand, a smile blossod once more on A Ya’s skeletal face.

This ti, A Ke did not refuse the hand offered by the other.

In the following months, A Ke took A Ya to visit the stations of the Skeletons, even including those of the Hundred Races of Mountains and Seas.

Tidy and spacious avenues extended in all directions, towering cities spread across the land...

The present Mountain and Sea Realm was utterly different in various aspects from the one in A Ya’s impression.

The forest areas hadn’t diminished.

Because many fellow beings from the Hundred Races, and Epic Creatures powerful enough to rival an Ascender, still lived within the forests.

Yet outside the forests, the ancient remains left by the Dragon Race were gradually cleared, and paths filled with Skeletons’ style extended to every corner of the land.

On those avenues, nurous mbers of the Hundred Races ca and went, imparting a sense of prosperity.

Every ti they arrived at a Skeletons’ city, A Ya would be startled to find a completely different scene.

Among the types of cities built by the Skeletons, there were those like White Bone City, advocating cohabitation and shared prosperity among the Hundred Races, and others maintaining the initial habits and appearances of the Skeletons.

Especially after the Burrowing Insects appeared in the Mountain and Sea Realm, the Skeletons, with their ability to freely manipulate bones, mimicked many of the chanisms originally belonging to the Burrowing Insects.

However, the Burrowing Insects forged these chanisms using minerals refined from rocks.

While the Skeletons used Bone Beasts to generate bones of various shapes and textures to manufacture those bone chanisms rich in Skeleton culture.

In fact, after the initial strong phase, the Skeletons used these exquisite bone chanisms for trade with other mbers of the Hundred Races.

Bone clocks, bone water wheels, bone wheels, bone bicycles, bone looms...

All of a sudden, it seed the Skeletons had entered the early stage of industrial civilization.

The difference is that the Skeletons, free from concerns of food, clothing, shelter, and transportation, could maximize their imagination and curiosity to explore those new things from the Burrowing Insect Civilization.

A Ya could feel that the Skeletons were developing a new talent, one distinct from combat and slaughter—a particular Talent of a race.

Calm, patient, and skillful...

On Earth, people often refer to individuals with such talents as inventors, engineers, or technical personnel.
