Chapter 2186: Chapter 2185: Church of Truth
Hearing Ling Feng’s words, Eva was clearly even more infuriated and shouted angrily, "Don’t even think about it, I won’t say anything!"
"Shut up!"
Ah Min snapped coldly, raised her hand and slapped her, then continued, "Our boss ca specifically to find you, and you still haven’t realized how serious this is, have you? Now tell , why did you post this thread online? Where did you see the stuff in it?"
That slap directly stunned Eva. Then, when she saw the screen in Ah Min’s hand, her eyes widened in shock. "You—you, how do you have this..."
"The internet rembers. You think just because you deleted the post I wouldn’t be able to find you?"
Ah Min let out a cold laugh, then imdiately said, "Tell
right now what’s going on!"
"I..."
Eva was still a bit dazed. She looked at her blankly, then turned back to look at Ling Feng. "You ca to find ... for this?"
"That’s right. Talk. Where did your picture co from?" Ling Feng asked.
"I—I drew it myself..."
Ling Feng froze for a mont. "You drew it yourself? You think I’m three years old?"
"No, that’s not what I an. I really did draw this creature, but I had a model. I copied it based on a template." Eva said.
"Keep talking." Ling Feng said in a deep voice.
"This..."
Eva hesitated, then turned to look at the young man on duty at the internet café.
The other party looked a little embarrassed. He really had ant well, wanting to help Ling Feng, but he hadn’t expected that after finding Eva, Ling Feng would start interrogating her by force and even lay hands on her.
If he’d known it would turn out like this, he really wouldn’t have been so willing to help.
But to his surprise, while he was busy feeling guilty, Eva said, "Can we find a quiet place? I don’t want anyone else to know about this."
"Sure."
Ling Feng nodded, then looked at Eva and said seriously, "As long as you don’t lie and tell
everything truthfully, I absolutely won’t hurt you. Judging by your age, you shouldn’t be a real participant in any conspiracy—at most you’ve just been duped."
"Y-yes, I’ll tell you whatever you want to know!"
Eva’s attitude did a 180, her face full of sincerity.
"Alright then, I’ll have to wrong you a bit first. Once we find a quiet place, you can co out again."
Ling Feng said, then directly sent Eva into the Jade Pendant’s space.
Watching a living, breathing person vanish into thin air, the young man on duty was completely dumbfounded, staring blankly.
"Don’t be nervous, I told you I wouldn’t hurt her."
Ling Feng glanced at him and added, "I’m taking Eva to ask her so questions. You have to help
keep this secret."
"O-okay, I’ll keep it secret!" The young man nodded hurriedly.
Ling Feng chuckled. "As for the doubts in your heart, don’t worry. It probably won’t be long before you see sothing about this on the news."
With that, he left the internet café with Ah Min.
Walking down the street, Ling Feng swept the area once with his Divine Sense and quickly locked onto an empty house, so the two of them headed over.
If he wanted to get to the bottom of things, there was no need to go far; sowhere nearby was good enough.
Once inside the house, Ling Feng brought Eva out from the Jade Pendant’s space, then said, "Alright, we can start now."
Eva looked around at the surroundings in confusion, then took a deep breath and asked Ling Feng, "You want to ask about the Church of Truth, right?"
"More or less. Keep talking."
"I knew they might get into trouble, but I didn’t expect it would draw you here. Mr. Ling, I really am not a mber of the Church of Truth, I’m just the vice-chair of one of their peripheral student organizations. I don’t know what they’ve actually done."
Eva had more or less sobered up by now. She knew this was serious, so her previous attitude was gone and she’d beco very well-behaved.
"Just keep talking. How much this has to do with you isn’t up to you to decide—I’ll be the judge of that." Ling Feng said.
Eva nodded and hurried to say, "Okay, I’ll tell you everything I know!"
Very quickly, she told him the whole story in detail.
This so-called Church of Truth had only recently started spreading here in Europe. It was an organization that circulated specifically among students and mainly recruited high school and university students as mbers.
The Church of Truth was tightly organized; ordinary people couldn’t just join. You had to go through strict vetting, enter their peripheral student council first, then be screened one by one before being granted the qualification to join.
Eva had obtained the qualification earlier than most and beca one of the leaders managing the peripheral student council. She had also attended a few internal etings of the Church of Truth.
At one of those etings, the people from the Church of Truth showed several slides, and among them was that red muscular figure.
Eva found it very interesting when she saw it, so she kept it in her mind, which led to everything that followed.
After hearing this, Ling Feng frowned and asked, "What was the Church of Truth’s purpose in showing you that thing?"
"They said those were the savior gods of the future world, and that only they could save the world." Eva said.
Ling Feng was speechless, then glanced at her. "And you just believed them? Isn’t this obviously so Heretical Cult bullshit?"
Eva lowered her head. "I didn’t believe everything they said..."
"Enough. Now tell
where the people from the Church of Truth are. After that, this has nothing to do with you." Ling Feng shook his head and said.
He really felt helpless. What was wrong with young people these days, getting brainwashed by such outrageous nonsense?
But when Eva heard this, she looked up and said, "Mr. Ling, can you tell
why you’re investigating this? The Church of Truth treats students pretty well. I don’t think they’re bad people."
"Your opinion doesn’t matter. Just tell
where they are." Ling Feng said.
"A-are you going to kill them? I know... you have a very violent personality..." Eva asked cautiously.
"Hm?"
Ling Feng paused, a bit puzzled. "Where did you get that from?"
"From the news. I’ve seen so comnts about you." Eva said.
"Young people should have their own ability to tell right from wrong. Other people are just deliberately demonizing ."
Ling Feng said, then glanced at Ah Min. "We really can’t just ignore this. If soone’s maliciously saring , we need to teach them a lesson."
"Got it, boss. I’ll look into who’s slandering you later." Ah Min nodded.
"Believe it or not, I’ve always been on the side of justice, and the only people I kill are those who deserve to die. Enough chatter, hurry up and tell
where the people from the Church of Truth are!" Ling Feng said to Eva.
"They have an office here. The address is..."
Eva gave him the address, then imdiately asked, "Oh, right, can you take
with you?"
